Bestial warriors from an age long lost to history, Taguel were once respected as some of the most deadly warriors in all of Elibe; while not blessed with the same innate strengths as the dragons of old, their lifestyle on the fringes of society, locked in constant combat with the dark things that once crawled in the shadows of a dying age, forged them into self-made warriors to the last.
And then they weren't.
Somewhere in the timeframe of the Scouring, the Taguel simply disappeared from Elibe, seemingly overnight. While their relationship with humanity had never been as strained as human-dragon relations, some said that they saw the writing on the wall - that humanity could never coexist with another race, and that their reckoning was only a matter of time. Others said that the Taguel, ever the stolid guardians of Elibe, left to fight another, greater threat. Still others assumed they had been wiped out by the dragons for some perceived slight, or perhaps that they were simply victims of the Ending Winter.
Whatever the case, the Taguel were gone, and nary a trace of them remained. Humanity as a whole shrugged and moved on, focused more on the great war against their oppressors, and the dragons - well, by the time the deed was done, there were none left to tell the tale. In the wake of the Ending Winter, as the world burned around them, unfathomable quantities of knowledge was lost; Taguel became simply a footnote in the annals of history, and then were forgotten entirely as humanity struggled to survive in the brutal conditions following the Scouring. Today, there is nary a human alive who knows they ever existed.

With the ongoing event hitting the point I had hoped it would and the date reaching the timeframe I was waiting for, I think it's high time to let everyone have access to Taguel rather than the lucky few in group B (who were basically glorified beta testers, rip). It's been a loooooooong time coming, more than any of you know, so trust me when I say I'm about as happy to get them out the door as some of y'all are to get them.
For anyone not especially familiar with Awakening's Taguel, they're basically bunny people - similar to dragons but with beast forms instead of giant lizards. They are also, frankly, a bit lower on the power scale; not quite the same crazy free power as dragons, but in return, they're easily the most customizable and complex race we've released yet and have less limits on how and when they use their powers. With that in mind, please understand that there may be changes post-release, buffs or nerfs or more likely both, depending on how they work out in play! We've done our best to make them as awesome as possible but it's likely that there were abuse cases we missed, weaknesses that are just a bit too harsh, etc.
This is also an opportunity for players to help shape the perceptions of the greatest discovery in the known history of Elibe - to have a direct part in whether Taguel end up able to peacefully reconcile with the people of Elibe, or if there will be a war of extermination once again. What does that mean? Well, Taguel don't have the millennium of hatred and distrust that dragon PCs have labored under so you aren't going to instantly get hunted down and murdered for transforming to get a kitten out of a tree, but if you go around murdering innocent villagers, it's possible Taguel as a whole may eventually end up having to hide their identities on Elibe or avoid it entirely.
That said, even if all goes well, Taguel are an unknown factor to the people of Elibe, and even the best-meaning would-be heroes may run into discrimination or even outright attacks. We're leaving the how and why to individual roleplayers, rather than enforcing this by mod fiat - just use your best judgement on how people would react.
...But enough of all this out of character malarkey. Go forth and multiply
