I hope I named that bird right.
Anyway, we have Griffon Riders, Dragon Riders, and Pegasus Riders. Griffon Riders get swords and the other two lances. I know this site is based on the 7th game and the difference in the classes are more focused on the mounts and not the weapons; thus wyvern riders use lances and not axes, but I think a fourth mount for a flying bow user would make sense, so I propose the kenshi knight class.

Where do the Kinshi themselves come from?

Easiest answer I can come up with, without saying oh look, they were on Vinland. Would be similar in that during the "Greatest Adventure of your Lives" threads, they could be found somewhere out there.

We recently discussed this, as someone wanted to make a nomad with a wyvern. We believe that a bow wielding flying unit would be overpowered as they would never need to return to the ground and are therefor nearly impossible for a close range, grounded unit to defeat. Additionally, they'd have a very easy time defeating flying units, with their bow's advantage. So that's where we last stood on this matter.

I did consider that possible issue as well, but allow me to raise the concern of mounted characters that reach champion level. You can argue they earned it at this point but the same problem still exists.

To be fair, balance should usually be made assuming equal level characters. A Champion has ways to counter a Champion Flier, whereas a Swordmaster or Paladin has little chance to retaliate to a Pegasus knight taking fly-by shots at them from above.
I think using a bow on a flying creature is pretty reasonable logic-wise, but the execution and balance would be hard to pull off.

The sheer level of skill irc that would be required to effectively utilize a bow without becoming a stationary target in the air would require not just a champion character, given that they only gain access to bows at 500 posts, would put them several hundred posts above. Beyond this, with how magic weapons and ranged weapons work, a champion level sword/ax/lance user will almost certainly have a way to retaliate reliably.
This means that the concern of early/mid post balance is no trouble while also giving people a chance to really enjoy anything at the end of the day.

Guess I can't argue all those points. let alone effectively.
