The wyvern rumbled and shook as Syana jumped upon it, and when it's back was pierced by the slim sword, it rocked and shook, trying to toss her off, only that the mercenary was already off. The wyvern trampled around wildly, like a crazy animal that had been tormented and backed into a corner. Once it's enemies were at bay, the wyvern peered around as if knowing it couldn't win, hearing the second human come in, and begun to flap it;s powerful wings, as if to take off.
Marle wouldn't allow that, and quickly ran in an d swung her lance wildly as she would a sword, piercing the thin membrane of the lizard's wings with ease, making few vertical slashes along one wing, which dropped it as it was slight airborne back onto it's feet, ripping a blood curdling roar through the air.
However, its assault didn't come for Marle, but for Syana instead, rushing the young woman with teeth bared, spitting up blood from it;s throat which coated it's teeth, and swung a massive clawed paw to bat the mercenary away, but even ten, after it;s swing, it jumped back, hissing defiance at the smaller creatures around it.
Marle recognized this...a fox backed into a corner it couldn't escape for could fight harder than any other kind of animal, if necessary.

The wvyern was growing more vicious as it became more wounded, its blood seemingly fueling its fierceness. It didn't matter, though. The axeman barreling towards the scaly beast was beyond fear. Parry, like a raging bull of anger, all he could see was red. No beast was going to eat his friend and live.
Having covered the distance between himself and the two girls fairly quickly, the older man sprinted up a rock. In one, swift, powerful motion, he crouched, his sinewy muscles compressing like springs, then thrust off of the boulder with his feet, propelling him into the air, straight towards the wyvern's head. "Take THIS!" he shouted, using all the strength in his arms to swing his axe at the rampaging creature. Seeing the man flying at it, the dragon-like beast swiped at the man with it's giant, clawed limb, catching Parry's axe and sending the man to the ground.
No, he would kill this wyvern! He quickly pushed himself to his feet as the wyvern reared it's head back like a snake, reading its bite. Preparing himself for the oncoming attack, Parry wound up his axe like a baseball bat, using the tension in his arms to gather strength. This was it! With a roar, the wyvern's head shot forward like an arrow shot from a bow; mouth open and fangs exposed. In reaction, the axeman let loose a barbaric yell and swung his axe into the lizard's head as hard as he could.
The steel met its mark. With a sickening crunching noise, the giant axe plowed into the wyvern's skull. The beast howled as the weapon lodged itself in the bone, and Parry let go of the handle, lest he get tossed about by the wyvern's flailing neck. Howling and screaming, it thrashed about, striking rocks and waving its limbs and wings uselessly. After raging about, it let out one, final howl, thrusting its neck into the sky, then slammed into the ground, motionless. Dead. Tired but satisfied, Parry fell to his rear. He turned to look at Marle. "Where's Satty?"

Syana was slow to get into a sitting position. The wyvern had left a nasty gash in her arm, which she was putting pressure on to try and stop the bleeding. She leaned back against a rock, her eyes closed. She couldn't help but grimace. Fun, she had called it before. Yeah, a lot of fun it turned out to be. At least the wrapping on her leg had held and she didn't hurt it worse. And her arm could be easily fixed by a decent healer.
The mercenary looked over at the dead wyvern. Parry's feat of strength was impressive. The beast had put up a good fight, but thankfully not good enough. She looked over to Marle, who was nearby. The recruit had really impressed her. She was surprised how good a team the two had made. She smiled again to herself. They might have to stick together for a while.

Marle staggered a little when she watched as Parry took the beast down with the finishing blow. A good amount of her weight as placed on the lance she had at her side like a walking stick, but it held her upright, breathing coolly and in quick succession. She was truly exhausted, physically, mentally not to mention spiritually.
Marle took towards Parry through her blood stained hair and face, having forgotten that the dark crimson covered her armor, parts of her face, not to mention her hair. Licking her lips, she immediately spit from the high iron taste of the blood, and gagged a bit...that taste was something she hadn't noticed much of before either.
"Saturos..? Oh...OH!" Marle's eyes went wide as she picked up her lance and stumbled in a run to where Saturos was leaning against stone, and threw her long weapon away as she fell to her knees, checking the man over, and noticed he had his sword in hand, and began to laugh hard, but she was crying all the same, it was hard to tell what emotion she was feeling.
"You...are such a bastard, ya know?" It was quite obviously a joke, but she sat back on her heels while on her knees and rested a bit. She was tired.

As Marle ran off towards Saturos, Parry sighed with relief, knowing that Saturos hadn't become wyvern food. The man grunted as he pulled himself to his feet, then walked over to the dead wyvern. He patted the beast on the snout. "Sorry it had to end this way," he said, a touch of regret in his voice, "but I can't have you eating my friends." Putting his foot on the winged creature, he grasped the handle of his axe and tugged on it. It was lodged in hard. Taking a deep breath, Parry heaved on the axe, dislodging it, then went to go check on Saturos.
Saturos could only smile weakly at Marle. "I'll have you know...my parents are married," replied Saturos, jokingly, coughing as he did. Wiping a bit of blood off of his mouth, he put a hand on Marle's shoulder. He was more concerned for her safety than he was his own, considering he knew he'd live. "Are you guys alright?"

"Oh yeah, just dandy," Syana answered as she limped over. Still clutching her arm, the bleeding was slowly stopping, she made her way over to the myrmidon and the recruit. She weakly sat down next to them, using her sword as a crutch to lower herself down. She couldn't help but grin at Saturos. "I have to admit, it was pretty cool to use two swords. But next time, I'd kind rather my life not depend on it."

With a small chuckle, Marle shook her head at Saturos' small joke which played on to her words. Grinning, she stood up, and stretched her back, out, tossing off the heavy armor onto the ground, and could feel a sudden chill across her body from the mountain air. The thin silk shirt she wore underneath was cooling quickly, but this cold air was hard to tell at the moment, as the adrenaline was slowly leaving her veins. With the fighting over, it was good to have the weight off of her body, losing a total of around 40 or 50lbs.
Stretching again without the armor off was better, but as she allowed the rest to recuperate, Marle took off for a moment to look around on her own. The Wyvern's nest was here...and if it might have made a habit over the years for stealing people, perhaps there was something she could find. Her leather soled greaves clunked against the rock and granite under her feet, so she was quite audible from even a fair distance.
Now up where the Wyvern was originally, she went into the sort of cave that was near the boulder the wyvern perched upon, she peeked through the large cavernous area, not really seeing anything at first, except for a dead, armor clad body. Moving towards it, Marle knelt beside it, and picked up it's heft triangular shaped shield, and looked it over. Despite a few nicks and dust, it was still rather pristine, just needing a bit of shine.
Smirking, she flung that over her back, and noted it may need a new leather strap, but it would do for now. Also on the body, was a small red gem, well, it was gray, until she ran it against her pants to give it a small shine. Holding it up, Marle peered through it into the light, and nodded, perhaps it would be worth something afterall, and tucked it into her pouch, and resumed looking around while the others rested.

Saturos coughed. "Well, I couldn't see it from here, but I bet it looked pretty cool," he said, looking towards the red-head. "Besides, you're in better shape than I am."
Parry walked up to the injured myrmidon, his axe now strapped to his back, and crossed his arms over his chest. "You gave me a damn good scare, you did," said the older man, a touch of indigence in his voice. "I didn't think the great Saturos was supposed to get all messed up like this." Saturos just laughed. "I can't live up to every title you give me, you old fart," he replied, extending an arm. With a little wave of his fingers, he beckoned the axe fighter closer. "Now give me a hand, will you?" Parry just silently shook his head, grasping his old friend's hand and pulling the swordsman to his feet.
A bit shaky, Saturos stumbled a bit as he tried to regain his balance, but his legs were still weak from the blood loss. "Not sure if I can hunt goats like this," stated the myrmidon. "Nobody's hunting anything anymore," replied Parry. "You're all tired and injured. We're heading back to the village. The hunt's over for us." Saturos comedically stuck out his lower lip. "Aww, but Parry..." "No buts," interrupted the bearded man, grabbing the swordsman by the arm. With a grunt, he foisted Saturos over his shoulders, carrying him like a hunted dear. "Well this is embarrassing," quipped the myrmidon. Parry just chuckled. "You'll get over it. Now come on, let's get moving."

Syana let out a laugh as Parry slung Saturos over his shoulder. "Nice look, Parry. A Saturos scarf really fits you." She gave the myrmidon a playful smile. It was nice to be able to joke around again. Everything had been too serious since the hunt began. And he was right. She did look cool. She smiled again at the thought then looked around for Marle. "Marle! Come on, we're heading out!"

Marle was just beginning to make her way back to the three others, armorless from the belt up, but with a shield that was incredibly big, from her shins to her neck in approximate size, in the shape of an upside down triangle in a manner, with extended tips (You know, traditional knight's shield.). her eyes were staring down at the ground, watching her footing, and when she made her way back, she picked up her armor, as well as her lance.
At the mention of Syana saying they were going, she gave a small shake of her head and looked towards the peaks of the mountains, frowning a little bit at the climb, but moved her eyes back to the rest. Re-attaching her breast plate and shoulders, she dug the butt of her lance into the rocky ground, and leaned upon it comfortably.
"I think...I'll head back to Ilia."
Marle rubbed her head a bit and felt a little bit bad, knowing she should go back to see how Saturos would hold up, but this was probably the best decision, so she wouldn't have to make the climb all over again.
"I think I have learnt enough now, and experienced the hardships I was meant to learn.."
Sighing, she placed a hand to her forehead, and brushed away the hair that covered her eye, so she could look at the rest without the blood stained hair blocking her vision.
"I think it's time for me to finish my training, and become a knight."
Nodding, she gave a small smile, while looking at Syana, Saturos and Parry, studying them closely before setting in the final decision.
"No, I have to, now. I won't be going back with all of you. It's back to Arphen for me."

Saturos nodded. If anyone could understand Marle's feelings, he could. The need to get experience, the desire to strike out for one's own destiny, the journey of solitude: they were all things he himself had done at least once in his life, if not more.
Still slung over Parry's shoulders, the myrmidon looked at Marle. "I get it," he said in a casual voice. "This is what you need to do. I'll just have you know it'll seem a bit lonely heading back to the village without you." He chuckled. "Maybe we'll just tell them you've been eaten." Parry just smiled, shaking his head. "Maybe I'll see you again in the future. Maybe I won't. I travel a lot, so who knows." Slowly, Saturos extended his arm, as limp and weak as it was. A final act of farewell. "You take care of yourself, ok?"

Syana was frowning at Marle. She got why she wanted to leave, but so soon? Plus they were hurt, it didn't make sense. But... It wasn't her call. If Marle wanted to go, she could go. The mercenary looked down, closing her eyes. It felt weird for someone she had just gotten to know so well just leaving. After she finished shaking Saturos' hand, Syana gave her a hug. "Take care of yourself." She took a step back, a sad smile on her face. "You know, you look like a real knight with a shield like that."

Marle gave a few brief chuckles at Saturos' puns, but she nodded especially when he mentioned that she was eaten. Grinning, she took his hand and shook it firmly, taking off her glove so she could truly shake his hand, and brushed at her hair with a free hand. he was truly an interesting person to travel with as she had, it had only been a few days with him, though it felt longer, about a week or so perhaps.
"Hah, maybe saying that I've been eaten is a good thing!"
Once she released his hand, she felt Syana rush in and scoop her smaller stature into a hug, to which Marle gave back warmly, if not a bit tightly. Letting her go, she put her glove back on and gave a wink to Syana as she thumbed the strap that held her shield upon her back.
"I will Syana, I will, don't worry. Don't both of you worry. I'll see you both again, I know that!"
With a graceful bow, and sliding her lance in behind the shield as she would a sword, Marle began walking off t the nearby cliff-face, now on her own. Araphen on the other side of these mountains wasn't too far away. If she rushed and slid down most of the mountain cautiously, she may get they by mid day tomorrow.
Taking a look behind herself, she waved again to the two, and dipped down beyond the hill infront of her, losing sight of them now. Breathing a soft sigh of displeasure, she felt a bit saddened, but she had to keep true on her word at seeing them again, and with that, she began her way up the mountain, and on her way.

Syana waves at Marle as she disappeared over the hill. The mercenary then gave a small sniff and wiped a tear from her cheek. She didn't like goodbyes.
Sighing a little bit and wiping away another tear, she turned away from the hill her friend had just disappeared over. She stared out over the mountains for a few minutes before speaking up, her voice wavering just a tiny bit. "I guess it's time we head back, isn't it?" Even as she said it it felt wrong. We should include Marle. It would just take some getting used to, but for now it was weird.

Watching Marle fade into the distance, Parry turned to Syana and nodded. "Aye, it's best if we go now," he said solemnly. "I've got to get you two back to the village. You're both in pretty bad condition." Parry turned and began walking down the rocks in the direction of the settlement. "I didn't know her well, but she seemed like a nice girl." Saturos just chuckled. "She's doing what she needs to do right now," said the myrmidon. He craned his neck to look at Syana. "You alright?"
