"I... I don't know. I wouldn't worry about it if I was you." Hal couldn't hide the smile from ear to ear he had, Elesia had appeared to be unharmed and it was because of Hal. Sure he didn't slay any of them zombies but he did pull her to safety and but a stroke of dumb luck ran into the real heroes, whoever they were.
"I am the word of the Prophet, without me your soul is damned to hell." The mouthy swordsmen threw arms in a circular motion starting from his chest "If you haven't noticed, but it looks like Hell on Elibe even with you here, you're just a worthless sack of sh-" The man saw throw his lance into what seemed their leader's former wife stepped between them "Clayton, calm down. Do you want to look like an ass in front of your daughter?" "f**k you" mumbled Clayton. The priest began to speak again "I was preforming my normal rituals to bless this town when the dead rose and began to attack the city." A man in the group of the remaining towns people shouted out suggesting he summoned them himself to show people the truth power of faith while a few seemed to agree with him. The man with the large axe had been talking to a few of the people before he approached Halesia.
He introduced himself as Darren as he stuck his hand out to Hal, grabbing it the two shook hands, Darren noticed Hal's armor on the ground "They told me you two flew in on a wyvern. Those colors are of Illia but the armor doesn't look like it came from Illia. Who do you fly for.. I'm sorry I didn't get your name." "Hal. I fl...fly...fo..for..." Hal didn't want to admit he just got Sol, he had to make up something and fast. "Lady Elesia! I'm her... Pro...tector." If questioned Hal wouldn't lie, this guy scared him more than the zombies. "Well, I only moved here a year ago from Bern so I can't say who's welcome or not to stay here since that bastard tries to control everything but you can stick around as long as you like." Darren had started to turn to go back to the others.
Did he say he was from Bern?!? "WAIT!" Hal shouted, Darren stopped to look back. "Have you heard anything about a town named Seatol?" He stood there a second thinking, his response caused Hal's heart to feel as if it dropped. 'Captured by the rebels' Hopefully his family was okay. Darren had joined the others in their 'friendly' conversation.
That news made Hal upset, but on the other hand he was very happy Elesia was alright. He turned to her smiling "So, Lady Elesia, are you doing okay? Were you hurt at all fighting those things?" This whole time Sol had been actively searching the skies, he saw that dragon go somewhere but he missed where. He didn't trust that thing at all.

"Great job, sir. Thanks for the save. Might I know your name?"
The reply--and question, no less--from the elder warrior surprised Aeros; after all, it wasn't often that a manakete could rampage around a battlefield and then be greeted by what amounted to, 'Hi! How are you?' Never-the-less, he managed to say a halting, "Aeros," before a movement caught his eye. He nearly lunged at it before realizing what it was: the wall of a house had crumpled inward, covering the interior in dust that was quickly settling. Surveying the area, Aeros noted that most of the enemies seemed to be of the non-moving, harmless variety. The most present danger seemed to be the mauled buildings.
Speaking of mauled buildings...
The manakete, suddenly feeling every second of his gleeful rampage, almost literally collapsed into human form, not even bothering to fold his wings in. From the damaged surroundings, it was obvious that he hadn't restrained himself at all; he could barely remember any of it, just occasional images and some unspeakable rage that he had never felt before, underpinned by glee at...what had it been?
Tired as he was, he wasn't sure he cared.
Finally regaining enough energy to stand, Aeros clambered shakily to his feet before focusing--such as it was--on the two humans who were, apparently, his allies. It took him another moment to sort himself out completely, but he finally managed to grind out, "I think if there's anyone left, they'll...be in the center court...yard." Before he had finished the thought, he noticed the body lying nearby.
Even after a month, Aeros wasn't familiar with every single citizen in the town, but he recognized this one, if not by name. He only just managed to keep steady as he walked past her to the square. They would collect the dead when they regrouped; this had been a battlefield, after all, and the dead weren't collected until the battle was completely over.

Abel looked at Aeros. Is he ok? he silently asked himself. He answered dad and then sorta.... flipped out and drifted off.
"Well, we should get going," Abel said to Marco, giving the sword back. "Thanks for the sword but it doesn't look like I'll need it." They headed off toward where Abel had seen the other's earlier.
"So what are you doing here?" Abel asked his father. "Lycia's a bit far from home."
"Oh, I was on my way home from Bern and thought I'd see how things were going," Marco said. "I'd heard strange things were going on in Lycia. I didn't think I'd find them in Pherae. The real question is what are you doing here?"
"Oh, you know, traveling around, sight seeing," Abel said, grinning. "Though it seems the locals aren't too nice." They chuckled and walked in silence the rest of the way.The shabby group came to the broken gate, taking in the sight of corpses strown everywhere. Abel caught sight of Halesia and moved toward them. I hope they don't try to kill me this time...
"Hey guys, how'd it go on your end?" Abel asked, oblivious to the fact that he had come at the wrong moment. "We didn't find any surviviors. Oh, and this is my Dad, Marco." He had worn smile on his face.

"Pffft. I'm too awesome to worry about anything."
Which was about as true as most of what she said, which was to say not at all, but hopped up on the glow of victory and slightly delirious from overexertion, Elesia was less worried about factual accuracy than she might have been normally. Which was also... not at all. Hal's smile was oddly infectious, like a hive of worms in her brain; she felt it creeping over her own face. Sort of like contorting her mouth to scream, but a bunch happier?
"Snerk. Pfeh." Snickering incoherently to herself at how little sense that had made even in the glorious confines of her own vast intellect, Elesia draped one arm around Hal's shoulder, leaning against him less in a planned action so much as the sudden realization that her legs weren't actually working anymore. It turned out that fire was actually really hot and apparently shielding one's own body from flames... very close to said body... was harder than she had thought. Technically it was just the magickey stuff, she hadn't actually caught on fire, but some downtime sounded absolutely lovely before she tried to do any fire kicking stuff again.
But man that had been awesome. Elesia, still grinning like a retard, decided that she needed to name the move something incredibly witty and amazing, since it was exactly that. Much like its progenitor. Something kick, maybe. Rider kick? Nah, that was dumb, and who would call themselves rider anyways? Elesia Kick sounded more amazing.
Or DYNAMIC EEEENTRYYYYY. With the caps conveyed through a lot of yelling and volume and stuff. She nodded to herself, deciding to confer with Hal on the subject later, before remembering that he was actually still right there. And talking about stuff she didn't actually understand. "...Uhh... yeah! Heroes of time have to stick up for each other and stuff!" Then, several decibels lower - "What's a lady?"
Pause.
Beat.
"Wait, if he can summon loyal minions with his magic, why can't I? That's BULL SH..." Oh. Right. Virgin ears. Like Hal's. She amended her comment, finishing lamely with a mumbled "...really dumb."

When Elesia had put her arm upon him and leaned towards him he thought she was about to fall so he put his arms under her armpits and wrapping them around her as if he was going to embrace her. Hal started to feel guilty, everybody else seemed tired or wore out while he just began to feel the effects of his run. It seemed like he didn't try hard enough, sure his arms were sore from holding on the lance and stabbing things but he safely sat up top of Sol who did the real fighting while Elesia had put herself in harms way to fight the undead back. A quick hunger pain struck Hal for a brief moment, he shot a glace to Sol, it's been a while since any of them had a meal. Hal shrugged his shoulders " A lady is... Well, I really don't know... I heard some nobles refer to some women in that manner so I thought to apply it to you." He turned his head looking at Sol once again " I think I'm going to take Sol out to look for something for him to eat, rest here while we're out." Hal pulled Elesia closer hugging her for a moment, if wasn't for her he would have just ran from the danger of the zombies before and he wouldn't have began to live out his dream of becoming a flyer. Letting her go he waited a few seconds to make sure he was just paranoid earlier and she wouldn't fall to the ground. Mounting up the two took off to the sky in a sluggish manner. The boy commanded Sol to the sky, said something bout food that's a good thing. They flew a bit to the east looking for something for Sol's meal, there was something down below, there was a horse with something attached to it. Sol went for a full nose dive, getting closer to the ground Sol could see two human trying to take lunch, swooping past them he tail swiped at one while taking his time to bank around and return. One of them seemed determined to take it, nope mine, Sol stretched out his talons as he flew towards the man only for him to get away. By time Sol turned back around they were gone so he tackled the horse and began to feast. Hal almost had a heart attack as Sol dived, oh god there were bandits and Sol wanted to fight them? All Hal could do is hold on tight and pray for the best. Apparently the winged beast had scared them away because they ran of- Without hesitating Hal jumped off of Sol's back rolling as he hit the ground, without those men there Sol went right for the horse and Hal didn't want to be on his back as he fed. Getting up he brushed himself off, he had some minor scrapes and bruises on his arms he began to look around, there were a few dead bodies of what Hal thought to be the owners of the overturned wagon, their belongings looked to be ransacked and scattered. As Hal went to sit down a small flicker of red light caught his eye near the pile of clothes, shifting them around he found a tome marked 'Elfire' underneath them all, strange he would find that there. It had a picture of a fire on the cover and Elesia seemed to like it, maybe it she would find interest in it. He flipped through the pages as Sol ate, he couldn't understand a thing in it, granted he wasn't that strong at reading but he could recognize some words but everything seemed so... alien to him. Sighing he shut the book setting it in his lap, Sol came happily trotting around the wagon, with the blood smeared across his face it almost looked as if he was smiling which made Hal chuckle, maybe he enjoyed what he ate or just the fact he got something to eat. Mounting back up the two flew back to town and back to the courtyard. Things looked back between the townspeople and the priest dude but none of that was any concern to Hal, he searched around for Elesia, once he saw her he held the book behind his back and approached her. " I got you something!" Hal said that with a smile on his face, deep down he felt bad for knowing he stole it from a deceased person and was going to lie about it. He pulled his arm from behind him and extended the book to Elesia.

In one of the many lovable ways of irony, Aeros' exhaustion saved him from a bit of trouble: just before he arrived within view of the surviving townsfolk, he scraped one of his exposed wings on against a building as the trio--the two swordsmen and the manakete--headed through town. Startled, the dragon lagged a bit as he hastily tried to fit his extra limbs into there usual places under his tunic. He felt clumsy and...well, broken seemed to strong a term. Maybe a bit fractured, yes.
I...I've never felt that angry before...have I...? About a dozen of the incorrect memories that had plagued him for the past several years came up, clamoring for his approval, each one lucid in a twisted way that let him know they were wrong, wrong, wrong[/b]. Had he just been better off without anything to go on? That grey time when he had felt like some kind of puppet, something that twitched if some strings were pulled and blew in the wind when they weren't.
Looking back, he saw that Abel and his father were talking, probably regaling each other with...whatever they had been doing. What had the swordsman been doing since Aeros had seen him last? As he pondered the question, Aeros started to feel a little forlorn. He had no idea who half of these people were anymore; he understood that humans had a much shorter lifespan than his kind, but all of them seemed to have so much more in their lives, events that they shared, lessons learned. Yes, he had some of his own now; it didn't change the fact that there was something missing in his memory, and he wanted it back.
He could only lose this fight, so he returned to staring at the path ahead until they finally reached the fenced-in compound.
Movement in the sky! Something was approaching at lightning speed, diving straight for the compound as shouts rose up at the sight of it. Suddenly energized, Aeros tensed up to make a sprint for the courtyard, neither knowing nor caring whether his energy would hold out for--
The sudden burst of energy disappeared when the manakete recognized the wyvern and rider from earlier. Why they were suddenly flying in, he had no idea, but the lack of any combative noises (aside from the shouting, which sounded more angry than panicked) indicated that all was still well. -Ish.
The manakete wearily finished the rest of the walk to the compound.
It was encouraging to see how many had survived, although Aeros was disappointed to see that the priest who lorded over the town was still in one piece; with his unbelievable sense of entitlement, it was surprising that he hadn't been cut to ribbons trying to demand the zombies form an orderly line. He hadn't bothered Aeros himself very much, but it was annoying listening to him bellowing about Etruria and his own piousness day after day.
Ignoring the argument as much as possible--and the other combatants, whom Abel seemed intent on engaging in conversation--Aeros skulked through the crowd until he came across something that passed for a seat. He honestly didn't care what it was; he simply put his head in his hands and tried to rest.

Ignored. What is with these people? Abel thought. Hal and Elesia seemed t completely ignore him, and it looked like Aeros had wondered off. Seriously, do I smell or something?
"Are they always like this?" Marco asked his son, raising an eyebrow.
"Actually I sorta just met them," Abel said, embarassed. "They're... very strange, the girl in green, Elesia, thought I was a zombie and the guy in blue beat me over the head with a wyvern tail and then preceeded to try and kill me because of the Bern rebellion."
"I told you people wouldn't like that," Marco said chuckling. He had been mad when he first heard Abel joined the rebelion but in the end it was a valuable experience. Besides he wasn't there now so what did it matter. "Well since your being ignored, lets see how your fighting is doing."
They walked off a ways, Abel protesting the entire way. Marco tossed the sword from earlier at Abel. Abel caught it, and Marco took the sword from his waist. Abel looked at the blade in his hand. It didn't seem to have a guard, just a nice, straight double edged blade connected to a hilt.
"Alright, don't hold back," Marco said. Abel gulped. He hadn't dueled his father in a long time, and he had never won. Nor did he think he ever would. "Lets see if your dream to be a great swordsman has come any closer to reality."
"Wait, shouldn't we check on the villagers? And we just got done fi-" Abel didn't finish, he was too busy leaping to the side to dodge his father's sword.

"I'm not a laaaaaaady, I'm a... a something BETTER. Like a bear!"
Elesia's sing-song tones positively trilled with confidence and assurance, still boosted by not having died horribly in the fight earlier. Not that she was likely to admit this to Hal, obviously, but she had come closer to running out of juice than she would have liked, and the brush with danger was forcing her to be even more exuberant than usual to avoid thinking too deeply on the subject. Why worry about the past when it had all worked out in the end, right?
As such she had gone absolutely nowhere by the time Hal returned, other than to relocate up into the tree she had been leaning against, swinging her legs in boredom while wondering how easy it would be to set on fire. With plenty of time to herself, she had already planned a perfect landing by the time it was time to do so; she hopped down, loosing a small burst of flame just before landing to cushion the impact - and realizing in the process that using the concussive force of an explosion to dampen the minor impact of dropping a few feet was a horrible idea.
Ever the opportunist, Elesia adapted reflexively, striking a heroic(?) pose as she regained her balance as if she'd planned the entire debacle. She began speaking without preamble, initially entirely clueless to his own effort to communicate. "So I was thinking we should have, like, POSES and stuff, 'cuz we're the heroes of stuff and... wait, huh?"
A book?
Trailing off as her face contorted into an expression that vaguely resembled a very confused teenage girl, she opted to respond to his short speech and offered gift with a very expressive blink before realizing that she was supposed to take it - people offering her stuff was not something she was used to, the norm being her taking things and hoping she didn't get caught, and she hadn't taken Hal as a fellow practitioner of the dark arts. Er, magic. There was nothing dark about setting people on fire with your brain, because fire was bright, and bright things couldn't be dark just by definition, duh!
The merest gossamer-light touch of the book sent lightning through her fingers, a tiny spark enkindled into an inferno rushing through her body. "Strong magic," she breathed huskily, a sense of wonder pervading her tone. There was no need to actually read the tome to get a sense of the doors it opened, phantasmal visions of magical leylines and nexuses alike that she had never before considered when casting. The feeling was oddly natural and alien alike - she could almost feel her understanding expanding, ideas and concepts springing into her mind, all ripe to be tested, experimented with...
...And used to set things on fire.
The barest hint of glimmering tendrils of light shone behind her as she pirouetted in place, the light of the sun itself erupting from the palm of her hand. Sound and fury, light and heat; a cacophonous stream of animate flame that engulfed its victim in an empyreal inferno.
The tree never stood a chance.
Squealing in giddy excitement, her trilling glee only interrupted by a jumping tackle to her next victim, a sloppy kiss, and then vaulting off of Hal in order to inspect the disintegrating ruins of the fire victim. She was most proud of having remembered to only set one of them on fire - it was sometimes hard to remember that sometimes victims could be people who WEREN'T screaming in agony while on fire.

He had a headache. It had been a little while since he'd had a headache, and while it wasn't necessarily a good thing, it cleared his head...
...somewhat. That really didn't make sense, so maybe it just had to do with sitting down.
The manakete debated on whether to get up or not; with the annoying priest taking charge, rebuilding and identifying the dead and missing would take several days, even without the interference (bickering) of the newcomers. He certainly wasn't very injured himself, despite his panic at the cut above his eye, which meant that he didn't have anything particularly important to do besides search for survivors that he knew.
That meant either going to the priest--since he believed himself to be their brilliant leader--searching through the dazed and confused people, or...there were those three that he had joined up with, for just a little while, and looking around quickly revealed that two of them, at least, were within easy enough reach. And that one of them was about to--
Fwoosh
...It was either the priest or the crazy girl with a fire tome.
How did I stay here this long? Aeros thought forbodingly as he headed to the couple that had just blown up a tree. The green-haired girl--who he naturally only remembered because of her hair, not because she was a complete nutter-butter--was staring in rapture at the remains of the tree, so Aeros made the sensible decision of moving to the other side and speaking to the more-or-less sane-looking wyvern rider instead.
He managed to get around her, wondering in the back of his mind why an exploding tree had failed to gain attention, and then faced his most difficult challenge yet: finding something to say.
What had he come over here for again? "Doing something while avoiding the priest" seemed like a bit of a lame plan n-"Are you alright," he blurted. There. It was out of the way.

"Enough," Abel said, jumping away from his father. "This isn't the time for this! Look at these people." He pointed at the haggard people they had passed on their way there. "They just went through hell, and all you want to do is spar?" He was getting angry.
"They lost their homes and their family, and on top of that, they were even attacked by their family!" He threw the sword to the ground. "This may be how you do things, but I'll not stand by while people are in need." He stormed off, furious. Marco smiled.
How could he- "Argh," Abel seethed with anger. He looked at the tired and worn people as he walked by. This is what I've been looking for, a chance to help, people to protect. No one should have to live through this. It's not right. A fiery explosion brought him from his thoughts.
That woman is crazy Abel thought as he caught sight of the others. He shook his head, his thoughts turning back to the people. What can we- FIRE! He ran up to the group hurriedly, an idea forming in his head.
"Hey, Elesia, can you cook with your magic?" Abel asked excitedly. He saw Aeros and had another idea. "Aeros, could you get some game for us to cook for the villagers? They look like they could use it." He began to smile as the possibility of helping the poor people grew.

Hal had felt joy when Elesia had snatched the book from his hands and began to read it, at least one of them could read... Or was she just looking at the pictures if there were any? By this point Hal shouldn't find anything she had done to be a surprise but, she had defiantly surprised him. That poor tree never stood a chance, and neither did Hal when she glomped him. He was stunned when she landed that sloppy kiss, did she just LICK him? He watched her in horror and confusion as she started to inspect the tree. What in the actual f**k just happened? All he knew was a flash of light, hitting the ground with the girl on top of him, then her tongue running across his face. Hal sat up a bit, leaning on his left elbow when the boy he briefly met walked up with wings? and asked if he was alright.
Before he could respond Sol came charging in, wings flared up hissing at the boy. Hal got to his feet as quickly as he could and got in front of Sol trying to prevent him from getting to the boy, it was pointless the young wyvern was much stronger than Hal and pushed him towards Aeros. "What the hell got into you Sol? Elesia help!" Did the beast know something Hal didn't? Maybe he senses a threat from him now that he strangely has wings or he was trying to assert his role as the alpha male against a... human? with scaly wings. But really what was his story, did he just find some fake wings and put them on or something? Maybe they were made from baby wyvern wings and Sol recognizes that so he's trying to scare the boy away.
Sol's head went past Hal, he was baring fangs now, Hal noticed that dirtbag swordsman talking to Elesia now. He didn't have time to worry about what he said. Sol didn't seem like he wasn't going to back down, turning to Aeros "I think it's best you leave us alone, I don't know what's wrong with him and I can't control him." Some wyvern rider Hal was, he couldn't even keep his partner under control. This situation was looking bad for everybody, it was even discouraging for Hal since he couldn't get Sol to settle down.
Meanwhile the villagers had seemed to form an angry mob and approached the priest before the group that saved them all formed a small wall between them. They had disliked the way he showed up and tried to take control of the town before he banished them away but that wasn't an excuse to behave in such a manner. Darren called out to Clayton who responded with a nod. As Darren spoke to the crowd about giving the man a fair chance despite him never doing so for them Clayton grabbed the priest by the wrist as he began to bind them with a rope, tightly with joy. "I hope that hurts, you bastard."

The wyvern rider looked like he was about to respond; that was encouraging, Aeros decided, and the manakete felt much better about his choice...until the rider's pet lunged at him.
"Ah!" The dragon jerked back, barely avoiding a fall by flaring out his wings, his exhausted body not quite ready for yet another conflict. Recovering just enough to drop into a crouch, Aeros frantically tried to figure out what had agitated the wyvern.
Flared out his wings...had he not put them away? It took him a moment to realize that they had slipped out again; obviously he hadn't been paying attention to them earlier. He quickly snapped them against his back, struggling to fit them within the tunic. Fortunately, the villagers seemed to have formed a mob around the idiot priest, so it was unlikely anyone else had noticed.
But the wyvern had noticed, and it certainly didn't look pleased. When its rider suggested that the manakete leave them, he couldn't help but agree; he could very well take on a smaller wyvern like this without transforming, but it would require his full dragon form to minimize collatoral damage.
Minimize collatoral damage in his true form? Aeros had to shift away from the thought to keep from laughing. Minimizing collatoral damage... He had to duck his head to hide a smile now. "Um...I..." He had to think of something, quickly, because laughing at an oncoming wyvern would probably lead to some awkward questions...
His mind settled on the undead that had just ravaged the town.
That was more than enough. Calmed now, the manakete raised his head again, completely serious. He didn't straighten as he answered the wyvern rider. "I think you might be right...but..." Would they know anything? "Have you seen those things before? The ones that...did this?" Aeros gave a half-hearted gesture around them, one that was obviously unneeded. But he had stayed in this town too long, and wherever those horrid things had come from, that was where he needed to be. He was sure of it now. "You," he began, "or she...it was her, wasn't it? One of you two has seen those things before?"

Oh.
Cool.
So the zombie wanted her to cook things - obviously people, she wasn't STUPID so clearly this was a subtle attempt to convince her to turn to cannibalism - and the other person was also a demon who was going to hurt Sol.
Well, that had escalated quickly.
"I - I think that you should leave," she began, her voice awkwardly caught between determined and worried, the sudden rememberance that oh god it wasn't just Hal here and her general discomfort with people contrasted by her desire to protect Hal and Sol, the only people that actually accepted her as... her.
Hesitant for a moment, Elesia took a step further, chiding herself for her weakness - she could stand up to dead people without a thought, but throw in a single actual person and she fell apart again instantly. How pathetic could she be? Even knowing that the other green haired person was just another dumb zombie, the simple fact that he acted suspiciously like an actual person was throwing her off. And Aeros - human, demon, or whatever he was, he smelled so strange and gave off such a weird feeling. It was setting her on edge.
Equally annoyed at herself and the intruders, the wyld mage spun that frustration into determination, into cold fury that ignited her will - and her magic. Prismatic light coalesced around her right arm, the barest flickers of magical discharge abruptly erupting into a raging bonfire of essence, a pillar of polychromatic living flame encasing much of her bare arm and towering two meters above it. "I t-trust Sol, and you smell w-weird. We murderified all the b-bad dead things, so-" Elesia swallowed, trying to reinforce her defiance despite how difficult it was, "-You should... definitely leave. Now."
She wasn't sure if she could explode people that looked that much like humans, but she would do... whatever it took to protect Hal, and if they stuck around much longer, the building Elfire spell was going to go off regardless.

Sol had kept pushing Hal with ease, the small boy was no match for this beast. Sol pulled his head back a little to lunge towards Aeros with a snap trying to crush any part of the boy in his powerful jaws, he would have succeeded if Hal didn't dig his feet in to the ground and started to push him back some. Oh great now Elesia was joining the fight. How did Hal expect to hold back Sol AND Elesia, he barely moved Sol a foot and Elesia was crazy as hell when it came to fire. He wasn't sure what he felt sorry for more, the tree or the zombies that were in her way.
The thought crossed Hal's mind briefly to try to 'punish' Sol by hitting him like an animal. He was ashamed for thinking that even for a moment, hitting Sol would be like hitting Elesia, the two of them are his friends. Maybe if fighting against Sol's will didn't work possibly trying to reason with the beast will. Hal whispered to Sol. "If we're going to attack... ugh... let's do it... hnnnng... as a team..."
It seemed it worked, Sol stopped shoving into Hal for a second. Reaching for his lance he placed one foot in a holder and swung the other over Sol mounting the wyvern. Hal's armor was still laying on the ground, he didn't have time to attempt to suit up in fear of Sol using that as a window to attack, the beast took one step closer to Aeros hissing. "Sorry!" the boy called out to Aeros, he looked at Elesia with a worried look on his face. "I hope you know what you're doing..."

Abel paled. This woman is stran- he stopped as her hand caught on fire. He knew what flames like that felt like. He saw something going on with Aeros in the corner of his eyes. Stay calm Abel...
"Uhhh.... Are you ok Elesia?" Abel asked, trying to stay calm. He had finally found potenial friends and he didn't want to screw this up. What do I do? he thought. This is my chance to help people, but this deranged woman still doesn't trust me. How can I make her a friend? And then it hit him.
"But I want to be a hero too Elesia," Abel said, eyes brightening with inspiration. "Look, I've traveled across Elibe for three years looking for my place in this world to help. I've lost my sister, I've lost friends, and quitting now would only damage their names." He thought about Kasey and Eric. And him.
"They both died young and I don't want anyone else to have to go through that," Abel continued. He gained a fierce expression. "Now why don't you let me stay and help, I'm a good swordsman if it just bothers you I won't say a word. But right now we need to see what all the commotion is about." Abel held her gaze, not even blinking.
Meanwhile, back where Abel left him...
Marco fingered the blade he had given his son. Does he realize what this is? he thought, fingering the crest engraved on the blade. This was his fathers...
