Ralph took hold of his second sword while in a deadlock with his opponent. The bandit jumped back, but his sword cut a deep line in the bandit's stomach. Ralph could here the blood hit the dirt, but he was unsure of the fate of that bandit.
The other bandit he had knocked down was charging at Ralph now, loudly stomping his feet towards him in rage. Ralph blocked the bandit's downward strike using both swords as leverage. He grunted under the weight of what was probably an axe. The two of them remained in deadlock, both trying to force their way past the other.

That one on the ground was really upset, like super upset. The other one had hopped off his horse, for whatever reason, probably expelled by the sheer force of evil. Regardless, he was attacking the other dude, lance one. That wasn't good, the guy looks like just holding his weapon was a practice in impossible. The singed one, however, wasn't about to just let Elias think about being a hero, and began to charge like the madman he obviously was. Elias gestured wildly in self defense, looking not completely unlike a kid flailing when he doesn't get what he wants, another magical flame conjured itself a bit too late.
The man closed the distance and swung a powerful and muscular arm, bringing the axe down like a haymaker of destruction, slowly but probably able to separate Elias' arm from his torso if it connected. Or give him an interesting new line in his face. The mage shifted as much as he could, trying to get out of the way, his spell becoming unstable as the mage using it lost concentration halfway through. It exploded in the air, a bit too violently, and knocked both Elias and the bandit away before he could finish the axe swing. Nostrils being assailed by the sadly all too familiar smell of burnt hair, his foe wasn't quite as lucky. Laying on the ground with an angle that... wasn't quite humanly possible. Not without being double jointed in your leg... and arm... and spine... and neck. Of course Elias got off easily, being a mage and resistant to spells naturally, especially his own, the impact from crashing into the ground hurt more then the spell itself.
Standing up, and dusting his self off he put the smell of his singed scalp out of mind. Wasn't the first time, won't be the last.

Vadim gulped and nearly tripped as he jumped back out of the swing of the sword coming at his head. In that small opening the lancer swung his weapon around as hard as it could, hitting the bandit in the arm. He grunted and Vadim frowned, he had hit the man with the blunt end of the lance, Vadim was just an inch away from grabbing the pointy end. ~Oh come on! I’m not that bad!~ He thought, giving a half hearted smile at the smiling bandit as he started to back off again. ”A little help here, please!” Vadim called, realizing now that he was way out classed by this man with the sword.

"Help him out, Elias! My hands are full!" Ralph yelled in response to Vadim. He wouldn't be able to help if he wanted to, it was much too dangerous to fight anything but one on one.
Neither he nor his opponent had moved an inch, both pressing hard. So Ralph gave him a swift kick to the nether regions. Unfair to be sure, but they were bandits, who cared about being fair?
The axe bandit slowly stepped away, trying to regain his composure. Ralph prepared for the final blow, but was cut in the arm by a sword. So, the other was still alive. If only I could see... he thought to himself, as he brought his sword down on the bandit lying on the ground. A fatal blow, but for the greater good.
Ralph used his vulnerary just in time for the other bandit to return once again, now partnerless.

"Have no fear!" Elias bellowed, quickly getting into position. He was going to help the other guy regardless of the green man telling him to, still it was good to know he was going to accidentally get in the way and blow up or something. That's not pleasant at all. He had two choices here, or rather he had thousands of choices but his tunnel vision allowed him to only see two, Fire. Or Elfire. On the one hand, he knew the fire tome so well that if you just gave him enough ink and a set of magic paper he'd be able to scribe you one, he was able to cast the spells without even looking inside the book.
However... Elfire was much more powerful. Much more impressive, and added much explosive flair for his shenanigans. However, he had never cast it before. He wasn't used to it, not like Fire, if he used it it could veer out of control he could actually HURT the person he was trying to help. But it would look much cooler. Still... Coolness or not, Fire it was. Maybe he would of used Elfire before, in fact he was about to use it now, but that wasn't important. What was important was that the man was safe.
Elias tossed his arm out, his cape billowing once more in response to his crimson... His flair, his normal colored flair. White flair. The flames gathered around his hand like a rock made of flame and he hurled the stone of fire as hard as he could. "Think fast!" The brigand, one who the words think rarely come into play and certainly not coupled with fast, turned his head just in time to see the spell collide into his and creating a small but strong explosion, knocking the man clear off his feet and unto the ground. His weapon crashing as it falls to the grass. Still alive, but helpless. "Go on, finish him!"

Vadim watched the mage as he seemed to decide on what he was doing. Finally the spell came and the bandit was blasted off of his feet. The mage yelled to finish him and Vadim glanced at the mage to the bandit who had seconds ago tried to kill him. Vadim blinked once, twice, before willing himself to run his lance into the downed man’s stomach. He irked and squirmed as he started to bleed, it was by far not a clean kill and certainly no way to go. It was agony and Vadim could see it in the man’s eyes before he finally died under the younger man’s lance.
Vadim stared, his first life, the first time he had taken another’s life. Yes, it was in self defence, the bandit had been trying to kill him after all. But still, it scarred him in a way, a scar that hopefully would turn into some kind of strength. Vadim released his lance and backed away, shaking a little at what his actions had ended in.
But this is what he was training to do! He was training to become a force that could take on the people responsible for slaughtering the family who had helped him months ago. The old man’s still warm corpse flashed in his memory, the dead family, even the children. Vadim shook again and stepped back to take his lance, pulling it from the man’s stomach, blood trailing it. Now… now what?

Ralph suddenly got an idea. He pointed his sword to the remaining bandit. "Flee now and I'll let you live, or do you think you can hope to defeat the Crimson Eye?" He grinned, still loving the name he called himself (Even if nobody else did).
The bandit, seeing his comrades slaughtered all around him, decided to take up Ralph's offer and flee. "Yeah!" Ralph yelled after him, "Don't you be stealing no more, you hear?!"
Ralph wiped the blood on his sword off on the grass. "Well, I guess we should see if the old man is alright?"

"Well that's one more group of marauding banditos dispatched." He dusted the nonexistant dirt from his gloves, one of the perks of magic is that you never get yourself all bloody afterwards. A really big perk for Elias really, still he could help but be upset. His recently recieved cloak was already singed. It was going to happen eventually, but seriously the first battle? Bummer. His garb didn't matter as much, it was probably as much as burnt cloth as it was dirty and damaged cloth. He'd been wearing it ever since he left around a year ago. It probably reeked.
"Add one to the continents I've killed bandits in, all I need is Nabata and Western Isles and I got the whole set. Atleast I know where my next destination will be." He added with a smirk, speaking solely to his self. That battle wasn't very impressive, he only killed one guy and that was with a suicide like attack. His mind was still all kinds of messed up, and it felt like everything only compounded it instead of relieving it. The first time he had fought since... the ruins. And Garnet... "Ughhhh...." A snakey sigh slithered from his throat, sounding like a hiss of air. He's probably never seeing Garnet again, is he?
He didn't feel particularly like checking on the well being of an elderly man who had aligned his self with the devil. Lance guy could do it.

Vadim was still standing rather still, breathing hard as he processed what he had just done by taking another’s life. He heard what the others were saying about the situation and the old man and finally nodded, breaking his stupor. ”Y, ya, I’ll go check on him.” Vadim said and set his lance on his shoulder again before walking to where the old man had parked his cart when the fighting had started. ”Hey! Are you alright, old man?” Vadim called and a moment later the man’s head appeared from inside the wagon where he had been hiding.
He looked around at the scene and smiled. “Yes, lad I am!” He said excitedly, he was alive! Getting out of the cart he man shook Vadim’s hand quickly and roughly before moving to do the same with the other two men who had saved him. “Thank you, all of you, thank you.” He said with a broad smile. “My name doesn’t matter, but, I am a merchant, if any of you fine young men would like to look at my wares I’ll give you a hefty discount on anything you want.”
Vadim grinned, merchants, always looking for a deal and a sale. ”Sorry, but I’m rather strapped for cash, and I need what I have for food when I get to the city. But thank you.” Vadim replied with a respectful nod and looked back at the other two see what they were going to do. Sooner or later they’d get to their destinations, might take a few side trips first by the looks of it.

What would a blacksmith be doing here?
Simple! Following orders of course!
When he'd reached Laus, he'd noticed the city was preparing for war. But not war against an army, war against an unseen foe. He'd been lucky to find Master Smith Sirus again, but he hadn't stayed long. According to him, who could actually read this damn journal, this slab was some very important piece of metal. Something rare, never seen before. He was vague about what it said, saying he should find someone smart to read it to him. At the thought of someone smart, he thought of Aaron, but he had no idea where he was. So he resolved to just get out of Laus. He wanted to stay and defend the city, but his master forbade it. What they needed now, was whatever this metal could become. A new weapon...a new breakthrough. But there was one thing he knew without being told.
No fire of man was going to melt this metal. It had been in the forge for who knew how long, and it didn't even start to deform. So magical fire might be needed...maybe.
As these thoughts consumed him, the sharp clang of metal greeted his ears. Sounded like a fight! Without pausing to consider, Wyatt charged down the road. He wasn't exactly quiet, with all of his smithing supplies on his back. He came into sight and saw several things...ok, a few people...over the bodies of a few other people. Hey wait a minute! That was that blind kid from Sacae!
"Ah! We meet again. Nice to see you..." He paused, thinking over the irony of that statement. "We met in that shrine in Sacae, remember?" He looked about, spotting the mage and the spearman. "Damn, looks like I missed the fight." He said, looking at the aftermath. It then occurred to him, he'd come from the way these people were clearly heading...towards Laus. Should he mention what he knew? It might only serve to entice them.
"Name's Wyatt by the way." He said, more for the benefit of the other two.

The newcomer's voice rang in Ralph's head. That's right, the man was at the Shrine. He saw Ralph cry there, but how did he recognize Ralph?
"Damn it, Jya. A disguise is supposed to be unrecognizable..." he said to himself. "She probably went and gave me red clothes just to spite me, that's why she ran away, huh?"
Ralph regained his composure, and thanked the old man for the discount, not that he even knew what the man would sell. "So, on to Laus then? Are you going there too, Wyatt?"

Wyatt chuckled. So he got a friend to disguise him. "Well, I wouldn't blame them too much. After all, I've never met a blind sword fighter with two blades before with red covering his eyes." He explained. "I don't think I'd forget that easily."
When they mentioned they were going to Laus, Wyatt sighed. "I was afraid of that. Listen, I don't suppose I can tell you to just trust me here. You don't want to go to Laus, it isn't a good place to be right now."

"Did it explode? Are bandits overrunning it? Are children dying from petulance in the streets, writhing in misery as their parents have no choice but to end their pain themselves after staying up all night and have a long heart to heart only for a dragon to eat them all?" Dragons thought misery tasted delicious, true fact. "I mean, there's always something horrible going on for some reason." He walked over to the red haired man that totally looked like he could punch Elias in the face and he'd just shatter. Of course that was the perfect person to be a smart mouth to.
"It seems there's always something happening where I go. I swear trouble seems to just wait until some random travelers come by to spring up." It was up to heroes to fix that, but Elias wasn't really a hero anymore. He was never going to be one, so it was a moot point to even try. His mind churned the information a bit more, thinking over what was said. Grinding it into a mushy pulp. "I'm Elias, the... mage. Yes." He tried to stay a bit more subdued, well more then usual. His enthusiasm and hastiness only caused problems most of the ti-

So, Elias didn't notice. Although Ralph wasn't sure if Elias would notice if his backside were on fire.
"I don't see, that is the definition of blind after all. If you're asking about my fighting, I have to listen very carefully for my opponents weapons cutting the air. It almost sounds like whistling often. That's why I asked you to help out Vadim. I'm no good in a fight that isn't one-on-one. Not even a two-on-one where I am part of the two." There were so many problems that could easily be fixed with sight. But alas, you don't know what you've got until it is gone.

"No...No...Dear Goddess man, where do you think of these things?!" Wyatt responded to Elias. "They seemed to be preparing for a war...if you heard anything about what happened to Ostia you might have an idea. And I'm not talking about the Eturians. Something...evil has been showing itself lately. Wolves that don't act or fight like wolves, the dead rising, if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed it."
He paused for a minute, remembering. "Many of the towns and lands outlying Laus have already suffered odd and gruesome fates. I imagine it won't be long until whatever it is turns it's eyes to the city. There isn't anything to be gained there but death."
