Name: Siegfried Aschdenne
Class: Mercenary
Age: 20
Born in: Ilia
Appearance: Siegfried has blonde hair and green eyes, stands at about 6'2 and has an athletic, muscular build. His facial features aren't quite matured yet and still look a bit youthful, but not childlike or anything. Siegfried often wears a grin or a smile on his face, and his eyes seem to scream confidence.
He wears twin silver pauldrons, both with blue trim, and a thick, dark blue, padded gambeson for protection with fur around the collar. His pants are simple beige slacks and he wears brown leather boots that reach just under his knees. He wears a leather sword belt across his chest, over top of the gambeson, and has another sword belt around his waist.
Personality: Siegfried is a friendly enough fellow, the type to smile and greet you warmly and energetically. He loves meeting new people and sharing various tales with him, and he's especially fond of meeting new lady friends. A bit of a social butterfly, but he can also be a bit dense socially, certain jokes flying over his head for example. Regardless he's kind enough to those he meets, but he has a bit of a crude humor to him at times. If he winds up making close friends with someone Siegfried will grow attached to them, willing to stand up for them and protect them under any circumstances.
Siegfried is a man who lives by a mantra of surpassing himself everyday. He trains hard and often to get stronger and always goes out of his way to learn something new if he can help it. When it comes to improving he can get restless and impatient, but his resolve rarely wavers in this regard. This is due to the confidence he has in himself, though he can get a bit overconfident and bite off more than he can chew: accepting challenges or opponents he definitely can't handle.
He looks up to his mentor and boss, Ulfric, with admiration. Siegfried has an appreciation for famous heroes of his time and legendary warriors from history, too, and always enjoys hearing a story about them. It's his great aspiration to leave his mark on Elibe as one such warrior, whose name would go down in history, myth, and song. Preferably as someone who fought on the side of justice, whichever side that may be, for Siegfried does have quite the sense of justice. He has a sound moral code he adheres to, which causes him to look down on “criminals” and “murderers” such as thieves and bandits. Though as a mercenary, Siegfried does wonder sometimes if he's any better than they are. This harsh code can lead to many trying situations where Siegfried is forced to choose between his morals or something he desires, or someone he cares about.
Story: Born in Ilia to two retired mercenaries, Siegfried grew up surrounded by tales of great warriors. Be they Ilian heroes, Etrurian heroes, or even his own parents, he can always remember being told of the great deeds and battles overcome and fought by these legends and warriors. It didn't take much time at all for Siegfried to realize that he desired to become a warrior as well.
Being a son of Ilia, Siegfried first attempted riding at the early age of 7. His mother's horse was a bit unruly but nothing he shouldn't have been able to handle, so long as his mother was there to coach him through it. Alas Siegfried did not quite take to riding...and his mother's hose did not quite take to him, either refusing to move all together or sprinting around the area with reckless abandon.
His mother assured Siegfried that, with time, he would learn to ride, but even then the boy had decided he'd rather stay on foot for combat. When faced with which weapon he would learn he found himself quite tempted by the spear, but ultimately decided he'd test his luck with the sword.
Training went well, for years he worked on his skills with a sword, under the tutelage of his parents, and took a great shine to it. He developed quite the confidence, and would even challenge his friends and neighbours to duels, oftentimes winning. Even if he was against a more experienced fighter most of the children in his village had taken to horseback combat over combat on foot, and as such were outclassed in a standard duel.
Soon enough, around the age of 16, Sieg had gotten quite cocky. He was even starting to challenge adults to see if he could beat them, which went about 50/50 for him. One day an older man ventured into the village, a small group of mercenaries with them. The man's hair was greying but he was built strong and carried an impressive broadsword on him. He seemed more battle hardened than anyone Sieg had ever laid eyes on.
If he could beat him, then he'd really be something to talk about.
Siegfried approached the man and challenged him, ignoring the laughs of his comrades. Surprisingly the man was graceful enough to accept the challenge, and the two stepped outside of the pub and readied for the duel.
It was over in an instant, and Siegfried found himself on his back with the man's blade hovering just in front of his face. Siegfried couldn't even believe it himself. Even the duels he'd lost he hadn't lost so swiftly. Further ignoring the jests and laughs of the man's fellow mercenaries, Siegfried asked to join. It was high time he left Ilia and started to pull his own weight just like the rest of his countrymen.
The man was amused, but stated that the world outside his village was far more dangerous than he thought. He'd have to be certain that he was ready to join the company.
Siegfried was, and he never looked back since.
