Name: Curtana
Magic: Light
Tome: Shine
Physical Description: Curtana is chipped along its edges and rife with rust, being at least one thousand years old. When in use, its silverish blade turns golden.
Personality: The spirit of the blade is that of the Bernese hero Huringren, because of this, the blade is noble and will attempt to draw its wielder into danger if it believes the innocent are threatened. Curtana does not believe in showing fear, so much so that if its holder feels fear, it will become an ancient blade with no magic once again. Despite its connection to the light, Curtana is not at all connected to Eliminism, reacting more to the hand of a pagan.
The single most important aspect of Curtana is Pride. Not arrogance, or being cocky, only pride. To wield Curtana one must believe they are the man or woman capable of wielding it, and that they are destined for great things. The more a wielder has to be proud of, the more power the blade will lend them.
Origin: Huringren was the youngest son of a powerful lord in the time before the scouring. He was close to a group of young men who were also lords, one of them was the boy who would become Hartmut. When the war against the dragons began, Hartmut would soon become a general, and eventually the leader of all the human forces. While still fighting in their homeland, Hartmut was certainly the commander looked to by all. He made Huringren one of his lieutenants, a position coveted by many, but given to few. In the war, Huringren protected all that he could with his sacred blade Curtana, fighting alongside his lord and killing many dragons.
When the war was almost won, Huringren grew sick. One day, he met a passing mage, and asked if the man could heal him of his illness. The mage told him that he could not heal him, but there was a way he could be almost immortal. Huringren agreed, hoping he would live forever. The mage cast a powerful spell on the man, and Huringren felt no different. However, in one great battle against many foes, Huringren attempted to take a hilltop against the dragons where many other brave human warriors had failed. He succeeded, but upon reaching the top he succumbed to his wounds. As he died, he felt himself slipping away, but not to his death. He was suddenly a part of his blade. His sword was placed in a museum by his sons, and not taken from its sheath until one day a young half Bernese boy came and pulled it.
