"Damn !" a blonde guy shouted, punching a nearby wall of the cave.
Matis couldn't be of much help in the fight, and Jaffer was now dead.
The least he could do was bury his body in the Sacae plains before going to Ostia. There, he planned to live in a cave for a way, both to hide from the bandits, and to be able to train without being interrupted by anyone.
The Mani Katti shined in his sheath, ready to be used at any time. It was as mighty as when he had gotten it at the temple in the plains.

He lived off animal meat, mainly deers and bears, even though the later where harder to take down, but that was better, cause that helped him polish his reflexes.
Bandits had tried to attack the nearby villages many times already, in less than a month, and when Matis found out about said attacks, he stopped them with the help of the villagers.
But he knew that he wasn't the one saving the village. It was the Mani Katti that gave him those powers. He knew that even if the Mani Katti was really powerful, it'd be of no use if he was weak.

He tried various things to practise swordmanship, but it was of no use. The Mani Katti was so sharp that it could cut both trees and rocks in one blow.
He still had his Slim Sword, though, and he used that to train for the time being.
He slashed and thrusted the trees in the nearby area, trying jumping attacks, and when he could, he practised his reflexes against the bears of the forest, while avoiding killing them.
Training proved to be good, because in little to no time, his slashes with the Slim Sword were enough to cut trees in one or two blows.

One day, though, various men from Bern came to Ostia, looking for the lords that had wrecked havoc in the Ruinz bandits's hideout, and somehow, the found the cave where Matis lived in.
There were two archers, a heavily armored knight, and two cavaliers. It was weird that there were no bandits with them, but as soon as the group had seen and recognized him, they followed him around the forest, trying to kill him.
The forest was about to end, and he could run no further, as a river stood in his way, and there was no way to cross it. He had no choice, so he took out the Mani Katti, and got ready to fight.

The cavaliers where going around Matis, inspecting him, and trying to find a good enough time to attack. Meanwhile, the knight pointed at him with his lance, as the archers readied their bows, and were about to shoot.
The arrows flew throught the air, and Matis could barely dodge them. One of them went right by his left shoulder, leaving a cut on it.
At the same time, the cavaliers charged at him, but with a swift and fast blow from the blade, both fell to the ground, severly damaged.

The archers watched in horror at the cavaliers that were dying from bleeding.
Taking this change, Matis ran up to one of them, stabbing him in the stomach, and hastily tackled the second one to the ground, stabbing him in the heart.
Only the knight was left, and he was using an Iron Lance. Lance users generally had a hard time against sword users, and this was no exception. Not only that, being in such armor, Matis could outspeed him easily, and he was carrying a very sharp sword.
As if controlled by the sword again, Matis seemed to dissapear in thin air, followed closely by two loud and metallic sounds.
Seconds later, the knight fell to the ground, dead.

"I can't keep living like this. Time to regroup with Sain, Calis and Kenshin."
Where were they headed to ? I saw Sain head to Ostia with Florina. Calis is probably back at his castle, but what about Kenshin ?
"I...I think I know where he went."
With that, Matis started running to the Sacae plains.
