I'm not sure if it was intentional, but the black in the hair seems really unnatural, as do the blue spots on his clothing.
Be more definitive about the colors, and then make sure it has shading to it. The black on his cape is just flat.

Thanks for the tips. The black hair was intentional but the blue spots i didn't even realize they were there.

Normally when I do a recolor I think of what color I would like to use, then I look at the whole sheet of character pictures and find one that is close to what I want. I start with the lightest color and use the eye drop tool and then go to the one I'm editing and make the lightest color into the new one. Then repeat for the darker colors.
Also what are you using to recolor?
