Name:Zareb Shesha
Class:Taguel-Snake
Age:33
Born in:Vinland
Appearance:Black scales and yellow eyes. His pupils are that of a snake’s, vertical slits are opposed to circles. This snake tribe Naga has the head of a cobra, four arms and a long, thick tail on which it slithers through the shadows. Although his tail is large, Zareb is adept at climbing and finding nooks and crannies suitable for him to lie in wait in. His arms are often adorned with bracelets or rings which he removes in cases where stealth is of the utmost importance. Zareb has even been seen wearing intricate headdresses which frame the ridges of his serpentine head. Zareb prides himself on his ability to remain unseen at times so it is important to note that he blends in well with the shadows.
He will often be seen either with his dark, split tongue flitting about or simply hanging from his mouth. His mouth contains two dagger like fangs on the roof, while there are two smaller fangs on the bottom. As a side note, the mouth can open surprisingly wide.
Personality:
Sneaky and preferably nocturnal. Enjoys stalking the shadows in silence. Zareb has a tendency to hang onto the ‘s’ sounds when he speaks as some type of homage to his heritage. He takes his religion and his job seriously, placing them higher than most other things. He likes to refer to himself as something along the lines of patient knowledge gatherer. He’s a spy. One who deals in the trading of information, be it about the root or any other interesting facts. Zareb is patient, lying in wait until the information he desires is revealed to him. Then, he will continue to lie motionless, until he is safe to make his escape.
Zareb is kind to family and friends, but also rather protective of them. He is notably suspicious of newcomers and typically unwelcoming if they are in his territory. That said he expects the same treatment if the reverse is true.
Zareb does not consider himself a fighter, but if he must he will strike from the shadows in an attempt to end any conflict before it begins. He may use his long tail to ensnare a foe, allowing him to finish the job with his four arms and fangs.
History:
As a child, Zareb always won games of hide and seek. His black scales and sharp eyes made him a natural contender. He was also taught these were very important blessings for the snake tribe. “The import of secrecy and espionage cannot be overstated.” Apparently, he could find secrets of Akasha that other Conclaves had by simply watching and waiting. But of course, the young snake did not care about any of those things. Zareb just wanted to learn about Akasha the old fashioned way. Reading scrolls and old texts. That was exactly what he did, until he was ten years old.
Zareb was specifically summoned by his Conclave’s matriarch, a particularly intimidating Lamia. He was sent on a mission. The mission was risky but, he dared not refuse the tribe’s snake leader. Even as a child he knew that would be a terrible idea. The mission was simple. A group of Naga’s would move on another conclave. Those more oriented toward combat would briefly engage with the guardians of the target. This gave a small window where the young snake could infiltrate the enemy’s underground chambers and wait. A few days later, Zareb’s squad of troops would return again, giving the young one a chance to escape, along with whatever secrets he had gathered at the time.
Simple as the plan was, Zareb got caught immediately. He was detained for two straight days. The ten year old Zareb was certain he was going to be killed. However, on the morning of the third day he was brought before the enemy matriarch. She proposed an offer he couldn’t refuse. Turn double agent on the place of his birth and provide information to the enemy on a monthly basis. Zareb agreed and returned to is Conclave along the original timeline. Zareb couldn’t just completely turn his back on his home. So he decided to provide both sides with information about the other.
Zareb was a ten year old double agent, tracking information that he was far too young to comprehend. But the situation forced him to grow up fast. Eventually he had to make a call. He decided he would come clean to his original matriarch. Luckily, this was all part of the plan. It was some sort of twisted training regimen for the young Naga. The matriarchs made an arrangement to have him captured and trained as a careful agent.
The Naga understood. It was trial by fire. He had to learn to take care of his words, actions. He had to listen carefully, move between the conclaves in secret. Zareb was never in any true danger, so the training was essentially a test. Zareb passed the test, as annoying and ill-conceived as it was.
The dark Naga spent the following years running (or rather slithering) stealth missions. Surveillance, intelligence, and actual espionage for the two tribes that had trained him. To this day, he is collecting information on newcomers to his homeland. The Humans of Elibe.
