Name:Donovan
Class:Mercenary
Age:19
Born in:Lycia
Height: Somewhere between 6'2" and 6'3"
Weight: 200 lbs
Appearance:Donovan is a tall and imposing figure. Over 6 feet, with slender, cut muscle that's less for strength and more for appearance. While clearly in good shape, he isn't nearly as well built as most other fighters his age. His wild hair is completely untamed and - as his mother always said - it has a mind of its own. It's black, though already it has some rare streaks of silver. His most striking feature is his bright green eyes, which tend to show his true nature to those clever enough to look. Although he looks like a skilled fighter, he is exceptionally untrained. All his weapon training coming from stage combat and the few times his troupe had been attacked on the road. (For Updates on combat experience and appearances, check Don's Notes)
Donovan dresses rather simply, wearing a dark green tunic, simple canvas pants. He wears a long, tattered cloak for the road, that is nearly grey from years of travel, being a hand-me-down from his father. With sturdy brown boots, a small buckler, and brown leather bracers, Donovan looks, quite subtly, like a force to be reckoned with.
Personality: Donovan is a born performer and liar, an actor to his bones. Extremely bright and fully aware of that fact, he tends to learn very quickly. Donovan has a love of playing tricks on those that he travels with. He is generally kindhearted and passionate, though in this increasingly dangerous world he figures he’ll have a better chance of survival pretending to be a dark and aloof mercenary, especially considering his lack of experience. Donovan specializes in adapting to his situation, preferring to come up with clever strategy rather than attacking his problems head on. He knows when he’s over his head and firmly believes that running is a superior alternative to dying.
Story:Donovan grew up on stage; his family being traveling performers. His mother a singer and dancer, his father a bard, and Donovan had a knack for lying that saw him gravitating toward the theatrical arts. With a small band of about 20 troupers, they traveled from city to city in Lycia and Bern. They were quite successful, with his father and mother in particular being well respected and beloved entertainers. Donovan himself was beginning to build up a strong reputation as a skilled young actor until the fighting and revolts proved too much for them to continue on the road.
At the hands of refugees turned highwaymen, his father and over half of his troupe were slain trying to protect their goods, as Donovan was rounding his 16th birthday. He held himself responsible for his fathers death, fully believing that if he had spent more time learning to fight than perform, his dad would still be alive. His mother decided that life on the road was becoming too dangerous to risk and opened a small inn in Pherae, where the two struggled to remain afloat. During the the next years, Donovan spent most of his free time practicing with a blade, swearing to make sure his family is protected. After staying with his mother for 3 years at the inn, their financial situation became desperate enough that Donovan decides to leave and get work as an mercenary, despite his mother’s protests. While untried in real combat, Donovan plays the role of a hard and proven sword for hire with a casual grace, despite his intense fear of the world he is entering into.
