Name: Ilheod Donsen
Class: Wyvern Lord
Hair Color: Light Brown
Eye Color: Heterochromia. A Hazel eye and a red eye.
Age: 38
Appearance: Ilheod is a fairly tall man, at around six feet two inches. His somewhat slim build belittles the power behind his spear thrusts, a build often associated with those consistent with swimming. His hair though long is often tucked back into his helm, however when not wearing it the bangs on the left side are often longer than the right and obscure his red eye. Though he does not outwardly show contempt his dual colored eyes is a trait he loathes as it seems "out of place" for a good soldier to look so unregular. He has small scar's along the right cheek akin to claw marks and is commonly seen with an impassive expression or a more serene one.
Clothes: Without his armor on, his typical garb consists of a swordsman's coat with a single shoulder guard strapped over top. Used to many layers of armor, he typically dresses with a sleeved under shirt to make up for this feeling when not in armor. Having a soldier's mentality of functionality over dress, a lack of concern in flashy clothing evident through the plain brown coat that he wears beneath the shoulder strap as the swordsman coat. Large black boots typically worn regardless of his situation are usually one of the few traits to stick to him whether or not he is wearing his armor. His armor is distinguished by a dark crimson plated cuirasse. Small spikes protrude from the front and backs of the shoulder and a gold trim(primarily around the collar and neck guard) helps it stand out.Though seldom actually wearing it, his helmet is a similarly colored crimson full helm with a slit near each eye and a black threaded plume running down the back. As standing of a ranked officer for military dress and formal occasions when he must wear full uniform a black cloak is worn beneath with the coat falling beneath the chest guard trailing behind. Ilheod has kept his formal attire bundled away, as a form of memento for what was.
Born In: Elibe: Bern
Story:
Ilheod is a solider. Do what needs to be done, and keep the opinions in his head. He has a sense of honor. He will not kill women or Children. If he had female opponents he would often simply disarm them and incapacitate them. The only constant companion in his life is his Wyvern Astraeus. A good commander, but often speaking only when necessary. His Wyvern is also the only being he's content to "confide" in.
Ilheod's family was many generations into the service of Bern. Every father, and his brothers had joined the ranks of the Wyvern Riders. Ilheod was no different. His two older brothers joined shortly before him, with four of his six younger brothers joining a year and a year and a half after himself. His third youngest brother was a "black sheep" of the family to become a mercenary. Fresh into the recruits of the 38th wyvern unit, Ilheod found that his spear thrusts were often inadequate compared to the others. Many times he was forced to care for the wyverns as punishment for failing training exercises.
It was in this time that his earliest bonding with Astraeus would begin. Many times he would explain his frustrations to the creature that seemingly listened. A comforting presence in the face of the many taunts from his older brothers. However Ilheod Persisted. His goal was to achieve the rank of Wyvern General. Intially atleast. Though his older brothers were remarkable flyers, and deadly with their skills in combat they were assigned to patrol routs along the eastern boarder of the Bern mountains. Often living in the stronghold's stationed within the mountains they spent much less time closer to the south western village their family grew up.
Ilheod however had started to show a remarkable talent in how quickly he could master skills once he had started building momentum. His progress was exponential. Assigned initially to the western patrols after earning his ranks among the wyvern riders he found a solid camaraderie in his fellow unit members. The self-titled "Night wings" for their nocturnal patrol routes, was like a second family to Ilheod. Early into his twenties, only two years into his assignment to the Night Wings the unit battled fiercely with a band of mercenaries hired to sack one of the smaller villages near the mountains around Bern's western face.
Well trained and equipped, the battle saw more than one causality for the unit at the expense of the eradication of the mercenaries. One of them was the unit captain. When reports were all turned in, Ilheod had been assigned the immediate replacement. Though enjoying his new promotion, it would not be the last as many small skirmishes started to crop up between bands of mercenary forces hired by what Ilheod felt would have had to have been a noble to supply such wages. His unit was often sent on additional patrols, however with a growing danger to the western side he was assigned two smaller units to manage to supplement the new patrols. These smaller units would become full fledged ones within a year's time. Now serving at the rank of Knight-Commander with five units under his command Ilheod's family noticed their son's transition. What had once been a lad finding difficulty in merely thrusting a spear had turned into a skilled soldier that was willing to throw himself into the tide for his country's honor.
A final squad would be added to his ranks. A unit lead by a prodigy with greater talent than Ilheod's own. His second youngest brother, Ilberd. Though Ilheod had become comfortable with his station, and the faces of his men his younger brother held a fire in his eyes that was unquenchable. He had wanted to aspire to the top, to become the greatest of Wyvern generals. Though he looked down on his older brother's casting aside of similar dreams, none would argue the reason that weighed heaviest. His men. Through traditional practice befitting his rank, Ilheod started studying topics of military tactics outside instinct and basic education. War came to bern. Not from outside, but within. The civil war that sundered Bern into a weakened state. Combat broke out all along the country's land, and with the nation in disarray and chaos Ilheod had to make a decision. No order's were being received, no news of other fronts or campaigns. Protocol would have determined finding his superior's to determine their orders. With bandit's running along the country side so rampantly however it would have all but condemned the villages around his routes. His conscious could not allow him to forsake them on the prospect of orders, and in the only example of his military history he broke protocol to take on the defense of the villages. The Night Wings had taken on a second name. The Guardians. A term almost exclusively used by villages on the western side, but one that carried enough weight to eventually hold off the notion by bandit's of attacking save for all of the boldest.
It had come at a cost however. Bern as he knew it, would fall. In name it lived but to him nothing else. Years would be spent simply trying to keep those he looked after safe. A nation once so mighty would become an extension of another in glorified payment.
News had been stirring though. Word that a single bandit was uniting the local brigands into a single force. Ilheod received disturbing news of this, and reports of a large almost battalion sized horde of brigands moving to raid one of the villages under his watch. Leading his units to assist the village, he arrived to find the gates battered and broken with the thieving monsters already over-running the village. Bringing the full fury of the Bern Kingdom down upon them from above the rider's moved to cleanse the village in what would be the second most brutal combat in Ilheod's history as a Wyvern Rider. Though he held less casualties in the second fight, the uncanny vigor with which the bandit's fought disturbed him. It was through the revaluations of the one guiding the raiders he learned of their leader's name. A man who was described to command all when he spoke. Ilheod's units routed the brigands, but questions remained. Bern was again met with war. A war to free it's self from outside influence. Though his loyalty to his nation pleaded internally for him to pursue, Ilheod had also developed a loyalty to those he protected. Vowing to assist in what ways he could for Bern's sake, he took with him his unit, and a second while leaving his brother and the other unit to defend the small villages under their watch. Many forces were at work unseen. His eyes were keen. He was used to fighting in the dark, and seeing through darkness to find his target. If this was what he had to do to ensure his land's safty then he would endeavor to find it at any cost..and bring low those who would hurt the people of Bern.
