Aevian pondered on this for a few moments, it wasn't something that she needed to take away all her time with, it was just a simple question with a simple answer, in her mind. Still though, a fair number of them around was a big deal, possibly, especially if many had the same dislike for humans that this Aerious had.
"We're not so different from what I understand, All capable of evil, all capable of good, but I agree, that doesn't make up for the difference. What's done is done in the past. I think the Legendary Heroes did the right thing, who knows, if they hadn't, we could be oppressively ruled or even extinct, had they not rose up."
Aevian licked her lips and looked of to the side, finally slinging her weighty axe into the small noose on her belt, and taking a load off with it out of her hands. Peeking around Rayl, she walked up next to him and looked up.
"Where are we being taken to, anyways?"

The old man began to speak to Rayl in his low inaudible voice, and Rayl turned to the Bernese woman," The leader's house." He wasn't going to continue their conversation as civilians looked on to the pair, as Rayl looked to Aevian's,"Hmmm...might I see that for a second? I've always wondered how it was to use an axe such as this...last time I held one I was chopping wood before I began my training a long time ago." Rayl often referred to himself in a way that he was much older than others, but that was because he felt old: yet he was only twenty-five...

Aevian blinked and then looked suddenly to her axe, and then to the paladin oddly, but shrugging her shoulder, she handed him her axe with the black blade, settling it gently into his hand. once it left her fingertips, she flexed them, and then put her hands down into the pockets of her pants, now being able to without the axe blocking the way of one.
"Young as me? You can't be that much older than me, can you?"
Aevian gave Rayl an amused look, forgetting entirely that they were talking about dragons and heroes. Instead, her mind was focused on how Rayl handled the axe.
"I'm not very good with a sword, so I took to training with the axe. It's often underestimated...which makes it a wonder to use..."

Ray held the weapon awkwardly in his grip. First he tried to hold it like he would his lance, but that proved uncomfortable. Next he tried as if he were holding a sword, but one needed a stronger grip and thus he finally found a comfortable way as he held it steadily, before backing up from the others, and giving it a few practice swings in the air, in a manner as he often saw bandits...this proved to be an odd sight...
...Soon he had to pick himself up from the dust, then eventually returned the weapon grumbling," I'll have to have you teach me how to use one of these things...not too proud of what you have just witnessed." He began thinking of how he could use such a weapon, as they neared the leader's home," Excuse me, but is there a weapon shop or blacksmith in this village?" the old man gave a nod.

Aevian smiled a little bit as she watched, but shook her head, taking her weapon back and gave it a small twirl with her wrist, and then setting it back within it's noose. She had began to speak, but Rayl spoke to the old man first, and decided to keep quiet until he was done.
"You didn't do so bad, but you were swinging it like a brigand would. Most of them put so much power through an entire swing, but can't stop themselves when they do, always leaving them open.."
Aevian began speaking like her teacher had about fighting with an axe. Truthfully, Aevian liked two handed handled weapons, but this was all she could take with her on short notice from Bern.
"It's a lot easier to use then people think, nowhere near as nimble as a sword, but you can certainly use it like one."
Aevian nodded and looked around, thumbing around in her pockets. She had the gold...she could buy another axe just like this one...but she wanted to wait, and think it over some more.

A smile curled at the end of Rayl's lips as she spoke, as he drew his sword," Quite, I've only seen axe wielders amongst those I have had to halt raids such as the one this town witnessed..." holding the nimble fencing blade (as his slim sword was one), he took a few shuffled forward, then backwards. He'd had to learn many things to be an official knight, such as falconry...reading and writing...fencing...the list went on and on, but of all the things he'd learned, it was non-mounted combat that proved to be not only a challenge, but a reward. His hand subconsciously played with the wallet at his side, filled with gold, and even more should he have chosen to sell the glittering azure gem that sat inside it," I could try and teach you to use a blade if you wish, if you will teach me to use an axe. I'm not the best swordsman in the world, but..."
They eventually learned that the leader was still asleep, with Rayl trying to figure out how someone could sleep this late at noon when they had work to do, and thus Rayl headed for the weapons shop, to browse and maybe buy a new lance...or sword...or axe...who knows.

Evayl sighed as she watched the group around her disperse. She'd have liked to squeeze more heals, and therefore more money, out of them, but it seemed today's work was done. She gave Melynagar a pat on her head and fed her a sugar cube. "We did a good job today, girl." Evayl said warmly. Mely gave a whinny in response. Evayl smiled and mounted her horse.
As she rode back into town for the day, Evayl wondered exactly where she would go next. Well, probably still to Ostia, depending on what news she could get tomorrow on the status of the place. She'd heard a few nasty rumors, so it could be anything. Evayl withdrew herself from her thoughts when she saw, upon returning to the village, that several people were staring at something. She urged Mely forward towards the phenomenon, and let out a rather loud gasp when she saw what it was.
Evayl and Mely galloped up to the man she'd seen. The troubadour stared at him for a moment before clearing her throat. "Sir knight!" she squaked, her voice high-pitched and strained. "Um...My name is Evayl, and, please humor a silly girl, but you bear a strong resemblance to..well, are you THE holy knight, Rayl? If you aren't, feel free to ignore me, which you should, but the resemblance is uncanny!" she shouted, failing to control the volume of her voice.

Rayl raised an eyebrow as a woman with hair yellow like a corn field ran up, voice high like many of the girls he'd met back in Pherae, but nevertheless, she asked a question, and thus he must give an answer," Aye, I am Sir Rayl, and you are...Evayl? Yes, I have heard about you." By this he meant that the old man had mumbled her voice amongst other things, but she wouldn't know otherwise...but still, something about the name Evayl was similar, but Rayl, and it was obvious The knight was trying to figure something out.
"What is it you need, my friend?" meanwhile Elibe was just staring blankly at the scenario, snorting in amusement at the excitement of the girl and the obliviousness of it's master and friend.
OOC: Master and Friend in reference to Rayl.

Aevian chuckled a bit at the mentioning of being taught to use a sword, and quite dismissively waved her hand and shook her head. "Oh no no...you best not waste your time on me, once I master the axe, then I'll worry about swordplay.."
Aevian remembered her sword lessons...it felt silly using a rapier at the time..such wussy little pointing sticks. Sighing, she halted almost immediately at the sound of such a loud, girly voice. her head turned and saw the Troubadour rush towards them, and Aevian's red eyes grew large, at fear of being trampled.
"This girl needs a volume control!" Aevian winced a bit at such a high voice, and even began motioning to cover her ears, but stopped, and rolled her eyes. This was just like Wyatt...only...a fangirl...a big one at that...

Evayl's eyes widened dramatically as she struggled to not freak out and throw her arms around her now-found idol. She took a moment to compose herself, inhaling and exhaling calmly before continuing. "What I need is simple." she said, her voice now at its usual soft volume, and no longer a threat to the hearing ability of everyone around her. Evayl reached into a sack that hung off of her saddle and took out a large book, which she handed over to Rayl. "I am a travelling songstress and healer. I have spent a great deal of time writing stories and songs about you, the great holy knight and savior of Elibe. My goal is to aid you in any way possible. So, what I need is for you to allow me to bask in your presence for as long as I am needed."

Rayl paused as he spoke. He never thought himself to be the savior of Elibe. He had only a small part compared to Sir Matis and Kenshin. It had been Matis, himself, and Alan that had struck Hargus down, so if there was any need for credit, it would go mostly to them...
As Rayl was given the book, his hand fell from under the weight, having not expected it to have be heavier than it appeared to be, as he lifted it up and scanned over the cover, and finally realized why her name sounded so familiar as it dawned on him how she was acting.
OOC: Poor oblivious Rayl.
IC: "Madame Evayl, may I inquire as to what your real or full name is?"

Aevian looked towards the two horse riders, and shrugged her shoulders, and decided to step away. She was out of their world for now, and so, Aevian decided to go do her own thing around the village, to kill some time. With a hand still in her pocket, with the other resting atop the broad head of the Axe, she went in behind some of the village buildings, peeking, and snooping around.
She didn't find much, picking up some weapons in her hand, as if studying to see if they were worth keeping or not. Frowning, she tossed the dull, rusty blades down and continued forth, eying the foot prints in the mud and grass. it must have been some battle...bandits were getting more daring recently it would see, attacking settlements such as this in broad daylight..
"What could have been so important here.."

Evayl's eyebrows raised when Rayl asked for her name. "Evangeline Krause." she replied. "Of course, I never go by that anymore. It's so long, nobody would remember it." Evayl let out a sly giggle and flipped her hair. "Besides, my surname matters not. After all, it won't be very long until I have your surname." she said suggestively. "But enough about me. What are you doing here, in such an out-of-the-way village?"

"My Surname?" Wait she was going to change her name to Rayl Krause?
OOC: I know what a surname is, but Rayl is Captain Oblivious.
IC: Again another question, and thus another answer," I have set out from Pherae with my troops, the Golden Lance Division, on a peace mission throughout Lycia: We are to unite and keep The Prophet from Pressing into Laus and the rest of out homes. We have already recieved alliance with Santaruz."
However this did not explain why he was not near Santaruz then," But I am not headed to Bern while my troops continue the rest of the mission here. We need a unified Elibe against this threat." Rayl was letting this Evayl woman in on the plan as he had already figured out she was allying herself with him, and seeing she had that staff of hers, she would prove to be an invaluable companion in these tough times.
OOC: note my joke on using the word companion here.

Aevian continued to walk about the village, but it was so dull for a place that had just been attacked. Most of its people were near Rayl, gawking at him like the heroes of old had come back to allow the villagers to bask in the presence. Aevian kicked a rock across the ground, then walked up to it, bent down, and picked it up only to hurl it away.
Grinning, she tried to amuse herself as best she could while the fangirl and the dense paladin spoke to one another. Aevian had come back a bit closer, close enough to overhear the mention of the girl taking his last name, and began to burst out laughing, only to walk into the smithy and eye some of the axes on the wall, thumbing her chin in wonder...
