Selibas rode in the shadow of th mountains. His tribe should be here around this time of year. After his absence he was unsure how his tribe would accept him as chieftain. He knew Chlane wouldn't be looked at as Chief but maybe the families would recognize him as a leader, and he needed to be seen as his tribes leader. He had three weapons at his side. One sword of Ostian make, one Sacaen that had been traded to an armorer in Bern, and a blade of Bernese make. Selibas decided the Sacaen one might be best to show more often.
Selibas had five men at his back. He was now friends with all of them, and hoped they could be accepted by his people. There was Trace, Primary Leader of the Poliar Army that would be coming, under Selibas of course. He was a bit gruff but friendly to someone once he got to know them.
There was Fu Cerin, a Veteran Violet Axe. He was about fifty and Carried only axes for throwing, but he knew how to use them. He was quiet only speaking up to scold his son.
There was Erikye Cerin, a Private in the Violet Axes. He was about twenty three, and asked questions all the time. He used two axes at once instead of an Axe and shield. He was larger than his father, but also much more open and cheerful.
Mervin Henskey was a heavily armored Red Lance Rose. He was Thirty Five and Talked a normal amount. He was the strongest man Selibas had ever met, and he never admitted he was wrong.
Yusif Garth was a light Red Lance Rose. He was Twenty Eight and laughed constantly but not in an annoying way. He was a father so he was cautious and always took time to asses situations.
So when the six saw smoke, Selibas kicked his horse into full gallop. Trace was able to keep up decently, although his Large Bernese horse was no match for Lightnings speed. The others had to sprint behind them. Selibas would have to remember to get them good Sacaen Horses. Selibas was met by many blank stares, people who didn't really know him. He trotted toward a large tent in the center of the camp.
He dismounted Lightning and waited for the others to catch up. He told all but Trace to wait outside and the two entered. Chlane was busy writing lists of supplies, and weapons the Sacaen's had. So Selibas said, " I'm here to take my position as Chief, old man." Chlane looked up with a rare smile. The two walked and met in an embrace. Selibas introduced the two to each other. "This is Trace O'Grady, he's my First Captain of a large force I have coming to meet us in a few weeks. And this is Chlane, my second in command, and my teacher." The two shook hands and talked a bit about Chlane's days as a Mercenary, seeming that he had come to Poliar on a Mission to kill a Politician on a Mercenary Mission.
Then Chlane said, "Selibas, it's time for you to address your people." The three exited the tent, Selibas heard Fu telling his son not to pick a fight with any of the Sacaens. Selibas saw that the Majority of the families had come to see what the return of their chief meant. Chlane got down on his knee and bowed his head. He whispered, "Tell me to swear all my loyalties, my horse, my sword, my bow, and my family to you and the tribe." Selibas was about to repeat the words that he guessed was some sort of oath, when his older cousin Dale ran through all the Sacaens. Selibas kicked his iron sword enough to grip it.
But Dale never struck at Selibas. He dropped to his knee next to Chlane. However he left his head up to whisper, "I am sorry for my mistreatment of you, you are my chief. I will always follow you." Selibas placed both hands on the warriors heads, and whispered the oath Chlane had told him. The two repeated in unison, "I swear all my loyalties, my horse, my sword, my bow, and my family to you and the tribe." The two got up and walked back to all the other Sacaens. Then all the other Warriors moved up and kneeled to the young chief. Selibas swore in each man and in turn his family, and that's how Selibas cut the ties to the weak boy he had been and became his tribes true Chief.
