Name: Rogus "Gus" Nerethi
Class*: Thief
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Grey
Age: 24
Appearance:
An attractive young man of noble features, Rogus is built like a thief. He has a sinewy thin build, and is in tip-top shape for his profession. He takes great care of his short, yet fashionable hair, but still retains a degree of scruffiness by keeping a bit of facial hair. He carries the brand of an out-cast noble on his left shoulder, and a scar or two on his person. His chest is covered in tattoos, though this would be hardly relevant. He is about six feet tall, weighing 185 lbs. While he is thin, he is very muscular.
Clothing/Gear:
Rogus wears the typical cloak of a thief which is red in color and has an attached hood, but hardly allows it to wrap around his person. He prefers to show off his sand-yellow tunic, and matching brown trousers to the shroud of a cloak. He keeps his trousers tied to his waste by multiple, mismatched belts he no-doubt stole and wears as trophies. His tunic's sleeves stop just below his shoulders, hiding his brand. He has a trustworthy lock-pick stowed away in his tunic's inner pockets, and keeps any daggers in his plethora of belts.
Personality:
A thief with a sharp tongue, Rogus is the essence of a free spirit. He loves freedom, feeling entitled to go where he pleases and say what he thinks. He is quite the wise-cracker, rarely ever caught up in a serious moment, as well as a chronic Kleptomaniac, stealing things not worth any value simply for the sake of stealing. While he certainly displays less attractive traits such as over-indulgence with alcohol, and a bit of insanity, Rogus's most notable personality trait is his silver tongue, and charming demeanor. That said, he is nearly always working an angle, and rarely uses his natural charm in genuine circumstances. He is very protective of those he is close to, such as a client or an accomplice, however, that does not mean he is unwavering in his loyalty.
Strengths:
Rogus's main strength as a combatant is the superior speed and agility thieves typically boast. Aside from that, years spent being schooled as a physician by his cleric mother have proved a boon in his line of work, he knows vital weak points in the human body that he can exploit despite lacking excessive strength. His silver-tongue and charming personality can help him in any number of situations, for example; Wooing a young clergy member into giving him access to a church's cache of treasures. He is rather intelligent and quick-witted, able to crack codes, or decipher lock mechanisms with ease. He has a knack for keeping a low profile, and for sneaking around castles or forts late at night.
Weaknesses:
Rogus is hardly one to keep friends for long, often using them to further a goal such as stealing a valuable object, or gathering intelligence for a rival faction, then vanishing. He lacks much physical strength, able to out-run a knight but helpless when trying to fight one straight up. He has very little, to absolutely no empathy for others besides those of the opposite sex, whose members could just as easily fool him as he could fool them. His lack of armor means that after a few hits, he would be in real trouble. Rogus has a tendency to attract unneeded attention to himself when he is drinking, often bragging about his conquests of chests and pockets alike. He is often unable to control emotions such as anger or greed, leading him to un-needed conflicts or trouble. He has a bit of an attachment issue, or rather, becomes bored of people far too easily, and will leave them when he feels the need.
Place of Birth: Lycia
Story:
Born the son of a minor lord in the Lycian League, Rogus grew up around the constant pampering and grooming a lord's son would receive. He was trained to be a knight from an early age, but, to the displeasure of his father, he didn't seem all to interested in it. He detested the affairs of nobles, and longed to be away from the politics and training. As it so happened, soon after reaching the age of sixteen he found the escape he desired so desperately. While on a stroll in the town his father ruled, he met a peasant girl who tried to pick his pocket in the market place. using his greater speed to catch the would-be thief, he discovered the poverty that plagued his town. He cared little for the plight of the people in all honesty, but certainly felt strongly about the peasant girl who began to teach him the ways of a thief. He used these basic skills to sneak out of the castle every night to join his new friend in night-time burgling.
After a year of stealing coin and other valuables with the girl, Aetha, they were both caught taking coins from the Castle's own vault. His father was furious, ordering the execution of the girl, and the exile of his son almost immediately. Rogus refused to allow his friend to be executed, and soon after being branded a traitor to his own house, and exiled from his home, he returned under the guise of a page to break Aetha out.
He was successful, helping her escape the city, and running away from it all together. Soon, however, Rogus found that spending time with his fellow exile grew less and less enjoyable as the weeks went by. As she curled next to him one night by a weak, but comforting fire, he waited until the girl fell asleep before slipping away under the cover of the moonlight, never looking back. Despite this, he knew the girl didn't deserve the abandonment, as a way of apologizing he left what coin he had with her.
For a few months he traveled alone as a hired sword. After a brief stint as a pirate in Badon, he decided to return to the work as a thief, operating out of the seedier parts of Elibe.
Ever since, he has worked as a freelance spy and thief for those who have need his services, mostly in Laus. He has since graduated from petty thievery to more sinister work, sometimes involving the death of certain figures.
