Name: Ian Riley
Class: Soldier
Dragon Element:
Age: 17
Born in: Santaruz, Lycia
Appearance: Ian is a five foot, ten inch tall young man with a light tan and a creamy complexion. His face is often flushed due to being weather worn from his travels. He has dark yellow-orange hair somewhere around the color of fine brass. His hair is shoulder length, but often kept tied back in a pony tail. The young soldier's body is lean with a bit of muscle from his training since youth.
Ian's attire is more often than not his suit of armor. Under his armor he wears comfortable cotton breeches and a cotton doublet with a leather vest over it. Atop that vest is a small chest plate with leather straps around the back and a smaller backplate to protect his upper back as well as the support straps. He has a single, smooth pauldron over his left shoulder leading down to a wide vambrace and an armored gauntlet on his left hand. His right arm has a light vambrace with a forearm length leather gauntlet under it and a soft leather pauldron over the shoulder. He has a metal tasset hanging off of his left hip as well as a chain skirt underneath. He doesn't wear plate boots, but rather has armored, interlocking knee, shin, and foot plates that strap around his knee length leather boots to protect his shins, knees, and feet. All leather in his attire is common brown hide leather and his armor is unpainted, but polished very well all over. Every piece of his armor is trimmed in bronze to give it some variation and decoration without looking too expensive.
Personality: Ian is a strong willed, bold, and brash fellow with a heart that thirsts for adventure and justice. He is an honest and friendly fellow if you can get passed his brusque, but very spirited nature. He has fierce pride in his abilities as a soldier, and more often than not he will uphold his own honor even against all his other quirks. Even though he's not a member of the knighthood, Ian would scarce leave a helpless or innocent citizen high and dry if they were in danger. Despite being rough around the edges, he is good at heart. Although he is friendly and honorable, the young soldier for hire is often self serving and opportunistic. He'll never miss a chance to make himself look good or get ahead as long as it doesn't interfere with his sense of pride as a warrior or his sense of justice. His pride and sense of justice can be a thorn in his side when he's on the prowl for jobs.
History: Born to one of the lesser noble houses within Santaruz, Ian seemed destined for greatness from an early age. They put a lance in his hands to prepare him for the knighthood, and his training showed that he had a wealth of talent for combat that most of his relatives did not possess. He was truly a prodigy and would bring great fortune and honor to the household.
But to their dismay, Ian was the black sheep of the family. He was wild and a bit unrefined when it came to stuffy things like etiquette and strict laws. His carefree attitude and fiery spirit made him difficult to handle for even the head of the household, and when he came of age it seemed as if nothing could go right for his noble house.
Upon coming of age, Ian was set to be initiated into the knighthood properly and ceremoniously, but the night before the ceremony he had extremely heated words with his grandfather, who was the head of the house.
Ian didn't want the life of a knight or of the nobility. He wanted to be a warrior of the world, traveling to see what the lands around him had to offer while honing his lance to a masterful point.
His grandfather could do naught to stop him. Killing the boy would bring suspicion and shame to the house, and so they struck a deal. Ian would cast off his family's noble name as to not sully their reputation. In exchange, his grandfather would grant him supplies for his initial trip and the freedom to do as he wished. He even offered the boy a chance to return to his home if he ever so desired, on the grounds that his return would mark his entry into the knighthood and giving up the freedom to as he pleased.
Ian left before sunrise, and has yet to return to his home with the intent of being bound to the small nation. He travels around, using his spear to make coin. Luckily for him, with bandits and monsters on the rise, there's ever an abundance of coin to be made...
