“Here’s you cut, Pendragon.” A gruff voice said, one that belonged to a rough looking man who was currently handing over a bag of coin over to the Pendragon in question. This man was the head guard for a rather wealthy individual who had recently wanted to beef up his security while he was moving from one place to another. With the threats of bandits, monsters and who knows what else that are seemingly increasing as time goes by it wasn’t surprising that people would want more muscle behind them to secure safe travels. It was certainly strange times in Lycia.
Luke had been one of a couple of mercenaries that had been hired in order to guarantee safe passage for a rather wealthy merchant as he was making his way to his destination. The merchant was apparently making his way toward Santaruz but had to make stops along the way. Luke was only hired to transport the merchant this far and wasn’t sure that he wished to continue their journey and make it all the way to Santaruz. Honestly he wasn’t sure it was all the trouble and the payment he just received was more than enough already. He had time to mull it over as the merchant was taking rest in the town they had stopped in for the night.
The town was rather lively, you wouldn’t even know about the country was plagued with monsters if you spent time in this place. Luke found it odd but at the same time a nice change of pace. It surely beat going from one gloom and doom town to the next one. He wasn’t sure what to do to preoccupy his time; it was still early with the sun being high in the sky. He’d have to find something to while he decided what his next move would be. Part of him felt that he should just continue with the job and make some more coin.
He made his way to the town’s marketplace, wandering about and viewing what was available and noticing the music that could heard in the distance. He wasn’t looking for another particular and was just trying to waste some time. Maybe something would catch his eye and he would end this little trip with something to show for it. Most likely not, Luke wasn’t the type to go around spending his money all that much and especially on things he didn’t need. However that didn’t mean that every once in a while he bought something just because. Perhaps after this he would head over to a tavern and get himself a nice drink.
Along the way he paused, coming across what he would blame for the town being so lively. A performer’s troupe was putting on a show for the people of the town. It wasn’t too often one say such a sight, especially nowadays, so Luke decided that he would watch for the time being. Musicians, dancers, magicians, anything that one would assume a performer’s troupe would be made of were present. It was quite the show they were putting on.
