A night in Bern, a shadow jumped between the roofs. The dark figure moved switfly without making loud sound, leaping from roof to roof like a cat. Wearing black outfit and a mask, she looked like a thief. Well, she was a thief, a thief with hair that color resembled a scarlet sky. Under the beautiful moonlight, her long hair fluttering. She held a small green box which looked expensive, but what she truly wanted was a jewel inside the box.
Asri jumped down to a dark alley, she quickly examined her surrounding upon landing. Her other hand was on her sword which was strapped diagonally in her back, to kill anyone who dared to come to her. The thief found no one in the alley, only her in this creepy place, or at least she thought she was alone. "Huh, I thought it would be more challenging. I was wrong, the security service that fatty hired made me amused by their carelessness." Asri looked disappointed, she didn't have fun night recently, the jobs were easy and boring although they did make a lot of coin.
Asri used the darkness to move undetected, she managed to reach a hotel where she resided in, with fake identity and someone's money, of course. After getting inside her room and locking the door, the thief removed her mask and walked toward the window. "Let see what those morons doing. Are they still looking for me?" She didn't light the lamp and let the room dark as she watched the guards running in the street.
Suddenly, her instinct screamed. It was something she got for living in this dangerous world, an ability to feel killing intent, which had saved her countless times. But what happened? "This is...? Someone's here! In my room!" Asri turned around in time to block a punch directed to her. This darkness hid the attacker's face, leaving Asri wondering. "Hell, who are you?" The two enganged in hand-to-hand combat, exchanging fists and kicks. Nothing connected though, both were able to dodge every attacks and strike back with great speed. "Uh, he is strong..." Asri had confidence in close combat, but this opponent was as strong as her, or stronger than her.

Asri was forced to admit that her opponent was better in term of strength. She felt like being hit with an iron club everytime she parried her opponent's punch. Knowing that she would lose if she didn't change her tactic, the thief tried to dodge instead of hurting herself by parrying those powerful attacks. "I can't win like this..." Usually, she would run from a direct fight. Coward? Maybe not. She only chose to fight if the winning chance was good, otherwise she would choose to escape from the battle. But this man didn't give her enough space, he kept pushing her into defensive.
Asri glanced at the sword in her bed as she dodged an uppercut, she felt angry to herself for leaving her sword there, a weapon could make a difference in any battle. When she was distracted, her opponent launched an consecutive attack, she managed to dodge two of them before a kick successfully hit her stomach. Air left her lungs and the cunning thief was forced to stand on her knees. The mysterious man didn't waste the chance, he quickly moved behind her then strangled her in his arms. "Damn! Get away from me!" Asri shouted as she struggled to get away. She could swear she heard the man laugh near her ears, probably laughing for her defeat. Really, this man made her pissed. But actually this was a good chance, Asri slammed the back of her head into his face. "Ouch!!!" The man shouted in pain. He got a nosebleed because of the attack. Seeing a chance to break free, Asri did it in an instant.
"Uuuh..." Asri could hear the man groaning in pain as she dashed toward the bed to grab her sword. With an acrobatic jump, she moved above the bed and drew her sword from its sheath. "Hey hey wait a moment! I have an explanation for this." The man tried to say more, but Asri was already angry, her eyes were sparkling killing intent. "Explain it in hell!"
Second round just began.

The unnamed man tried to draw his sword, Asri saw it, she wouldn't let him. Diving forward, she swung her sword toward his scabbard. She managed to separate the weapon from his belt, leaving the man unarmed for the time being. She didn't stop here, the thief ducked lower using her free hand to support her body. In a swift move, which was hard to be seen because the room was dark, Asri lauched her heel toward enemy's head with an acrobatic stunt.
A painful shriek was heard when the man got hit by Asri's heel, to make thing worse she even wore boots with a sharp metal attached. Blood running down his forehead, covering his eyes with the red liquid. The man was forced to step backward, holding the fresh wound in his face. Couldn't see anything, he felt another pain in his thigh, Asri had stabbed him. "This is bad. She is going to kill me! I've heard she never spared her opponent's life." The man was filled with fear of death. He cried when the sword was pulled out of his flesh, probably to attack once more. "No! Wait! I have something for you!" He slipped his hand into his pocket and took a letter.
Asri frowned. "What the meaning of this?" She lowered her sword and glared at the man. "You have ten seconds." The man looked pale instantly, he understood her words, ten seconds to explain his reason for attacking her or die. "F-Forgive me. I was sent here to give you this letter. But I was told to test you first before handing the letter, if you can't even beat me then I are not worthy for the task." He spoke very fast, it almost sounded like a babbling than speaking. Well, he only had ten seconds. "Task? Test?" Asri's tone sent fear to the man's heart. She was clearly annoyed. A test? Did someone doubt her ability? "Y-Yes...My e-employer wanted to know whether you live up to your reputation or not, Miss..." As soon as the man finished speaking, Asri took the letter from him. The thief threw it to the floor and stomped it. "Thank you for your hard work," she said as she moved forward and touched his face gently. "Eh?" The man was shocked, he didn't expect the gentle touch. But that was his last word in this world.
(Timeskip to morning...)
"Good morning, Miss Raika." The innkeeper greet a red-haired guest. The woman didn't respond and only threw some cold coins to the innkeeper's desk. "I am out this afternoon. Prepare my breakfast, anything is fine," she said coldly. While walking toward an empty table, she threw a glance through the room, looking for someone suspicious. She might be too cautionous, but, after last night incident she wouldn't let herself being careless anymore.
The woman, who was called Raika, leaned to her table waiting for her food. Well, that wasn't her real name, actually.

"Raika...what a nice name...But I prefer calling you with your other name..."
"Don't stand behind me or I will kill you..."
Asri glanced at the man behind her, a middle-aged man with clean face. She already knew who he was so she didn't bother to ask. Smirking, the man moved toward the empty chair across Asri and sat on it. "A jerk who sent that damn letter I suppose?" That man didn't answer immediately and just stared at Asri's hair. "Your hair is as beautiful as the rumors say."
"Better to send your men to clean the room upstairs. The innkeeper wouldn't be pleased to find a rotten meat in my room," she spoke with a sarcastic tone. The man smiled, his wicked smile forced Asri to hold herself from slitting his throat. "I know. He didn't come back yesterday. That means you get perfect score." The crimson haired thief ignored his words and watched as the man seemed to take something out of his pocket. It was a paper, the man started to read it. "Hardly leaving any evidences or witnesses. It seems to be true." He then folded the paper and put it on the table. "Anyway, have you read my letter?" Asri gave him a playful smirk. "No?"
"Forget it...I am leaving." Asri was about to leave her seat when the man threw a small bag onto the table. The thief smiled, it seemed the man understood how to make her accept a job. "My name is Grey." The man introduced himself. "To make it short, I want to hire you to work for me." Asri looked down at the man named Grey, he didn't seem like a charismatic person before but now he began to show his true nature. Well, but she wouldn't accept his offer easily, he had underestimated her ability by sending someone to test her, that was unforgivable. "I think I must refu..." "6000 gold coins..." Asri was surprised, that was a lot of money.
"Hihihi...You are an interesting person," she said as she sat back on her seat. "Tell me the details..." She looked interested. Grey chuckled when she did, this woman was weird and unique, she could be bought with money. "Well, what do you think about you working as a spy?"

"Actually, that would be a new experience for me..." Asri frowned as she said. The female thief had ever done many dangerous jobs, but working as someone's spy wasn't in the list. No matter how she loved money, Asri wanted to be free, she didn't want to be a "pet" for anyone. She would take the job if it was only a short-term contract, but this time seemed to be different. The money this man offered was too much for normal and easy jobs, she couldn't expect herself to avoid troubles if she accepted his offer. "Really? You just need to sneak into a base then do some eavesdropping and sabotaging. Not too hard for someone like you, huh?" Grey grinned at her, Asri responded with a small giggle. His flattery wouldn't work, she knew this man was trying to make her accept this job. Still, his offer wasn't too bad, actually. Asri wanted to face a dangerous but interesting and profitable job, this was a good chance. "Tell me more..."
They spent a hour discussing this job, Grey never felt tired answering Asri's questions. In fact, he was using this chance to flirt sometimes although she never gave the response he wanted. Briefly, Grey was someone from the military, he told her that a rebel group had been attacking some supply routes and outposts with guerilla tactic. They attacked as fast as lightning and retreated as silent as shadow, the military couldn't find their base. But recently they got an information that this group was recruiting people.
"I see...The plan is to send me there to join them. Then I will provide you with information and follow your instruction depending on the situation. Am I right?" Asri took a cup of tea after she finished talking, this long negotiation made her throat sore. "Something like that. So, will you do it?" Asri was silent for a few seconds before she nodded.
"Perfect." Grey clapped his hands as he said. "Ah, I've forgotten something. I also hire another charming woman for this mission...Hmm...Where is she?"

OOC: Thanks for taking me in Mana xD Now, to hope my RP skills are up to par...
"Making me run around like this, looking for an inn...This guy is so unorganized." Nera was to meet a man in an inn, and she found herself standing outside the only inn she had not checked, breathing heavily. Groups of people walked by her, not noticing that she was reaching for the blade on her hip--she had been told she would need it. She walked up to the door, slowly turning the knob and letting the door swing open with the help of a little push from her foot. The innkeeper opened his mouth to say something, but Nera walked by without taking apparent notice, being drawn to a table with a certain red haired woman. "No need to strain yourself." Nera said, waving the innkeeper away. "I'm just here to have a little chat.
Nera arrived at the table, standing beside a middle aged she assumed to be the man she was looking for. She was there for a job, and while arriving late enough for the phrase 'speak of the devil' to work, being a few minutes slow would not get her fired--or so she believed.
"My apologies for being late." Nera said innocently. She pulled a seat out but pushed it back in, deciding to stand instead. She took a look around the room, then fixed her eyes on the woman sitting across from her. "Am I going to be working with Ms. Beautiful red hair?" A slight smile crept across her face.

OoC : Yay^^ I think this will be a good RP for us^^
Asri, however, felt a little irritated. How far actually did this man doubt her ability? So she wasn't the only one he hired for this mission? Great! Sighing, she decided to let it slide, for now. Looking to the side, she saw a brunette girl carrying a tray with a bowl of soup. Although she had lost her appetite, (thank to this man) she appreciated that her breakfast came faster than she expected. The thief closed her eyes and ignored the waitress as the girl put the bowl in front of the red-haired customer.
"Oh, speak of the devil." The man sounded excited and happy at the same time. "Don't worry. You are not late...a little, maybe. And I hope you have read my letter, otherwise I have to explain the mission once more..." The man smiled as he waited for Nera to sit close to him, he liked sitting close to beautiful woman, but then that hope was ruined. "Yes, she will be your partner. Hey, Scarlet...There she is."
Lazily, Asri opened her eyes and glanced at Nera, she didn't seem interested although Nera just complimented her hair. She sighed once before leaning forward. "Will you be any help to me? I don't like working with incompetent person," she said as she looked directly to Nera's eyes. Grey immediately glanced at Nera, he forgot to tell her about Asri's bad habit. "Oh St Elimine."

OOC: Yep this will be a very good RP indeed. I can just hear the sarcasm, insults and snide remarks coming from these two xD
Nera returned Asri's stare, keeping it up for a while before blinking. "Incompetent? I suppose it depends on how high your standards are...I'm not too sure myself." Nera shook her head. Suddenly the dull sound of a bowl being placed on a table caught her attention and she ran over besides Asri. She fanned her hand next to the bowl, curious to get a hint of what was inside it. "But..." She said as she took a sniff. "I just hope you're not a hypocrite, Ms.Scarlet."
She took one more whiff before looking around the table, realizing--she actually had already known--that the soup belonged to Asri. "Ah." Nera exclaimed as she pondered what could have possibly been put in that broth. Her legs began to tire, and she pulled up a seat next to Asri, being rather wary of Grey's smile. "Now, when exactly are we going to commence this mission?"

Asri just stared at Nera as the Novice sniffed her meal, talked to her, and sat near her. Her eyes was showing no glimpse of anger, though, she didn't really care what she did. "Is she a brave or a fool? Or just an annoying b***h?" she thought. That was her meal and she didn't like if anyone sniffing it. Asri felt a light tap on her feet, she looked at Grey, his eyes telling Asri not to make commotion here. It seemed he thought the thief would do something to Nera for trampling over her pride. Actually, for Asri, this wasn't enough to make her draw her sword.
"We are not going anywhere, Miss. Not until I know why I have to do this job with you," she said. Asri turned her eyes toward the man across her. "You know, I always prefer to work alone, Grey." Grey laughed and rubbed the back of his head before he leaned to the table. "I wouldn't waste our precious time telling you about this beautiful girl's amazing ability. You have to find out."
Asri grumbled, this man just avoided her question. She glanced at the girl beside her, he said her name was Nera. "Nera, isn't it? Just don't make me die, okay?" she said before drinking her tea. Grey just looked at her and Nera, hoping the would go along well because they actually didn't have much time, because...
"Actually, their recruitment will start in...two hours from now," he said with his usual smile, saying like they wouldn't have problem preparing themselves in only two hours.
That made Asri choke, she spouted the tea to Grey's face.

Nera followed the path of the tea from Asri's mouth to Grey's face. Normally, it would have been an entertaining scene, but she was too bothered by Grey's revelation. Two hours? She thought. Does this man think he's hired a professional spy or something? Her eyes narrowed slightly at Grey before calming herself down. "Two hours...Two hours.." She murmured
Nera stood up and grabbed a cloth from an adjacent table. She wiped their own table down, then for a second hesitated before throwing the cloth back onto the table--she decided to just leave Grey soaked in tea. Nera folded her hands as she took her seat back to the left of Asri. She exhaled. "Well this isn't too major of a drawback. Don't you agree, Miss?"

OoC : Sorry I was busy and tired.
Asri wiped her mouth and looked at Nera. "Nera...We don't have enough information or preparation to start with," she said. "And I haven't sold this thing. I can't bring it with me to the mission." The thief unconsciously touched a small pouch in her belt, the jewel she stole yesterday was inside it. She sighed again as she glared at Grey, the man was still wiping her face a cloth, he didn't look angry at all. Asri began to feel slightly annoyed by his creepy smile. "You make me want to refuse this mission. But those golds are too...tempting."
Asri got up from her seat and looked down to the man, hands on waist. "Just tell me...us...Where is it? Surely they wouldn't randomly recruit people in the city plaza." She swore, after this mission was finished and she got her gold she would decapitate this man. Looking at the thief, not noticing her death glare, Grey only chuckled at her comment. "Well, that'll help us. But no, unfortunately, they are not that stupid." Grey leaned on her seat as she gave the cloth to a waitress. "There is an old, unused mansion in the west district. I don't need to explain who own the place now, you know who and why."
Grey left her seat and started walking toward the door, leaving the girls to prepare for their mission. But before he reached the door he turned around and said, "Alright, girls. Do your best! Now I must go and find another girl to join you so you can start calling me Charlie." He laughed before finally disappeared behind the door.
Asri just sighed, she didn't understand his joke. "Who's Charlie anyway?" This mission became complicated, a weird employer and less information, and also a partner who she couldn't trust. Well, she never had a partner before. "Geez...So, what now?" she asked Nera.

"Charlie? It sounds like a horrible, unoriginal code name." Nera looked around, making sure that 'Grey' wasn't in the room, even if she had seen him leave. "But, wouldn't it be fun if we just blew his cover after this mission?"
Nera quickly stood up and knocked her chair over as she did it. It caught the attention of a few men behind her, and she returned their looks with one of annoyance, forcing them to go back to eating their food. She walked around to Asri and kneeled down, curious about the thing she wanted to sell. Nera clawed like a little kitten at the pouch, until she finally made out the item inside. With two of her fingers she opened the pouch slightly, enough to see the dim reflection of the inn lights.
"My my, now doesn't that look expensive?" Nera poked the bag one more time before standing up. "We could head to the mansion right now, or we could sell that thing. So, what's your choice?."

Asri couldn't believe her eyes, Nera just did something that hurt her pride. Never, in her life, she allowed someone to get this close and touch her without a good reason, if any. Well, it seemed she had got an annoying comrade, after all. Touching her sword slightly, she didn't hide her desire to slice Nera. But she needed to hold back, surely killing someone in this crowded place wasn't a good idea. "Sweet Nera." Her words sounded threatening. Although she was smiling, that wasn't a sincere smile, it was more like a warning or a threat. "I don't like people touching me, directly or indirectly. Also, I ever killed some of my previous partners...Don't make me repeat those mistakes..." She talked about Nera, obviously, and she wasn't joking.
Nera asked a good question. Her choice? Asri couldn't really decide. Bringing this thing to the mission would risk it to the danger of being lost or stolen, but in the other side it was difficult to find a good buyer in two hours. "Great. Now I've got another headache," she said as she put her hand on her forehead. "Seems like I don't have choice..." She sighed as she gave up.
"Lets get going!" Asri walked toward the door without waiting for Nera, she didn't want to walk side by side like good friends with her. "That will be disgusting..." she thought.

Nera grinned as Asri walked towards the door. So this is your true personality, eh Ms.Scarlet? You did a fairly good job hiding it when we first met, but little subtle hints just made me want to see how nasty you could get! [/i]Nera thought as she got up, excited. She ran out of the door past Asri, grabbing the door of the handle and gingerly closing the door.
She quickly passed Asri, suggesting that she wanted to lead them. Nera did this on purpose, taking the lead so that she could lead them through a specific route. She turned to her partner. "If you would like, we could drop that gem off at one of my hideouts. We should pass it on our way to the mansion." Nera inconspicuously picked up a gem sized rock as she looked around and waited for an answer, putting it inside her robe.

Asri just put meaningful smile at Nera's suggestion. For someone like her, who rarely trusted people, the offer sounded like stupid joke. This gem was worth a lot of money, that was the reason why she decided to keep it close to her. Bringing it into the mission was a difficult decision she had made, but she doubted she could get good price in the black market in a short time, there wasn't much choice left. "Oh that's a generous offer. Why don't you give your bank account so I could transfer some money later?" she said as she clapped her hand, acting like excited and happy, but surely Nera would realize that she wasn't. "But thank you. It's safer in my possession," she added, crossing her arms as she did. "Is she interested to it? I can't drop my guard around her." Asri became a bit uncomfortable.
"Lets talk about another thing. You must know that I didn't buy it in a bread shop. Talking about it in public street isn't a good idea." Actually, just hearing about gem wouldn't make people suspicious, unless they said its name. Asri hoped Nera didn't know the name. "We live in the same world. Of course you understand." Smirking and staring at the black haired girl, the thief moved toward her and wrapped her arm around her. Of course it wasn't supposed to be friendly.
"Say, do you think? Our employer will pay us?" she asked with a meaningful tone. Asri had several experiences which her employers tried to kill her after she finished the missions, that way more efficient and cheaper than paid her to shut her mouth.
