Wyatt had finished getting the horses ready and came into the base of the inn, wiping the sweat from his brow.
"Whew, nothing like getting the blood flowing in the morning. That barding is heavier then it looks, I dunno how Denzel manages it." He said aloud to nobody in particular, sitting down at a small table, and pulling out a water skin to quench his thirst as he awaited the rest of his companions.
The journey was ending soon, this would be the last morning he would see them all.
That had been part of the reason he hadn't really gotten to known many of them, he probably wasn't going to see any of them except Denzel again. Was this what the life of an adventurer was like?

Selk had slept very well that night. It was the first night recently that he'd slept easy. He wasn't sure why. Maybe it was because he was back in a town, or perhaps it was because he was fully exhausted. It didn't make much sense to him, but he felt good to rest for a full night. As he got up in the morning he realized he'd been asleep a bit longer than normal for him. He was a farm boy, and sleeping in wasn't a common thing. He rushed to get up, quickly putting on his overclothes and armor before pulling on his travel bag and strapping his lance to his back. He took a quick look at the sword he found during their battles. It wasn't in the best of shape, but it was still usable. Perhaps he could get something out of it....or give it to one of his comrades. He slipped the sword into its tattered leather sheath and walked out of the inn and in the direction of the horses. He spotted Wyatt already there with the horses prepared for travel. "Morning, Wyatt," Selk called with a wave of his hand as he approached.

Aaron was just about to finish the prologue to the second part of his book when, "fsshh", the torch by his door went out. This snapped the mage back to the moment; it was time to be going.
He put his book away, and went to inspect the torch. Apparently, when he had used his mage craft to light it, he had used up most of it's store of fuel, resulting in a premature death of the flame.
He had finished the first part of his book telling of some of the great heroes of the Scouring. The next parts of his book would talk of lesser known heroes local to each region on the continent. This was the part he was really interested in.
Aaron left his room, ready for the day. He fell into step a little behind one of his comrades, Selk Mar, and followed him out of the inn.
"Morning Wyatt, Selk." he said, after he was outside.

Denzel emerged from the inn soon after Aaron. "I took the liberty of readying the horses so we can get off to a quick start if that's alright with you all." Wyatt spoke. "Sounds good," Denzel said. "We should reach Laus in about two hours or so, so let's get going." The group of friends of chance meeting then mounted their steed and set out for the last part of what was thought to be their only journey together.

Wyatt rode silently for a bit before he spoke to Denzel.
"Hey. I understand why you didn't want to say goodbye, but is this really the right way to do things? I mean, I don't like long drawn out farewells either but..."
He fell silent, and then waved his hand.
"Nah, you're right. It's best that we not get too attached, we'll probably never meet again. It'd only be harder the more we stay."

Malachi hadn't slept at all that night. He laid in his bed, arms crossed behind his head, and staring up into the blank ceiling. It had been so long since he had been in such a battle, so long since he had put his life on the line for others. Malachi turned onto his side and shut his eyes, not trying to fall asleep, but think about what he had gone through and what he was going to do.
By morning Malachi was still awake, though it felt as though he had slept the whole night. He grabbed his armor and gear and slipped it on. He sheathed his Javelin and held his Lance in his right hand. Malachi looked picked up his helmet and looked at it: it had a thin slit in it for you to see through, and had a think look to it. It was curved at the top and near the bottom it slowly widened. He held it there, examining the perfectly clean armor. Malachi attached his helmet to his belt and walked out of his room. He went outside of the inn just to see a few of his companions ride off. Malachi starred off into the distance, looking as if he was sad, but he was not. Malachi was a man happy for what he had, even if it is not much, even if it is not an object in itself. He was happy to have made such friends, he knew them not that well, but still he was happy.

Yaen sat up in his bed and gave a long, sleepy yawn, stretching out his arms and neck. Sliding out of bed, he stretched out again. The Sacaen girded his swords to his hip, hastily threw the covers of the bed back on the matress, and left his little room.
The nomad let out another yawn as he stepped out the door, nearly bumping into Malachi. "Good morning, Sir Knight." he greeted. He looked at Malachi's face, then turned his head in the direction the man had been staring. "I guess they decided to get an early start." he commented.

Wein walked weakly out of the inn, standing next to Malachi. His legs were usable after their trip back, but it still ached to walk. He look at their faces, then followed their gaze off into the distance. "I guess everyone splits up here. Ah well, that's how it works for people like us," he said casually. He rubbed his leg and sighed. "So, when are we heading out?"

Aaron waved farewell to Wyatt and Denzel. They were moving on with their lives, getting back to their duties at the castle. Aaron decided that he too needed to do something. He had heard many things about The Prophet in Etruria. Aaron wondered what the current situation was in the land of the Mages. He had to find something to do to further his skills, but traveling to Etruria was probably a little beyond him just now.
With a quick turn he headed back, towards the inn, where he saw his other companions.

As they parted ways with the last of their comrades Denzel and Wyatt at long last came in view of the castle. It had only been a few days but Denzel was immensely glad to see his home once more. He supposed he was still a child at heart for feeling this way yet still he felt he had grow a little since he had last left this place. Not so much from the fightig that took place, certainly, that too. But it was more then that.
As Denzel and his smith companion passed the city walls where he was saluted by the sentries he thought, fighting and travelling alogside those people, I think I caught a glimpse of what true strength is like.

Wyatt also looked around, the waves and points from the crowd made him a little embarrassed. Had they really done anything that special?
He leaned over to Denzel to whisper. "Are they always like this? I didn't think we did anything really unique..."

'With the situation with Etruria as it, people are always happy with good news. And you have to keep in mind, Laus is located in the middle of Lycia, surrounded by other territories, we really don't get that much bandit trouble.' Denzel said supposing those were the obvious reasons. He wasn't really sure how special a feat they accomplished. Nevertheless the two continued on to the stables where the stablemaster was glad to see the steed that Denzel had taken was returned safe and sound. Wyatt rubbed the back of his head as he realised that his horse was "borrowed" from a villager in the town. He'd have to track him down. "We'll meet up later, okay!" His new friend said as he ran off.
Not been given a chance to reply Denzel merely smiled as he saw the smith disappear out of his view. Turning around, he supposed heshould debrief with Knight-Commander Bernard.

Denzel would advance into the castle, and be told to enter upon knocking at the Knight-Commander's door. Before he could speak his report the Commander spoke.
"Welcome back Sir Denzel. Word of your brave and decisive work has reached us here well before you have. I find it impressive that you could have accomplished such a small feet with so few companions, but that can wait for a time. Were you successful in exterminating the mountain hideout?"

Wyatt came running back to that tavern, praying he'd have caught up with the guys before they left.
Running was hard, though, with the giant pack of smithy supplies he had been gifted by his new 'master' who told him, quite gruffly, that a smith must always be able to carry everything he needs.
Give me a break! There had to be fifty pounds of raw metal in here!
But he had not refused, and he reached the inn quickly enough after he'd gotten the message from Denzel. He threw open the door and saw them all still around a table, looks like he had just made it.
"W-w-wait!" He called, and dropped the pack with a crash as he staggered over to their table. "Hold on...the Marquis...he was...imp-" He struggled to get the message out between catching his breath from the run with the added weight on his shoulders.

Denzel sighed as Wyatt interuppted them. "Okay, now we're really all here. As I was saying the Marquess was impressed with our performance at the Bandit stronghold and wanted me to hire you as mercenaries for a mission vital to the Lycian Alliance..."
"I didn't ask you to report to me just to congradulate you, there's a mission that needs to be carried out and you and your friends might be the only ones that can carry it out while not being recognised as knights in our service." Bernard spoke gravely. Denzel could see in his eyes that he still saw him as a kid and pressured him. "What's the brief, sire?" "We've been receiving reports of Etrurian forces making moves at Laus' and Ostia's borders. I want you to go out and confirm that the rumors are true and if they are, assess the enemies number and their intentions."
The Knight-Commander opened a drawer in his desk and brough out a document. "I have a royal degree signed by the Marquess of Ostia himself so that you may negogiate your way out should you get caught but I'd prefer it if the actions of you and your men remain unnoticed. I have also prepared a carriage to make your travels easier. Here also are the initial fee to hire these freemen that you have met on your mission..."
Denzel had a long day after that, bringing the carriage to the inn at outskirts of town, paying off the secrecy of the inn's owner, then going through the trouble of tracking down Lilith, Wein, Selk Mar, Yaen, Malachi and Aaron and convincing them to help him. The sun was low when Denzel was forced to accept that he wouldn't have time to find Wyatt and still leave toown unnoticed when the sun went down. He had already assembled everyone in the inn for a final explanation when Wyatt, St. Elimene bless him, barged through the door.
"So, are there any questions?" Denzel said, concluding his explanation.
