Name:Ravvus Wiseau
Class:Mage
Age:20
Born in:Western Isles
Appearance:Appearance: Though born in the Western Isles, Ravvus has spent more of his life in Etruria and as such is light-skinned. He wears an orange cloak, something he personally thinks looks nice, and brown leather armor underneath. His hair is blonde, eyes are blue, and can be described as a handsome young man. He wears a belt over his orange cloak to keep it secure in place, ensuring that his leather armor remains hidden. However, he mostly wears it because he thinks it looks cool. There is a scar located on his right cheek. He doesn't remember where he got this, but does not find it surprising given his ruffian nature.
Personality:Personality: Charming, manipulative, and greedy. Confident, but not cocky, Ravvus prefers to analyze situations before assessing them. He knows his way around a fight and a conversation. The older he became the more he learned that people do not merely fight with their fists, but their words as well. He holds the things he hunts to have the greatest value in this world. This can include people, artifacts, animals, locations, etc. If he wants something, he will do his best to get it.
Story:Story: Ravvus was born in the Western Isles to a small mining family that yearned for more. While his parents had great aspirations, Ravvus, as a child, found himself largely content. Easily amused, despite his harsh surroundings, Ravvus took pleasure in picking fights with the children of the other miners and observing the skirmishes between roaming brigands and the Etrurian border guard. While not a skilled or exceptionally strong fighter, he had a handy piece of advice given to him by his father. “Ravvus, if the other minlings (Minling: A colloquial term used in the Western Isles to refer to the children of miners.) ever pick a fight with you, win every battle with through the first one. If you ever have to fight someone, DO NOT beat them, DESTROY them.” Keep in mind that Ravvus' father was an ex-bandit and had only given up his criminal lifestyle because the law had caught up with him. He wasn't the best role model, but in the Western Isles the advantage of the strong tended to constitute justice. His advice taught Ravvus how to fight dirty and with it Ravvus quickly taught the other children to respect him. Sneaky and brutal, the only beatings Ravvus received were from older, bigger kids and the occasional right hook from his dad. With a well-established reputation, Ravvus lead the other children on adventures while their parents worked. They'd sneak into arenas and watch people fight to the death, they'd hide near the mine entrances to try and find precious gems, they'd even adventure to the nearby ports on occasion to watch the crafts of pirates and merchants. Despite his love of fighting, Ravvus found himself most content when he'd sneak off to the ports. There was something about the open seas, or the concept of adventure and mystery, which enthralled him more than anything else. It was at this point in his life that Ravvus discovered two things. 1. He liked 'destroying' other people and 2. He loved adventure.
Ravvus' family consisted of an ex-criminal, his father, a tough, but loving, mother, and sweet and caring younger sister, Reina. His sister was the opposite of him. Quiet, caring, and bookish, she depended on Ravvus to protect her.
Ravvus parents were a pair of miners who labored intensely in the Etruria owned mines. But his parents were different from the other miners. They were crafty. They knew how to hide things. Perhaps most importantly, they knew how to lie. Over the years they spent slaving in the mines they... accumulated a small piggy bank. A 'piggy bank' they kept hidden from the occasional roaming bandits as well as the town governor, an Etrurian bishop. In time, the family 'saved' enough of their 'wages' in their 'piggy bank' to flee the Western Isles. With the help of a female pirate they were smuggled to a more culturally enlightened shore: Etruria.
Ravvus himself had mixed feelings about leaving the Western Isles. On the one hand, Etruria was new land to explore. He had more freedom to explore seeing as the country had a more effective police force. Sometimes he would leave the house and roam for two hours. Sometimes he would explore for two days. While the latter earned him the wrath of his father, he was happy to have this newfound freedom. On the other hand, the Etrurian's were less accepting of brawls in the street. The strange kids Ravvus encountered were apprehensive to the idea of fighting. It was like there was nothing to prove. The boys and girls gave up before Ravvus threw his first punch. This, of course, did not stop Ravvus from throwing the first punch, but he found the experience less satisfying. Eventually, his troublemaking ways landed his family in hot water. The Wiseau family became so ostracized and alienated from the other families that they were forced with a choice: Get their son under control or leave town. So, Ravvus' parents did the only reasonable thing a pair of ex-scoundrels could do and locked their son in the house, forbidding him from interacting with anyone outside of the family. With both his love of fighting and adventure robbed from him, Ravvus had to find other ways to keep himself entertained. It was at this point in his life Ravvus discovered his love for books. His sister, who had actually taken advantage of the Etrurian educational system, and was going to school, stored various tomes and texts in her room. She let him borrow her assignments and texts and he in turn would read them. Ravvus was fascinated. The adventure he desired could also be found in books, in education. In spite of some initial friction, Ravvus started learning and attending school.
With regard to fighting, Ravvus had to use dirty tricks and low-blows to gain the upper hand. But in school, Ravvus was a natural. He loved learning, loved exploring. He consumed and stored each piece of new information he wasn't presented with. He received excellent grades, but particularly excelled in history. In time, he discovered anima magic and his talent for it. If Ravvus was ok at fighting and a natural in schooling, then he was a prodigy in magic. Anima magic proved to be a perfect blend of two other schools which had come to dictate Ravvus' way of life. It was a combination of knowledge and faith, temperance and zeal. Ravvus had the faith that he could learn any material, or win any battle, so long as he had a plan, so long as he knew what he was doing. Between the years of 12 and 16 he studied as a pupil under the head of his school, an accomplished sage.
It was not enough, however. By the age of 16, Ravvus found himself bored with it all. School was monotonous and dull. Books were interesting, but he wanted to experience the world first hand. He needed more. He needed real world experience fighting with magic. He still had the urge to crush other people, a burning desire to prove his strength. Rather than continue schooling at an anima college, Ravvus decided that it was time to explore the world again. Only this time, he would finally leave the borders of his hometown. He left with little, carrying with him his bare essentials, some stolen gold, and, again stolen, Reina's favorite book: “The Tune of Elfire and Fimbulvetr: An introduction to Anima Magic.” Despite her bookish nature, Ravvus' sister had only ever been able to learn the basics of anima magic. The introductory manual was her favorite book because it represented her ability to overcome one of her toughest challenges. In turn, Ravvus appreciated the book because of the emotional value it had for his sister. He figured it would make a nice memento.
In the coming years, Ravvus would resume his old ways, picking fights with people he wanted to crush, dominating others through excessive force, and discovering new sights to satisfy his curiosity. Initially he took on an apprenticeship at the Etrurian Pathfinder's guild. His raw talent in anima was enough to gain him membership. With them he would partake in adventures back to his homeland of the Western Isles, where he would recover rare jewels. He would visit the mighty mountains of Bern to abscond with precious Wyvern eggs. He braved the colds of Ilia to hunt dangerous criminals and game. He even found work in the Dread Isles where few men dared to traverse. Though still a young adventurer he has discarded any concept of nationalism. He does not consider himself a citizen of one country, but of many. During his travels in Ilia he joined the Pale Compass guild and, while he still holds no great title in either of the guilds he has joined, he has proven himself a capable adventurer.
Most recently his adventures have brought him to Nabata in search of dragons.
