Sabin had earlier seen a wealthy merchant trying to sell his goods to one of the passengers. He seemed to be trying to sell a ruby necklace, and it had weird patterns on it. Sabin was awed at what the merchant had with him- some ancient llooking rusty knives, some conch shells, some nice earrings and some cool looking weaponry. Sabin wanted to meet up with this guy, and decided to tail him to his room after dinner.
Now he wasn't sure if the merchant would welcome his visit, but he did not want to buy stuff from the merchant when there was a crowd. It would make deals harder to make, and Sabin wanted to buy stuff at a discount. After a nice, full meal alongside Roland and Joel, he tailed the the merchant to his room. He didn't notice that the pointy-earred girl who kept vomiting was following him too.

Mel had been eyeing the merchant's wares for a while now. Like a hawk she had perched herself on her usual barrel eyes locked with the knives. Her arms wrapped her knees and pulled them up to press against her chest, head resting on her shoulder as curious blue eyes followed the merchant about. Those runes, she knew she had seen them before, in a book possibly or some ancient scripture. Though all the lass was certain of was that he immense worth of such blades if polished up so the crescent shaped blades shone like the moon showing off the intricate engravings on the blade. Eyes shining at the opportunity that had presented herself and knowing better than to let it pass by she sprang up and followed after the merchant wondering where his quarters lay so she could begin to construct her plan.
Keeping to the shadows she padded silently one of the other passengers...what was his name? She could not recall though Joel seemed to be rather friendly with him. Slowing her pace she stayed a few steps back not wanting to be discovered by him and lose track of the merchant and her money. Keeping her distance she began to edge along the wall trying to somehow make it around him though she let out a soft cry as the ship rocked rather suddenly sending her into the opposite wall to steady herself and rub at ther new lump rising on her head.

As Sabin followed the merchant he heard a soft cry from behind. He turned around to see who it was...but he saw no one. What could that sound have been? Shrugging it off, Sabin continued tailing the merchant.
They were almost there, and then the merchant opened a door to the right of the corridor. Sabin decided to wait a few minutes before entering.
He heard another sound, and Sabin was now a little worried. Was someone tailing him? If so, why? Did they want the merchant, or something from Sabin himself? He was pretty annoyed by the way things seemed to be turning out.
He opened the door to the merchant's room anyhow. "I'd like to buy some stuff from you, if you're fine with that that is." Sabin said.

Mel held her breath hoping that she would not be discovered from her slight blunder. Damn tub, why did it have to lurch at the worst time. She supposed it could be karma, it was well known to her that he usual activities were not reflected well by society.
Though it seemed that somehow the gods were bent in her favor and by some long stretch the muscled buffoon did not see her. Ah the irony, but she had little time to brood over such matters. Money beckoned her with it hypnotic call.
Each step closer was carefully planned, heel to toe not making the slightest sound as she focused on her task. Walking along the wall careful her shadow did not stary too far out and be noticed.
Of course she would not steal just yet. It was a process, figuring out what may hinder her would be the most important step. The hinges did not look oiled but neither were they rusted, she would have to keep on her toes.
Glancing about she stepped closer than she was usually comfortable with the flickering light making it harder for her to get a clear picture

" You wish to... transact business with me? Personally? Well that's new" the merchant replied, his face lit up with a bright smile. " I'm always welcome to travellers, any time... even if it is the time I'm about to change my clothes." he said, yawning as he removed his coat and shirt, clearly showing his undershirt..err... vest.
Sabin didn't really feel any different about this. After all, he was used to stinky sailors and their sleeping with their undershirts on. Probably someone else would find it unnerving, but not Sabin.
" I saw yo showcasin' a nice lookin' axe the other day. I'd like ter buy that, actually. How much does it cost?" Sabin asked.
" Oh, that? You sure seem like a strong, burly guy. No wonder you'd want to wield it. Hm, why don't you try lifting it once and feel its power?" the merchant asked.
" He, sure, I'll give it a go." Sabin replied, taking the axe as he started to try and swing it. It took a little more strength than usual, but Sabin felt its power in just one swing. He was amazed by this incredible axe. He stopped for a bit, looking at the axe. It looked magnificent and shiny.

Mel stood by the door listening to the transaction start to take place between the two. The axe looked rather expensive to begin with, she wondered how much the man would pay for it. This was the first time she had ever seen an axe of such fine craft, usually she associated them with dirty bandits and pirates and that image never included something so shiny that just screamed its worth in appearance.
Slowly her eyes pried themselves from the axe and off to the portly merchant and his nice and well fed purse. She could see his belly heave as he spoke bouncing up and down almost hypnotically. If he was that well fed she could destroy her usual cycle for once and just take what she wished for, it was all too easy.
She walked in suddenly on the spur of the moment and glanced at the two before pulling close to stare at the merchant's wares her hand moving swiftly to slice his purse without a sound. The axe wielding buffoon would not notice, of course they were all the same with porridge for brains."These are nice..." the lass said softly running her finger over the hilt of a blade.

"Errr... aren't you that pointy eared girl tagging along with Joel? I heard Dee was searching for ye." Sabin told the little thief buntly. This girl was interrupting their conversation, she should know better than to dirupt a transaction.
"So, do you have anything else? While I wanted to try out this axe from the start, I can't help but feel you might have some other valuable stuff out here. Some nice trinkets I could look at? Its not easy these days, life as a mercenary." Sabin sighed. It really was hard when you had no clue what to do next.
"Ah, I've got lots of trinkets you could see. A mercenary, you say? Hehe, I've got stuff like fake gold, fake letters, hair-growing potions, you know what? I shouldn't really be listing the stuff. Why don't you just come and take a look at all of them?" the merchant offered.
"Eh, why not? Those certainly sound useful." Sabin said, shrugging as he waited for the merchant to open his briefcase and take out the valuables.

"My ears are perfectly normal" she replied bluntly brushing her hair out of her eyes as she bent over the various shiny items. Lightly she brushed her fingers over the engravings a soft smile blooming on her lips as he imagined the heaps of gold she could receive convincing people of their worth. The glitter of gold entered her mind at that, how many men could be hired with such riches?
Her mind wandered ignorant of what happened around her "where did you purchase these pieces of trash from?" she asked trying to lower his esteem so she could get them at a lower cost if needed. The lass glanced up expectantly and almost mockingly as she fingered her newly founded gold and slipped a sweet roll that lay on the table into her pocket. Along with paying more they seemed to receive more as well.

Sabin was amused by the girl's blunt, smug reply. Really, did she think she could brush off something like that? Sabin decided to have some little fun.
"Hey little girl, I'm sorry to break it to ye. Last time I checked, people had normal curved ears, not pointy ones. Probably find some nice person to help ye out." Sabin teased her. She looked what, sixteen? Teens always had their pouting going about. She'd probably throw a tantrum right about now. What a scrawny little thing she was.
Sabin frowned at her second comment. Calling these trash, really? "Its not as you think, kid. These stuff sell high on the black market. Really useful for all sorts of stuff." Sabin lectured her.
"Here you go, customer! Why don't you take a sip of this amazing hair growing potion?" the merchant offered.
Sabin paused for a moment before shrugging. As if the merchant would sell poisonous stuff in the first place. This guy seemed trustworthy.
Sabin just took the bottle without a word and had a few drops. Within a couple of minutes, he felt his hair grow longer, now ip to shoulder length.
"This is amazing!" Sabin exclaimed. He was astonished no doubt.

Mel ignored the merchant's stony glare and turned to Sabin slipping a knife down into her boot inconspicuously. Her brow was furrowed as she pulled a hunk of bread out of her bag and took a bite chewing slowly before flicking his forehead with a slight difficulty from the difference in height.
"Shouldn't you be more open minded?" she asked "I dont see people walking around and pointing at you for being you. My ears are pointed and that simply is that, it gives me more room for my brain anyways."
She narrowed her eyes and reached out to take the man's purse as stealthily as she could

"I see. So you say you have 'more room' for your brain, huh? Its demented, I'll tell ye that. I bet its so bad that its only tendency is to steal, ain't it?" Sabin said sarcastically as he saw the girl trying to reach out for his purse. Really, did she think he couldn't see her at all? Like some master thief, huh?
He pulled the girl up by her arms, lifting her off the floor. She was so light and small, it was too easy to lift her. Sabin was really angry now. "Listen up, kid. I'm a patient sailor, but when ye push me, I become serious. Now, I bet I know why you're here. Better dish out all those coins, or else ye gonna get it from me." Sabin warned her.

Mel let out a cry of surprise as she was lifted up moving to try to kick him in the knee...if she could even reach it. Sadly she dangled a good few inches above it and had no way to actually accomplish the task with the height problem. She consented to pouting like a sodden cat glowering at the floorboards slightly frightened to look up at the larger man.
"Dish out what coins?" she asked quietly trying her best to avoid glancing at him "I don't have any on me." The lass squirmed again kicking out futilely again and again wanting to get down her arms starting to hurt from her uncomfortable position

"Don't play dumb with me, lass. Ye know what you did. Hey, look at my face and answer honestly." Sabin taunted her, gripping her arms tighter to force it out. After a few seconds, he loosened his grip, just enough so that the girl still wouldn't escape it.
"Its quite obvioud why ye've come here. Since ye tried to steal my purse, its pretty obvious what ye really want. Bet you thought I didn't notice how awkward ye were behaving, eh?" Sabin continued lecturing her.
"Little girls don't steal. In fact, kids don't steal. Better watch yourself." he warned her.

Mel continued to avoid his eyes trying to squirm out of his arms as quickly as she could trying to scrambled out of the door. Stupid, a greedy thief is always caught, why had she revealed herself to the pirate? She mentally cursed at herself still trying to get away from the older man.
Biting her lip she turned a deep red trying not to listen to the lecture being pounded into her "I didn't steal nothin'" she replied quickly "so let me down oaf."

"Well then, girl, if you didn't steal anything, why are you avoiding eye contact? You haven't done anything else... riiiggghhtt?" Sabin taunted her, trying to force the truth out. He needed to teach the girl a lesson.
"Why not somebody try stealing your money for a change? I'd love to see how you'd react then, hehe. You certainly don't feel guilty about trying to steal from me, huh?" Sabin continued taunting her.
"Hey, what do you think? Do you think she tried stealing some stuff from you?" Sabin turned to the merchant and asked.
"I..I dont know! Ugh!" the merchant replied, shocked after what he had just seen.
Sabin sighed. This guy was not helping, was he? You catch a thief red-handed, you're supposed to be confident and angry. Scold the girl if you have to, really.
