OoC: If anyone wants to join, go ahead. It's an open thread.
IC: Today his training ended and his true experiences began. He sat on a bench, with a few other recruits, but he was different. Those recruits were going to train into soldiers, or knights, or even something else boring. But Atticus was no recruit; he was a squire. He was going to be something much better, in his opinion. He wanted to hold that lance, but he wanted to feel the power of an animal beneath him that he controlled. He felt gitty just thinking about it. That's also why the recruits were staying away from him. He was probably one of the youngest there. Some others around him were in their twenties. One of the guys looked like he was thirty. Atticus didn't mind them though. Other than the other thirteen-year-old there, he was pretty young. Atticus noticed some of the older people talk behind his back. Sometimes, they even went up to him and made fun of him. But, those times were because he was a squire, not because of his height. He stood proudly when he walked. Suddenly, it was quiet. Everyone stopped talking, and looked ahead of them. Atticus looked up, and saw his old mentor coming his way. As the old man shuffled over to Atticus, he made a notion with his hand and said, "Come, Atticus." At that, Atticus was up and ready for anything. He started walking beside his mentor, at his right side. --- When the two got to where they were going, Atticus looked around. It was the council room for Marquess Caelin himself. At the end of the room, by a window, was the Marquess and another man. The teacher and student walked to the other men. The Marquess turned around, then beamed at Atticus. "Hello, my dear boy," he began, calmly, "I'm glad you've arrived. I need to discuss something with you." Atticus nodded, and the Marquess continued. "I have seen you train, and so has your mentor here. We, and this gentleman," he notioned to the man looking out the window, "Believe that youare a one of a kind boy. I believe that you may be the first of your kind. Of course, if you want to. We are offering the challenge and training to become the first official Wyvern Rider of Caelin. It will be challenging, or it may come to an ease with you. If you do not wish to, you don't have to. We have everything you need. All you have to do, is say if you want to or not. So, my dear boy, are you up to the challenge?" During the whole speech, Atticus eagerly payed attention. By the end, all of Atticus' insides were jumping up and down, to a frow. Yet, even with his face of sure delight, Atticus simply replied, "It would be my honor, Marquess." A smile then spread across the Marquess' face. "Excellent, my dear boy, your training will begin tommorow. You are dismissed." Atticus politly bowed, left the room, and started dancing a little jig on his way to his room. Today was the best day of his life.

OoC: Like I said, anyone can join. I just want to get on with rping. Just don't bash the thread.
BiC: The Next Morning... Atticus woke up that day ready to learn. But who was going to teach him? He was always taught by his old mentor, so who was the other man? He seemed to be a strong man, not on the outside, but on the inside. Atticus would soon find out how true those words were. As Atticus entered the area of his training, he saw the man. He was very tall, especially to Atticus. But then again, most things were pretty tall to him. He continued walking to the man, anyway. When Atticus approuched the man, the man turned to face him for the first time. His hair was long, his eyes were a deep green. His armor was also green, a dark green. The man stood tall. When he spoke, his voice was strong, but not too deep. "So, you've come, and right on time as well. I guess you have some questions, but let's get formalities over with. My name is Axel, and I once was a great wyvern lord." Atticus gave his introductions, then asked, "Sir Axel, why were you once known as a great wyvern lord? aren't you still one?" Axel gave a slight grin and chuckle, then became serious once more and replied, "The reason I am not now is nothing for you to be concerned with. I am here to teach those who wish to learn of combat on a wyvern's back." alex then turned, looked back at Atticus, and gave him a gesture to follow. Atticus obeyed, and the two began to walk around the castle. Alex began with a lecture on the history of wyvern riding. He explained that in the old days, dragons and wyverns went down different roads and branched off into the different species. One evolved, the other evolved in a more primal way. Atticus was facinated by this. He was also facinated by the fact that wyvern riding has advanced throughout the ages. The techniques altered with different cultures, how some were better than others, and that in the end, all those different communities of wyvern-based people ended up in the area now known as Bern. The two talked and talked all day, Atticus suddenly finding a new kind of respect for Alex and the wyvern riding conception. By the time they were done talking, it was late evening. "Well, Atticus, I believe it is getting late. Good night, Atticus. I will see you tommorow. You are dismissed."

It was evening, and it was getting dark. Kyle had been traveling for days through Lycia, not finding any kind of town. He was hoping he would run into Santuraz, but he figured he already passed it by now. Not to mention, he was getting hungry, too. He hadn't taken a break, just because he didn't want to camp again. He had enough gold for a room, thanks to the merchant.
As he was wearily walking onward, he suddenly saw a clearing in the forest. He saw some lights, and could hear some noises. As he neared, there were more voices, more lights. Kyle found some renewed strength to get to the place. He was suddenly at the edge of a town. The town wasn't full of people, but where there was civilization, there had to be an inn. Kyle began to walk into the town, looking around, hoping to find someone who could help him.

Atticus was in a great mood. He really learned a lot today, and he really liked his new teacher. However, he had questions more questions. How did Axel know so much about wyverns? Where did he live before living in Caelin? And how was it that training a Squire to become a Wyvern Rider become so important, the Marquess had to know? Atticus was puzzled by this.
As Atticus walked into the town he lived in, he saw it was busier than usual. It must have been some special deals in the market today. Atticus grinned happily. Perhaps he would go into the market to get something to eat tonight. He began to walk into the market area.

Kyle went through what little the crowd was at the moment. It probably was so small, because of the later hour. He saw stalls, some empty, some full, of everything. He passed mostly fruit and vegetables. However, Kyle saw some interesting swords and other weapons for sale. He was tempted, but Kyle would not give in to such wants in life. Besides, he thought some of them were a bit dirty.
As Kyle was looking onward, he saw a flash of red in his vision. He then recognized the red to be armor on a person. A smaller, younger person. Kyle was perplexed by this, but he needed to find someone to help him. He quickened his pace to catch up to the young man... or was he still a boy?
He caught up to the boy, and asked as politely as he could, "Excuse me, young man, could you direct me to the closest tavern in the area?" Now Kyle got a good look at the boy. He was shorter than he, and younger. What he found most interesting about the boy was his hair... it was blue. Kyle agreed to himself he would never bring it up.

Atticus, caught by surprise, whirled around. He jumped at the same time, almost making himself fall over. As sudden as his panic was, he sighed, and stood up straight again. He was looking down at the time, and was saying indirectly to the man, "Sorry sir, you caught me a bit off guard. I was just-" He stopped as he looked up. The man he was speaking to had a hard, scary kind of face. He knew he shouldn't have been scared, but he still was.
Atticus saw the man's face, his height, and he noticed the sword by his side. He could tell this man had been in combat many times. Again, another reason Atticus was scared. He tried to say bravely, "You sh-sh-shouldn't mess w-w-with... me... I-I'm a g-g-..." Atticus could barely finish the rest.

Kyle's face softened to a sympothetic look. He didn't mean to scare the kid so badly, but that was how he traveled; with a mean look and a sword at his side. Trying to not scare the kid any more, Kyle said to him, "Hey, I'm not going to hurt you. I just need some directions. To a tavern, or an inn, whatever you call it..."
He suddenly let down his head, and shook it slowly. Kyle then brought his head back up, and said, in a sorry voice, "Look, I'll make it up to you. How about I help you with something. Anything, you name it." Kyle had no idea what he was getting into. He just felt so sorry for the kid.

Atticus started to calm down when he saw the face, and remained quite when he was talking. But all that Atticus was thinking about was how he needed that lance the instructor was going to give him. But that was to happen tomorrow. Atticus was still shaking in fear.
Then he heard the man's proposal. It sounded promising, and he did need someone to help him carry groceries. So, Attcius decided to take him up on his offer. Atticus replied, in a shaky voice, "Well, you can f-f-first start calling me b-by my title. I am Sir Atticus, l-loyal to M-Marquess Caelin. "May I ask w-what your name might be?"

Kyle, still trying to keep that sympathetic look, gave a friendly gesture to Atticus. He then said, "Okay, Sir Atticus, but before we keep up with our deal, can you tell me if there's a tavern, or an inn around here?" As worried for Atticus as he was, Kyle still needed to keep in mind he had needs as well. He just hoped that the kid would keep his cool, and not get in another panic.

Atticus listened to the man. He sounded like a nice enough person. It was very generous to make such a "deal" like this one. However, it seemed to Atticus that he avoided his question. Was it perhaps that he did not want to be known? Atticus was thinking about asking him soon.
Atticus replied, gaining his courage back bit by bit, "Yes there is an inn here in town." Atticus put on a bit of what looked like to be a smile, as he continued. "It would be kind of funny if there wasn't one next to Castle Caelin. What would people think of the Marquess if other people journeying here had no place to stay, for at least one night."
Atticus then put on a straight face. He then asked, strongly, "However, I must ask again. What is your name, sir?" As strongly as he said this (which was not much, mostly because of his youth and lighter voice) he tried to match this with his eyes. Again, very hard for someone who looks innocent in the least.

Kyle sighed, knowing he had forgot something vital to say. This probably meant that the kid, or as he liked to be called, Sir Atticus, didn't trust him much more. Kyle would find a way to get some trust back, if there was any t begin with.
"Sorry Atticus," began Kyle, "My name is Kyle, and thats what everyone calls me. I need to find an inn, because I've been travelling for days. Now, please, what else do I have to do, because I'm dead-beat tired." He spoke the truth. All Kyle wanted was to find some kind of bed, lay down in it, and sleep.
