"I just don't like people, that's reason enough to avoid contact" she grumbled glaring at his feet. They were so far away, she would have to stab them once she got the chance, payback at its best. It was the oaf's problem for being so tall.
"Trying? What is this about trying?" she asked "I did not place out enough effort to try." She glared at the Merchant warningly as the man turned for his opinion, the little piggie acting like a good little piggie and staying silent.
"The fat pig has more then enough anyways, why does it matter, he doesn't need all of it to survive so if I by chance had partaken of it why does it matter in the slightest?" She furrowed her brow and stared up at him. "I have not 'stolen' anything."

Sabin was bewildered and annoyed by Mel's new statement. What?? She didn't like people? How was that a good excuse?? It was like Sabin couldn't answer back, yet she didn't make sense! Dammit, she didn't make sense, and that was annoying in an arguement. Man, kids these days, they never made sense, did they?
The next comment was infuriating. Calling the merchant a fat pig, and then asking how stealing matters? Did he really have to explain to this girl what happens?
" Oh yeah? I bet you're not selfish!" Sabin said with a high tone of painful sarcasm, "Except you'll become as rich as this 'pig.' Maybe you'll be caught one day, and you won't like it. After all, its up to you to get yourself arrested." Sabin finished.

Mel smirked watching the expressions play out on Sabin's face so clearly. It was obvious her statement had bewildered him and she used it as an advantage to slip out of his grip rubbing her now sore wrists.
"It is, but if I do I will merely name you my accomplice, I wonder how you like that?" she asked stretching up with a sigh. "Then, it just means you will have to keep a better eye on me to make sure I do not steal a thing, for goodness knows If I steal it would be your head on the stake"
Suddenly she leaped onto his back "So you will have to carry me around, so I can prepare for my days of greedy bliss"

Sabin's eyes widened when he heard of the girl's statement. What? Now he'd be framed too? Dammit... how'd he escape this mess?? It was bad as is that the girl escaped his hold, now clinging on to him like that? Imagine the looks on other people's faces?
"Hey, wealthy friend, I'm buying that nice potion you just showed me, and that nice looking axe too. How much are they?" Sabin asked.
"Th-They're uh.. wait... I forgot. Um, maybe- no! 1000 gold!" the merchant replied, amazed by the change of events. That girl looked so... different now that she was on Sabin's back. It made him feel uneasy... in a weird fashion.
Sabin forked over 1000 gold without a second's thought. Not only was he a simple-minded person at times, but these kind of situations just made him extremely impatient and short of wit. "Ok kid, now drop your games and get off me." Sabin demanded.

Mel watched the transaction quietly, every move and expression of the merchant analyzed. Something had tripped her senses, something was off about it. The axe looked fine, a little polish and it would be a good as new but the potion...
Mel reached down suddenly and snatched up the bottle shaking it gently before uncorking it and staring inside. The liquid from before...it looked different, diluted?
Definitely.
"Hey!" she called to the merchant "Piggy, you seem to have maken a mistake, this is not the potion from before." Rather rudely she held the bottle out to him her face wiped of any expression of malice. "You must have maken a mistake"
The Merchant turned a deep red in the face and started to sputter soon resembling a large embarrassed tomato

Sabin's eyes widened when Mel pointed out that the merchant had given him the wrong bottle. This scum... he was a bare-faced liar! A cheater! Sabin's blood boiled... he was going to punch the man on his face!
"You... cheated me, didn't you, wyvern food?"Sabin asked as he advanced towards the merchant. He was not a happy man.
"But I.. I just-" the merchant mumbled as Sabin choked him and pinned him to the wall.
"Shaddup, scum! And I thought you were a genuine merchant! Guess I was wrong..." Sabin yelled as he glared at the merchant, who was now terrified.

The hair rose rather quickly on the back of Mel's neck at the mention of wyvern food an expression of surprise overtaking her face as her arms grew weak for a moment and she tumbled off his back and onto the hard wooden flooring. Of course she knew that the pirate obviously would not know. Yet still it somehow...
She shook unable to stand up from shock and fear, somehow the usually calm and cynical thief had been sent into such shock from a single phrase. "H-he..." she stuttered unable to speak clearly for a moment her blue eyes wide and slightly wet. "Wyvern food is better..t-than what he is!" she sputtered before getting to her feet and dashing from the small room an leaving in a hurry even forgetting the knives she had come for orginally. The girl did not look to see what fate would befal the merchant she had goaded so well. Somewhere...quiet would be enough to get over the innitial shock, somewhere dark and secluded that she would not be found. Her head was hung as she ran dashing around people madly keeping her face hidden to everything but the floor. Eventually she found a small niche under the stairs and slid in curling up as inconspicuously as possible to catch herself. Tears were for the weak, she had no need for them to recover herself. So she sat in the dark waiting for it all to pass.
(we can chop it here or continue it, just the wyvern comment packs a punch against Mel)
