Introduction: Good day everyone! I do love my video games especially JRPGs, well any RPG in particular! I realized a problem that I have... Sooo many games but so little time. I also wish to talk to people about these games and personal opinions. Don't mind too much if you don't want to hear some small rant on how some games are great and others suck, etc. I will be separating each first impression of the game into these categories: Gameplay (20 points), Sound (20 points), Graphics(15 points), Story (30 points if applicable) and Play Value (15 points). Theoretically it would be in an 100 point system, if not... WE HAVE CALCULATORS!!! Play value generally means how likely I will continue to play it.
Percentage Chart:
A Scale: 90-100
B Scale: 75-89
C Scale: 60-74
D Scale: 50-59
F Scale: 49 Below
Game 1: Chaos Wars
Story: So what I got is you follow this student guy named Hyoma through Endia (some parallel world). He seems to be stuck there and need to find his way back. Our hero will probably meet many other characters along the way and etc etc. Same old cheesy Japanese Fantasy RPG story basis. Due to my own bias towards these sort of story line I will give it 16/30
Gameplay: Who enjoys strategy rpgs? Well apparently I do and this system is executed alright. Unlike how other strategy games would play, there is no grid system. Players move their's character in a contained area that is different depending on the character. There is also certain amount of steps taken per turn and goes into the WT which determines the character's order. The attacks are all in the skills section and needs SP to fight. Something typical but not all that innovative. 14/20 points. I can deal with it!
Sound: The music is great but it doesn't differentiate too much from previous JRPG games. What really grinds me is the English voice acting. OK OK. Who plays English voices on a JRPG? I chose my own torment. This game's voice acting is beyong the usual horribleness... Stick with the Japanese voices, if you need to hear it that bad...watch the video below. 10/20 points.
Graphics: Fun little graphics similar to how Disgaea games look. It is identical in style if I think about it. The layouts are colorful and cute, just the way I enjoy it for these sort of strategy game. The none grid format of gameplay actually takes away from the graphics. It looks awkward in my opinion. 13/20 points.
Replay Value: Overall it is an alright game but through what I have played already, I think I'll push it aside for later. There isn't very many risk and reward for me to wish to continue. 7/15 points.
