Name:Jude Hives
Class:Thief -> Rogue
Age:19
Born in:Nabata
Appearance:Jude is tall and lean, with healthily defined muscles for someone his age. His skin is a little darker than his sister's because of his years out in the sun, sailing with his father. His hair is a lighter lavender color for the same reason, though his sister's hair is a bit darker. He has wild, red eyes and always wears a mischievous smile.
Jude wears a tight fitting navy vest with one long sleeve on his right and sleeveless on his left. He has an tan colored scarf around his neck that goes a bit down his back. His vest cuts off at his midriff, showing his belly button-- he has always preferred wearing little, since when he sails he gets hot, and his clothes always need to be breathable. He has a lighter blue waist cloak that reaches down to his shins, brown pants, and grey leather boots.
Personality:At his core, Jude is impulsive and fun loving, but shortsighted and reckless. He loves games and jokes and adventures, but he lacks caution, diligence, or foresight— things that would often keep him out of trouble. His youth shines in him, making him a natural leader, but often not a positive one. He can be a heavy drinker, when he finds alcohol. He is idealistic, naive at times, but full of life, energy, and enthusiasm. He can be pretty immature— often feeling that if things don’t go his way, things aren’t going right at all. He is poor at considering how others feel, but he has a strong sense of loyalty and friendship that carry him into long-lasting, though sometimes detrimental, friendships. He is brash to a fault, often lacking the ability to speak politely when he needs to, to be considerate when he needs to, et cetera. He is also extraordinarily prone to angry outbursts over just about anything.
He is, though, very talented, and modest about those talents. He has an affinity for sailing, smithing, and playing piano to name a few talents. His father taught him how to sail both large and small crafts, and while they were on runs together, he became proficient at the art, and when he travels coasts, he most often prefers to sail, as opposed to horseback or traveling on foot. He has been playing piano for years, and when he was young, played for his sister. His metal-working comes in handy when he needs tools, though he isn’t so proficient that he can make master blades, and often finds himself needing direction at the forge— though he can do beginner level things with no problem. Knives, cheap swords, and all the like come naturally to him. He is a naturally talented warrior and sailor, and has dreams of becoming a pirate and sailing the seas with his little sister.
Story:Jude was raised in a small village on the coast of Nabata, right on the sea, where his father traded salt for a living, and his mother smithed weapons and tools for the surrounding villages. He lived a fun, easy life that consisted of swimming, learning to sail with his father, and occasionally learning how to forge with his mother.
No memories stand out more, however, than those with his sister, Bee. When Jude was four, his parents gave birth to a little girl that would soon because his very best friend, closest confidant, and adventuring partner. As children, Jude and Bee romped and ran together, causing trouble and enjoying the life away from the city. Jude would sometimes take Bee sailing on a small craft with a single sail that his father built for him.
The two grew very close... But when Jude was 11, the village was sacked by bandits. They burned and destroyed everything, killing many of the adults, including their mother. Jude's father was away on a trip, but Jude was helpless, a small child that stood no chance against the bandit uprising. They kidnapped his sister and were gone as soon as they had come.
Jude spent the following years resenting himself for being unable to save his sister. His personalty changed; it grew darker, more self-centered, and he became too mischievous-- often venting his frustration by stealing from his father, from the village shops, and occasionally from other people's homes.
His father had come back shortly, and Jude stayed with him for some time... But in his heart, he was bitter towards the man for having been gone during the raid, and for seeming outwardly to be relatively unaffected by the loss of his daughter and wife. Jude tried to spend his time on the sea, and before long, into his teen years, he got wrapped up in some pirating business-- small time gangs, of sorts, that ran the coast of Nabata and out to the Isles, sometimes traveling down towards the Lycian coasts. It was mostly benign, showoff runs-- medium sized vessels that would harass smaller fishing boats, but that would occasionally start fights on the sea with other, smaller gangs. This type of activity molded Jude into a self-serving miscreant, and before long his father wanted little to do with him.
When his pirate crew began treating him as a second-class citizen because he was younger and less experienced, Jude dropped himself off in Lycia and picked up residence, doing light work around the local towns and stealing to get by. Most often he resides in the forests outside of the cities, but occasionally gets enough coin for a room at the inn.
Now he travels when he can, in an attempt to get a vessel to go back to Nabata, but not before he finds his sister, Bee Hives.
