Where to begin...
It had been a long journey, from when he had left his home as a young man.
He'd overcome many struggles.
Won many battles.
Defeated and destroyed many obstacles standing in his path.
But yet... He was no closer to creating a more equitable world than when he'd begun. Simple thievery was not enough. People led by example, and the bad examples were corrupting the good. He would have to cull those not deserving of life, separate the wheat from the chaff.
He would be truly powerful then. His message would be heard, and many would believe that which the mysterious Ryuzaki proclaimed.
To do so... He would have to kill ruthlessly, eliminating targets as one plucks grapes from a vine. Emotionless, save the battle-rush. Thoughtless, except for the mission. He would be silent, and deadly. A poison with no cure.
Holding the sparkling blade Gemini up to his eyes, Ryuzaki smiled. He would begin his transformation. Adopt a new attire, and a new attitude. Bring forth his skillset to the furnace and forge it into stronger and more impenetrable defense. He would hone his mind, sharpen his senses, and remove the sensation of pain. He would become ethereal... Striking and disappearing.
Soon, the world would know his name. And all would fear him.
But onto business.
He'd acquired a nondescript house in Santaruz, as a replacement for his old guard tower. He now stood within, wearing no weapons or equipment. Even his cloak was sitting over a chair. In the long weapons-cupboard stood many hooks and shelves, upon which his arm-brace, his knives, his twin sickles, and the rest of his gear were arrayed. Placing Gemini upon its rack, the thief stretched. Soon...

Walking over to a cupboard, the thief opened it and withdrew a new cloak, custom tailored with more pouches and pockets and sleeves and slots than imaginable. There were dagger sleeves, loops for holding coils of climbing wire, cheese wire, or hostage rope, and pouches for medicines and poisons. The garment had one main secret - between the two layers of high-quality cloth was a thin chainmail shirt, which would afford moderate protection against lighter blows. It was no hero's armor, but it gave him an edge in tight situations.
The toolbelt that matched it was of fine leather, with an X-bandolier for holding knives and his sickles, and two scabbards, allowing him to hold Gemini and another sword, if he ever found one... The belt had many more spaces and utilities, as well, and the thief considered them as well worth the money he'd spent.
Slipping out of his old gear and donning his new setup, Ryu accustomed himself to the feel of the heavier cloak and the new, tighter belt. It was a pleasant feeling. It fit him well. Sliding Gemini in its sheath, and equipping himself, the thief stepped outside, locking his door, and headed off to the prestigious nightclub at which a certain magistrate frequented.
He, a barbarous and frivolous man, who squandered his wealth on wine and women, was Ryu's first target. He would be a perfect example of the Equalizer's skill. Ryuzaki would level the world... One step at a time. Mountains would fall and valleys would rise before the might of the Equalizer.

The germinating assassin jogged through the alleys, his clothes hissing almost inaudibly as he rushed through the streets like the wind through the bare winter branches. Soon, the faces he passed, few in number, faded entirely and he found himself alone in his mind, analyzing the task ahead. He would make a statement by slitting the man's throat... But he would have to be quick, quiet, and undetectable. A tall order.
The door came into view, the large dark-skinned bouncer standing menacingly in front like a gargoyle. How best to enter? It seemed to simple for Ryu, and so the thief chuckled before reaching into the folds of his cloak and withdrawing a wickedly shaped throwing knife. Instantly, he shook his head vehemently, cursed his own stupidity under his breath, and grabbed his money pouch out. The magistrate would certainly have some trinkets he could steal, or else he'd steal for a while. He didn't need money.
Ryu approached the door, and as the man moved to block it, tossed the bag of coin and slipped inside, turning instantly and pressing himself to the wall, in case the bouncer reacted. Nothing. It seemed the bribe was sufficient. Good. Walking in, Ryu made sure his hood was up and then began to search. Soon, he found his mark... A morbidly large man, in front of a stage of exotic dancers. How lewdly public... A killing here would serve no purpose.
What to do?
But it seemed his question was already answered... The magistrate had selected a dancer, beckoning with one sausage-esque finger, and had disappeared with her down one of the corridors leading to the 'private audience' rooms.
Now!

Following quietly, Ryuzaki managed to catch a glimpse of the two entering a room before the door slammed, the bolt clicked, and the hallway was still once more. This was not good; the assassin was out of place here and vulnerable. He needed to gain entry - but how? Looking around, Ryuzaki was able to glean but one weakness - the ceilings. They were made of wood planks, and had metal grates interspersed to allow access to the hanging lanterns. Thus... If he could get above the room...
There was a stairwell at the end of the hall. Ryu approached it, drew his lockpick out, and deftly opened the door. Swinging it gently shut behind him, he bounded up the stairs and found himself... In the best-hidden storeroom he'd ever seen. There were chests galore, and upon opening them, the assassin found himself face-to-face with a king's ransom in female garments. It appeared that the club kept their outfits up here, along with a supply of lamp-oil and some cheeses and wines.
After making a mental note to come steal some cheese, Ryu retraced his steps on the ceiling, padding softly until he located a grate through which he could hear some muffled protestations. On his hands and knees now, Ryu peered through the grate and saw the vile magistrate forcing his way upon the dancer, who was protesting as best she could and trying to guard what remained of her honor.
Removing the grate, Ryu steeled himself and dropped silently down. Straightening up on the lavishly carpeted floor, he strode forward, grabbed the man, and yanked, pulling him off of both dancer and couch and sending him tumbling to the carpet. Before the magistrate could recollect himself, there was a flash of glinting steel and the beige carpet began to flush red like a blushing maiden.
Without another word or a glance at the dancer, Ryu opened the magistrate's coat, removed his purse and his golden chain, and unlocked the door, strolling out and closing it softly behind him.

As the assassin neared the door, he heard a scream and looked over his shoulder to see the dancer standing, bare and defiled, in a frenzy born from the shock and trauma she'd experienced.
"That man! In the cloak! He... The magistrate... The magistrate was dishonoring me... And that man... He KILLED the magistrate!"[/font]
It was as if a bomb had went off. Instantly, a din of voices exploded out, and hands shot like shrapnel for the slippery Ryuzaki as the man moved not towards the door but towards the stage, standing upon it in the midst of the paralyzed dancers and in front of the huge, unlit fireplace.
"It is true. I killed the magistrate. He deserved his fate, and now his soul will rest in Hell where it belongs. You should thank me... I have cleaned the land, purging but one of the weeds who choke out the good fruit in this fertile garden. But if you will not thank me, then at least know this... He who has killed the magistrate is none other than the great assassin Shinryu! Remember my name, you enslaved, you overburdened. I am Shinryu, and I will construct you a new world!"
The assassin stepped backwards, ducking down, and then sprang up, using the small chimney as a chute to freedom. When he arrived on the roof, sooty but uninjured, Ryuzaki smiled and looked out over the sea of city surrounding him.
"Soon... My world will be born. A world of equality, of justice, and of opportunity."
The assassin leaped to the next building, standing and raising Gemini to the moonlight.
"I will change the world!"
