Appearance
Mila is 5’5. She has green hair and eyes. She is quite pretty and is fit. Her hair when loose likes to curl up into wavy locks. It reaches about half way down her back. She usually keeps her hair tied up in a high ponytail, and has to clips in the form of an X to keep her bangs in place. Sometimes she has a clip in the shape of a frog. Mila has a little known brand on the back of her neck that identical to her brother’s. It is unknown if the twins were born with the brand or if they were branded shortly after birth. Both Mila and Duma like to think of the brand as a blessing from the spirits.
She has a nice bust which she tries to hide underneath a brown leather vest. She has black leggings which accentuate her rear. She has soft colored leather boots that reach up to her calf. Underneath the vest she has a short sleeved green tunic. The sleeves of the tunic barely cover her shoulder and appear ruffled. The tunic is held up onto her body by two other straps.
When out traveling Mila wears a rather large cloak which hides her frame entirely. The hooded cloak is dark green and sleeved. She wears black fingerless gloves. She wears small grey bandit like mask. In cold weather she wears a long sleeved wool sweater underneath the cloak. Her satchel bag holds medicine, a cruel doll in the image of her brother, her journal, makeup, mirror, food, pencils, parchment, and charcoal. She carries on her waist a small knife used to sharpen her pencils and cut fruit. It serves no combat purposes.
In her large sleeves she has pockets sewn in which are large enough to hold her fire tome. The other sleeve usually holds her coin purse, and pencils.
Personality
Mila is a bold and outspoken young woman. She enjoys reading and talking. She’s prone to acting without fully thinking when in a panic. She’s a kind hearted girl who doesn’t like seeing other’s being picked on. She isn’t afraid of getting dirty. She is often described as a tomboy. A vegetarian by choice however if things are desperate she will eat meat.
She’s an extremely intelligent young woman and has a vast knowledge on a variety of subjects. She is a proficient writer and excellent artist. She also has an extensive knowledge of monsters. Mila is bi.
History
Mila is Duma’s twin sister. She and her brother were adopted and raised by a pair of mercenaries. According to them they were on a job in Lycia and stumbled upon the twins in the ruins of a bandit encampment. The twins were found dirty but miraculously unharmed. Unable to find a corpse that matched the twins appearances they took in the twins. Their mother was fond of old fables and decided to name the twins after two old gods. The twins were loved dearly by their parents.
The twins spent a large chunk of their early lives traveling the land with their parents. The family mostly stuck to the area in between Sacae and Eutria. The twins learned many things including how to read, write, sew, cook, climb, and swim. They were taught the ways of the mercenary life and of courtesy. The mercenary guild had a base of operations in Taras. The family had a small home in Taras which Mila barely remembers. When she was about 7 she remembered pulling out a book from one of father’s small collection and began reading. The spirits seemed to respond to her words and she managed to cast her first spell. (albeit improperly ad nearly set herself on fire). Her father saw this and decided to train her in the way of anima magic. It was around the same time Duma began training in the way of the sword. The twins spent about a year learning how to hone their craft. They would occasionally do small jobs under their parents supervision. The guild would also give them tiny jobs to do in order to further train them. After an incident involving a fire spell gone wrong, the family needed to move out of Taras. They decided to enroll Mila in Deftila’s magical academy, but they were unable to pull the needed funds for such a prestigious academy. Instead they were regulated to one of the smaller branch schools in Aquiela. The family moved to the city in order to be close to their daughter while she studied.
City life did not sit well with the family. They did not belive in the prophet or his religion. However the family did well to keep themselves out of trouble. Mila was taught to keep quiet, avoid trouble, and use extreme caution. Mila’s life in the academy was difficult. She was beaten by the staff when she spoke up. The other students distance themselves from her because she was an outsider. She missed the freedom of the guild and hated academy life. But her parents went through great lengths to enroll her she would simply have to tough it out. She kept her sanity by writing letters to her brother and parents. She met an old sage who took her under her wing. Old man Sam as he was called was a kind man who recognized the talent Mila had. She showed great excellence in her studies. She gained top marks in almost all areas. She was given leave to see her family on holy days and festivals. Mila and Duma made a vow with one another once they “graduated” they would leave Eutria and mercenary out on their own.
At 16 Mila and Duma graduated and the family left Eutria. They returned to Taras. The twins adventured around doing mercenary work for the guild. At 18 the twins had lost their parents. They died from infected battle wounds. Mila and Duma managed to reach them in their final moments and give their goodbyes. Mila continued to hone her skill with magic and documented their adventures in a journal. She would occasionally write back to old man Sam. When Mila was about 20 she received a letter from old man Sam asking if she could fulfil a request on his behalf. Mila was to investigate the ruins found in the Nabatan Desert. She and a group of about 15 other mages were to go investigate and report back any information they might find.
Not wanting to disappoint old man Sam especially since he was so kind to her during her time in the academy she accepted his task. Duma followed her to Nabata. Her brother promoted himself to a sword master. But she opted on remaining a mage.
Nabata proved to be a disaster. The ruins collapsed and Mila was trapped inside. She managed to use her survival instincts and mercenary training to find a way out of the ruins via an underground tunnel. The event of the cave in left her traumatized. She has a fear of caves and deep dark places.
She escaped the tunnel and spent two days walking in blind stupor until a family of nomads stumbled upon her. They gradually bright her to her senses and led her on the path back to Eutria. She was unable to find her brother. In Eutria she reunited with Old Man Sam. She spent months recuperating from the incident and answering several questions from the inquisition. She lost her passion for study. Tensions between the church and the academy started to mount so Mila decided it best if she left Eutria. She returned to Taras to find her brother through the guild but to no avail. She would send letters to the guild in hopes of one day catching her brother.
During her travels away from Eutria she learned a great deal about the world. She learned of monsters and decided to research them. Monsters were fascinating. The rekindled her passion for study. She would write careful letters to both Old Man Sam and the guild, detailing her research and findings. Perhaps this information could be used to save a life. Mila has been free lancing as a mercenary mage for the past 3 years. Taking up any job she could find to help earn a living, hoping that she can one day reunite with her brother.
As of Dancing Dead Mila has Joined the guild the Verdant Cross. Mila has promoted to Sage. And is slowly learning to control, conquer her fears, the powers of the earth with the Gaea tome. Mila is a member of the LCO.
