Ooc: I'm just gonna make up a river and hills here if that's okay, if not it can just be him sucking at reading maps.
Ic: Selibas nodded, but raised his left eyebrow at the map. He tried to imagine what the landscape would look like, and think of what he would do. There were some small mountains, maybe large hills, towards the north of Keth, and a river to the west. Selibas imagined himself waiting on the hills for a signal. An arrow in the sky, and shouting a signal back. The force was met outside of the village however, and the Illian soldiers had all kinds of room o run and fight the warriors of Bern. Then Selibas imagined wheeling to the East of the village from the cover of the hills, and pushing the Illians to the river, giving them less of a place to stand and defend.
Selibas nodded once more, not bothering to look at the other town. One battle at a time was probably the best idea for the young Sacaen. He cleared his throat, he might be getting sick he thought, "Okay, makes sense. How exactly should we attack? Or should we wait to scout and all that? And when do we leave?" Selibas laughed, "Sorry, this is my first war council."

Kelvin chuckled at Sel's response. "Relax, Selibas. This meeting was just to gather a general strategy. We won't know how we're planning the attacks until we get closer. From there, we'll scout out the town's defenses. For now, we just need to know the general direction if where we're headed. We leave at sundown. You'll be traveling with me and Porter."
With that, Kelvin turned to the blacksmith. "Porter, I'm going to need you to see to the men. I want you to do any last minute repairs we might need. Also, see if you can scrounge up a few pieces for Selibas. It's dangerous out there and he's gonna need more armor than he has now. That'll be all. Meeting dismissed."
The meeting now over, Kelvin sat down and studied the map closer, looking for anything that could give him an advantage.

Selibas stood with Porter and walked outside with the blacksmith. He didn't really think he needed more armor, but it wouldn't hurt to look. He wanted a new sword, but he doubted the little bit he had would buy him one. The steel on the wall wouldn't be his, which wasn't incredibly grand, but what would you do? Selibas remembered his question about blades before. "I was wondering, are there any swords classified as Bernese in make?" Porter replied, "Well, you have one. That large hunk of Metal on your right side. You see how it has a longer hilt than your others? Well it's not just because of the size of the blade, it's for fighting on top of Wyverns lad. The smith who sold it to you must have thought himself quite the jester. Though you're still alive, so I doubt it's turning out poorly for you."
Selibas smiled and asked if the man had any armor. He got his choice of any of the pieces he could see. He assembled a very Mercenary style of armor, a new breastplate of leather, and steel shoulder pauldrons. He only planned to use the pauldrons for battle, so he slipped breastplate on, then put his green jacket back over it. The weight wasn't too different, it might not slow him down at all even. He walked o the stables to pay for Lightning's housing, and they could leave.

Chelsea took a seat next to Kelvin, wrapping her arms around one of his and resting her head on his shoulder. She knew he was busy looking at his maps, but she didn't care. They were preparing for a fight where they could both die for all they knew, and she wanted to make sure she spent time with him. Shifting slightly, she looked up at him. "Do you really think this is our fight?"

Kelvin looked up from the map and sat back in his chair. Letting out a large sigh, he looked at Chelsea. "I don't know, Chels. I mean, neither of us are from here, so Bern's plight doesn't involve us. But at the same time, these people need me. If I hadn't shown up, this whole town would be dead, and there would be little to no hope for a free Bern. So, it may not be our fight, but I feel compelled to stay and fight. I won't force you to stay, though, especially if you don't want to be here."

Chelsea sighed. "My gut says to leave before either of us get killed. But I know there's no convincing you to leave, and there's no way I'm leaving your side now." She grabbed onto his hand and held it tightly. "We're in this together now."

Selibas tied the small horse to a tree close by the shop. The horse was used to the duo stopping every time there was a tree. He was also used to the small green haired boy jumping around hacking and slashing. Which of course Selibas preceded to do. He remembered a few fights, where his strength hadn't been enough. He needed to get better at actual swordplay. It was strange, considering most men taught in formal sword fighting probably wouldn't survive long in battle. Selibas tried to keep a thrust straight in the new armor. He couldn't lift his arm quite as high, which was a problem, considering he was shorter than the majority of his enemies. He continued raising his arm in a jerking motion, hoping to loosen the plate now occupying his shoulder.
He jumped out of the way of an imaginary attack, and blocked another. He continued blocking and dodging for a while. He probably looked literally insane, but Selibas didn't care too much. He hadn't seen many women around. He eventually began swiping in for killing blows on imaginary openings. He killed for almost twenty minutes, with no imaginary scrapes or bruises.

Kelvin smiled at Chelsea. "That's good to hear. For a moment there I thought you'd be leaving. It's a relief that you aren't. Besides, I'm gonna need somebody to guard my back and keep me safe from archers. I wouldn't want anyone but you doing it. Now, I'm off to get some rest. we're leaving soon and I'll need to be fresh for what's to come." He hugged his fiance tightly and left for the inn.

Kelvin was awoken later that night by Porter, informing him that that time had come for them to leave Linz. Kelvin thanked the blacksmith and set about donning his armor. He wasn't used to the extra weight of some of the pieces, so it took him a fair bit longer to get suited up. He opted to leave his helmet off for now, so he could better address the men. As he stepped out of the inn, he sized up the men that had assembled in the center of the village. The three hundred something men had been arranged into less of an army and more of a hoard, but it would suit them just fine. If they moved this way, the group could easily split up into much smaller groups to keep their numbers hidden.
Kelvin made his way to the front of the group and turned to face the men. "Good evening, men of Linz. I'm going to make this quick, so we can be on our way. The plan is to begin making our way to Larguz to meet up with Nasir and the Wyvern Riders he has hopefully secured by now. On the way, we will liberate two villages and add their strength to ours. Now, gentleman, we ride," Kelvin concluded. As the group prepared to leave, Kelvin sought out his own horse. He armored his horse, then mounted and rode to the front of the company.

Selibas finished his exercising then fell quietly on the tree he'd tied Lightning to. The horse had quickly lost interest in the boys movements, and had fallen asleep. Selibas followed suit. In that dream Selibas was a wolf again, a black wolf standing against a torrent of with snow. He bared his teeth as the precipitation grew heavier and heavier with the force of a gale. The wolf refused to move. He growled as an unknown enemy approached. It was a Dragon. Yet even as he burned, the Black Wolf did not flee. He ran into the flame, and died with stupidity in his mind but bravery in his heart.
Selibas awoke with a start as men walked past him. They were a collection of rag tag soldiers, but there sure were a lot of him. Selibas slowly rose to his feet, and untied Lightning. The little horse wasn't happy to be woken up earlier than usual, and it took five minutes for Selibas to convince the horse to rise. Selibas swung himself back up onto the light brown horse. The two were good as a pair, both half Sacaen and half Bernese, and small. The man at the stable had informed Selibas of the horses heritage and it had pleased him to find out his sarcastic horse was even more similar to him than having that trait.
He listened to the end of Kelvin's small speech. It was good in it''s simplicity, and the men appreciated it. They would need the rousing words that fit well into the bard's poems later. Selibas kicked Lightning to ride next to Kelvin's large horse. He always enjoyed being able to ride without a saddle, it made the rhythm of the horse's hoof beat's more a feeling than a sound.

It was well into the night when the first began to near the village of Keth. The larger group had since split into many smaller groups. Communications and orders were sent mainly through a hawk they had brought from Linz, which made organizing anything chaotic and strenuous. It was a miracle they had arrived as quickly as they had. In order to stay hidden, they had set up camps north of the village, leaving a stretch of hills between them and the village. Scouts had already been dispatched in several directions to help get a bearing on the area and make sure Ilian patrols stayed clear of the camps.
Kelvin had placed his camp in the middle of all of the others to make relaying information quicker. From the moment they had arrived, he had been busily relaying commands and making sure that the army stayed hidden until a proper strategy could be made.

Selibas flexed his stomach, for the fifteent time. Laying on the wet grass was not particularly entertaining. He could barely see anything. The Illian patrol moved past again, and Selibas rose and sprinted once more, this had happened three times. Selibas heard something to his left. An Illian Cavalry scout had found a Bernese scout. The man was foolish, and instead of trying to pass for a farmer or a drunk, he attacked. He died to the soldier, and the man galloped back towards the village. Time to die, Selibas thought. He sprinted towards the horse, and jumped up to reach the man on the saddle. The man let out a small gasp, but Selibas made sure to cover his mouth. It was a long shot, but the horse only wickered as his rider fell to the ground, grappling with a little shadow. The man was on top of Selibas as they fell, and tried to bring his head back to yell, but Selibas moved his hand up with the mans face.
Selibas punched him in the throat. Then flipped the man over onto the ground. He rammed his ebow into the man's nose twice, but then the man punched Selibas with his left hand. It didn't phase Selibas too much, the man clearly favored his Right side, but it made Selibas look to the other arm. It was elevated but twisted in a strange way. Selibas moved to his right while turning his head to look to the hand. The man's knife took of the tip of the Sacaens ear. Selibas struggled not to scream, but batted the knife out of the mans head. He picked it up, but the man bit his hand. Selibas brought it back as his his blood dripped out. He put it back as fast as it came back, stifling a yell, coming out as a strange hiccup like sound. He stabbed the mans throat, and brought it to the right sharply, covering Selibas' nose and mouth in blood. He hated that taste. He got up, lifted the man onto the saddle of his mount, and led the frightened horse toward where the scout lay. He put the dead man over the saddle, then led it once again toward his own camp, the long way around the hills.
Selibas placed the two men down outside of a tent in the camp. He cut a piece of the Bern man's sleeve and wrapped it around his ear. He got a drink of water to wash the taste out of his mouth. He walked over to Kelvin, "A scout died, but our cover is still safe, might not have to much time before the Illians notice a man and horse missing."

Kelvin had been sending out another batch of orders when Selibas returned to the camp. He seemed to have sustained some injuries, but they didn't seem to be slowing the young swordsman at all. Kelvin listened to his report intently. When he had finished, Kelivin frowned. His troops had gotten sloppy, but there was no time to think about that now. What little time they had before had been slashed in half. He'd have to escalate all of their plans to stay ahead of the Ilians.
Kelvin took a few seconds to think before responding. He needed to make immediate action, but he would have to be careful as to not alert the Ilians prematurely. After a moment, he turned to address the young man. "This news is troubling, Selibas. We're going to need to move quickly if we want to keep the element of surprise. I need you to take a small team of scouts and examine the villages defenses. Take no more than three men with you. While you're doing that, I'll be moving the men into position. When I have your intel, we'll devise a quick strategy and strike. Understood?"

Selibas nodded, "Understood." He walked back to where Lightning stood, eying the large Illian horse suspiciously. He stroked the Sacaen horses mane, and slipped Epeeciel out of his belt, and placed it through a loop on a saddle. With some thought, he slipped off Zulfiqar as well, leaving only the iron sword at his hip. He hoped he wouldn't have to use it. He thought it best if he didn't take any cavaliers with him, considering his primary objective was stealth. He saw the Bern man was missing from the spot he'd laid him down on. He'd planned to simply take the man to the medic tent, but then he saw two men, one of them lowering him into a grave the men had dug. Selibas walked up to them, and said quietly, "What was his name?"
The man in the grave climbed out, "Denny." Selibas nodded, "I'm sorry, I saw him die and couldn't do anything. He died bravely, he had an axe in his hand. It would do his memory well if his friends accompanied me to check the defenses again." The other man nodded and opened his mouth, but the burly man who'd already spoken cut him off, "Why would following a Sacaen wolf help his mem'ry?" Selibas spoke again, calmly ignoring the slur, "I killed the man who did this too him, and I plan to see how to kill the men in charge of the man who did this to him." The other man spoke up, "I'll go, so will Arch 'ere." Arch said, "Damn it Vern."
---------- Selibas and the two men walked slowly on the outer perimeter of the town. Ironically Arch had an axe, while Vern was the archer, but he also brought the spade from the grave. They had started out going to the east, and narrowly avoided two patrols. They were going tight against the river, and saw there was about as many soldiers watching the west side of the village as the north. Selibas guessed it was because there were natural berriers protecting that part. The southern side was extremely protected, it was where a lot of the enemy were sleeping, and Selibas caught a glimpse in an open door to the barracks. Once again, Selibas guessed it's reason, as it seemed there was a road leading to the southern part of the village. The east side was moderately defended, more than the North but less than south. There was a sub commander in heavy armor speaking to a few minor officers.
Selibas groaned, prompting a question as to it's reason from Vern. "I hate knights. They're so slow that they'll die anyway, their armor just prolongs the process and tires out us normal fighters." Both men laughed lightly, and they made their way back to camp. Once there Selibas walked up to Kelvin, "The south is the best defended, then the east, with north and west lightly defended. There are a large amount of soldiers, but many were inside, I couldn't get a good count. I was thinkin we could attack the north while sending men to the south, when they move to assist the north we could rout the southern side, there'd still be the East side to worry about."

Kelvin nodded at the Sacaen. His strategy was well thought out, and was probably the best thing they were going to come up with in such a limited time. "It's a good plan, Sel. It's not perfect, but we'll run with it. As for that west flank, I'm sure they'll come running to aid the other troops once they hear the fighting. When they do, we'll meet them head on and crush them. I want you leading the troops in the south. When you hear the fighting, attack. Understood?"
