Name: Seoras Ahlstan
Class/Race:
Recruit
Age:
16
Birthplace:
Santaruz - Lycia
Appearance:
Seoras stands at six foot even, with a strong frame, enhanced by his life on the farm.
Personality:
Seoras has always been a highly empathetic boy, when others are experiencing emotional highs or lows, Seoras either tries to console them when its negative, and or join in when its positive. His strong exterior hides a gentle and kind soul who seeks only to help those who are in need, and to right the great injustices of the world. His ideals are like that of any other hope filled youth, believing the world can be changed with just a few acts of kindness, and feats of heroism. He has his own ups and downs just like everyone else, but he tries to bottle up his own emotions, or conceal those he doesn't want others to see. He feels this is more helpful then harmful, as he should be that certain bastion of serenity everyone looks for.
Backstory:
Seoras was born to a farming family, in Santaruz, a south eastern territory of Lycia, slightly north west of Pherae. His beginnings were humble like any other farmer's son. He tilled, plowed, seeded, watered, and worked the fields for most of his life. Never a care, nor dream outside of a better world, a brighter tomorrow. His father served Ostia as a soldier fairly early on his life, retiring to land earned, to build and tend a farm. He would marry a Pharean woman, who hailed from a family of merchants. She brought mercantile and good business practices to the family farm, as well as giving Seoras's father eight children, Seoras being the youngest.
Growing up the youngest of eight was... difficult. Seoras generally had hand me downs, the smallest room, the smallest plate, and the most work. His siblings, three sisters and four brothers, were all older then him by five years at least. The oldest brothers, twins, left to serve Ostia as footmen, dying during the Prophets destruction of the Capital. His sisters have all been married off to local farmers and merchants. Lastly, his other two brothers both work the farm with him, knowing their aging parents need as much help as they can get.
As he has gotten older, his friends and other local boys his age, have all either joined the resistance in Bern, mercenary bands, or gone to Laus to be trained as knights. Seoras however, receives massive pressure from his family to stay on the farm, and remain a farmer for the rest of his life, the outside world being to dangerous. His mind wavering, between duty to his family, and his need for a better, brighter, safer world, almost literally tearing away at him. His conscious struggling to grasp at what is right and wrong, what is he should and shouldn't do, what he must do. He could either strike out on his own, learn a weapon, and make a name for himself helping those in need. Or, he could stay on this farm for the rest of his life, tasking away day by day, blending in to the monotony of farm life, all for the sake of honoring his family.
Struggling for months, his sixteenth birthday came, and news of his sister, nephew, and brother-in-law, the merchant, dying to bandits while on a business trip. This was... the deciding factor for Seoras, his driving force to leave. He told his father he would be leaving, to help this world in any way he could. Seoras met resistance, however ultimately, it didn't matter. He took his fathers spear, chest plate, and packed a traveling bag, before leaving home, for the first time in his life with greater purpose. He would not falter.
