The two on the same topic only because I beat them both on the same day(today, that is).
Alundra is a Zelda-style 2D game for the PlayStation, and it is better than the first in oh so many ways it's not even funny. Huge dungeons, hard puzzles, irritating(and extremely strong) bosses, and an AMAZING soundtrack. What else can you ask for? Hell, it even has a story(unlike Zelda's "Save the princess" cliche)
Soul Reaver 2, on the other hand, has probably the most complex time-traveling story I've seen, and it is also the best story I've seen as well. Available to PC, PS2 and X-Box, this game has amazing graphics, really long dungeons, EXTREMELY hard puzzles(doubt you've seen harder than this, Lufia 2's aside), and quite the good gameplay. You don't have so many "battle actions", so to say(light and heavy attack, running attack, your claws and 3 different kinds of weapons, but that's it), but it still makes you want to keep playing, if only for the amazing story. This game is part of the Legacy of Kain series, and goes in this order: Blood Omen, Soul Reaver, Soul Reaver 2, Defiance. And I really don't know where exactly Blood Omen 2 comes, but probably right after Blood Omen.

Blood Omen 2 came out a long time ago, before Defiance.

I meant, in story order, not release order.

I only played a demo of one of the Soul Reaver and up to that castle Raziel get stuck in after passing those 20 or so pillars but I loved what I saw. LoK has a very compelling story.

Well, the 9(I think they are 9) Pillars of Nosgoth are in EVERY game of the "Legacy of Kain" series, but a castle right afterwards? Soul Reaver 2 has a "palace" of sorts(with a giant ancient squid god inside it), a swamp right afterwards, and then a fortress.
I REALLY have to play Soul Reaver(SR 1, I mean).

Oh, sorry I screwed up the sentence. I borrowed a copy and Defaince and played up to the castle where Raziel goes to after the Pillars.

I have Defiance, but CD 2 does't work for some reason, so I can't install it. >_<

I played Alundra as well, and the dream sequences were probably the best, and most creative puzzles. The rest seemed... realistic. You can't make realistic puzzles as challanging as off the wall ones. ...then again, I hadn't played in a while, and I may be way off base. I just know it was a great game. ^^
