Seeing Marle getting tossed around by the scaled beast, Saturos forced himself to move. They were all dead if he didn't. He jumped behind Syana as she took the full impact of the beasts tail, catching her in his arms. The force of the impact caused him to stumble backwards, falling over, but it was better than having her smashed against the rocks like Marle.
Letting go of the red-headed mercenary, the myrmidon looked towards his axe wielding comrade, who was picking himself up off the ground. The two nodded to each other, then with a simultaneous yell, charged the giant wyvern. The scaled beast took noticed of Parry first, him being the larger target. It swung its tail at the muscled man, who adeptly sidestepped the trunk-like appendage and kept charging. The wyvern was just as persistent, however, and spun around, smashing into the man with its head. As strong as Parry was, this wyvern was huge, and even he was sent sprawling to the ground.
An opening had appeared, and Saturos was going to take it. By using its head, the wyvern had exposed its neck. Still running, Saturos lifted his sword above his head, preparing to bring it down upon the creature with all his might. It wasn't stylish, sure, but now wasn't the time for style.
Unfortunately, Saturos underestimated the wyvern's speed. Before the myrmidon could land his finishing blow, the winged monster twisted its neck and lashed out at Saturos, jaws open. Before Saturos had time to dive out of the way, he could feel the beast's jaws snap shut around him. The crushing force was stifling, and the pain of the blade-like teeth sinking into him was crippling. Stunned, Saturos felt himself whipped into the air as the wyvern lashed its neck backwards, dropping his sword as he was wrenched off of the ground.
Having incapacitated three of its attackers and holding the fourth in its mouth, the giant wyvern growled and took flight, its powerful wings thrusting it into the air. Saturos could only hang limp as the great beast took him away. Seeing the dragon retreating with his friend in its mouth, Parry bounded to his feet, gripping his axe with a passion. The man bull rushed the wyvern, swinging his axe as he did, but it was too late: the beast was already out of reach.
"SATTY!" roared Parry. Not taking a second to check on either of the girls, Parry darted off into the foothills, running almost inhumanly fast for a man his age and size. He quickly disappeared into the brush, leaving Marle and Syana behind.

Marle had begun to get up, and almost instantly regretted the motions she took. her head felt like a large hammer had been wailing on it for hours, despite it just having been moments after the Wyvern took off. Her eyes opened groggily, and peered around with squinted eyes. There was nothing there...it was so quiet. Slowly, she began to stand up, and could see the dark shadow in the sky, of the beast making its way off.
Marle slumped again, as she picked herself up until she stood uneasily on her feet, and peered around, trying to get her bearings. There was no one around it would seem, until she landed her eyes on Syana and then tried to rush over to the older girl, leaving her lance on the ground as she went to attend her friend.
"Syana!"
The words came out in a slurred voice which Marle hardly believed to be her own. Once she reached Syana, Marle tried to pull her up against her. If the mercenary was as rattled as she was, she'd appreciate it. Lightly, she shook her, knowing her to be alive.
"Come on...Saturos and Parry aren't here...we gotta get moving and search for them.."

Syana leaned heavily on Marle as she weakly got to her feet. Her head was killing her, but she was alive. She used a good deal of her might to lift up her sword, which she then used to lean on. "M-Marle... Saturos..." She was able to finally get out. Unlike the recruit, Syana had been less shaken due to Saturos catching her.
She took a deep breath, trying to regain her head before she spoke again. It was tough to speak, but she did her best. "Saturos attacked... Wyvern bit him... Flew away... Parry chased... We gotta go..." She took a step when a searing pain shot up her leg; she fought the urge to yell out. Stupid leg. She'd worry about it later. Right now, she had to find that wyvern and get Saturos back.

Marle gave a small nod to Syana. She knew. She, while being dazed out of her mind, had still heard everything going on, and even seen a little bit of it. Her head was really killing her, and seriously put forward a thought of adopting the use of a helmet at some point...not that it would have made a difference.
Now that Syana was on her feet, Marle, too, rose up unsteadily, and pointed towards where she had last seen the wyvern go. Using her lance as a crutch, she motioned for Syana to follow.
"Come on, we gotta move quickly, do you think you'll be okay?"
Marle looked at Syana's foot and nodded, knowing that she was favoring her other leg by the way she stood...maybe that spar was a bad idea afterall.
"If you don't think you can go on, turn back, and I'll get Saturos...but if you're gonna be stubborn, well, I might have to carry you at that point huh?"
Marle gave a cracking laugh as she then broke into a cough.

Syana shook her head. "Don't worry about me... I'll be fine." She gave a resilient grin. "It's just a broken bone or two. Besides, Saturos needs us. There's no way I'm going back." She paused. "And from the sound of that cough, you don't seem to be so good either. So I guess we both have the odds against us. And that's when I do my best work." She added with a wink. "Let's do this." She walked forward, wincing as she walked. After a few steps, she stopped wincing all together.

Marle was still quite winded, but her armor with it's stupid amount of padding is what saved her lback from being crushed by hitting the stone. She stood up and took a deep breath, before smirking at Syana, and turning her head back to the mountain path, where she believed the Wyvern had headed...back towards Ilia..
"You're a gambler, aren't you? Hah! lets see if our luck holds out...we'll need it."
Marle began her movement as she walked briskly, there was little time to spare. if Saturos was carried off in the mouth of the Wyvern, his body would be pierced with teeth...and that is a big thing.
Stopping, Marle ran back and picked up Saturos' sword, and tossed it into the loop of her belt, before moving ahead once more. The mountain was going to be the biggest obsticale to take care of.

Syana grinned at Marle again. "Every merc has to be a gambler on some level. Will a job work out? Will the guards be lazy? Will the reward really be worth it?" She shook her head. "This will work out. It has to, for all of our sakes."
She didn't even wanna imagine what Saturos was going through right now. She refused to let those thoughts in, because they would be too painful to think about. She kept her thoughts focused on them saving him. And they would.

Marle gave a small nod her mercenary companion as they set off. The trail wound downwards towards the base of the mountain, but would rise again later. it was easily the safest path for the two of them to take...atleast, that's how it looked. Marle hadn't bothered to clean the wyverns blood from her blade, letting it serve as a remind to do what she must...this time, her strikes will be more accurate, more laid out...more deadly.
Now and then, Marle checked back on Syana, seeing how she was doing as she took point and lead. She had never been on these mountains before save a few days ago, and that was only coming down...but if the Wyvern was more in towards Ilia now...she wondered how everything would end up...
"It's going to be a long walk...I think...tell me about yourself, Syana, why did you want to become a mercenary?"

"Well..." Syana started, "My whole family are mercenaries. My father and mother met on a job. My four brothers," she gave the recruit an exasperated look that showed growing up with 4 brothers was a chore, "all became fairly well known as well. When I was younger, I couldn't wait until I could leave to start my own journey. I left a few years ago now and haven't looked back since." She closed her eyes. It had been too log since she was home. And her brother, did he make it? Was he ok? She sighed and opened again. "So what about you? Just decided to thrown on armor one day?"

Marle gave a small groan at the question, but she nodded all the same, it was true afterall.Digging the butt of her lance into the ground, Marle pushed across the rocky terrain, as the path began to narrow, and it was clear only goats had used this path now, the way it was all packed down, and not too wide. She felt like she was about to slip here.
"Pretty much, yes. I was one of the oldest recruits around. I joined mostly to get rid of my obligation of arranged marriage to a man I didn't know, or love." Marle shrugged and looked at her dented and worn breastplate and shoulders. "I always wanted to be a knight though...also, that, and I sucked as a Pegasus Knight...I can't ride to save my life...so I stayed on the ground as a knight, and donned the heavy armor."
Marle stopped for a second and looked around for a moment, grabbing her lance at the ready as she heard footsteps. Peeking around the corner was a small goat and it's mother, she guessed, and then proceeded to move onwards.
"I wouldn't have wanted it any other way....there's something truely honourable being a knight...to me, they're always a symbol of true strength, of body and virtues."

Syana gave a low whistle. "Arranged marriage, huh? I can see why you'd wanna get out of that." She slipped a little bit, and a gasp escaped her lips as she landed on her hurt leg. She growled at it. "Dumb leg..." She was quiet for a few seconds as she tried to overcome the pain before she spoke again. "If it makes you feel better, all the knights I've met so far have been honorable."

Marle flashed a small smile back to Syana, glad to have someone who understood...as she should, she was Ilian too, afterall. As she did so, she noticed the older woman take a slip, and winced, only able to imagine the pain the girl must have felt. Stopping she moved back towards her and held out her hand covered in light plate gloves.
"Come on, not to hurt your pride, but if you're going to be with me for this, I'll need you able to move at the very end. Give me your arm, and I'll brace you against me to take the weight off your leg."
Giving a small shake with her head, eager for Syana to take it, she flashed a dry smile over her thin lips. Her actions belied her urgency...she wanted to find Saturos as soon as possible, the man had grown on her afterall, it'd be a shame if he perished so soon.

Syana finally gave in and wrapped her arm around Marle to help with her balance. She had to admit that it was much easier to walk this way. She wanted to find Saturos quickly, she wasn't sure how long he could survive in the jaw of a wyvern. She tried to limp along faster, hoping to get there sooner. "Thanks for this, by the way..."

Marle gave a small grin towards Syana as she wrapped her arm around the woman, holding her tightly as they then began to move, turning her head to look at the blue eyes of the mercenary, and pulled a mischievous smirk out of that grin. Previously, Marle didn't even think anything of it, but a small nod dipped down.
"Think nothing of it. You'd probably just raise a fuss if I left you behind...though...the real trouble now lies ahead of us.."
Marle motioned with her spear to the large mountain line that went up. As far as she could see, she could not find a cave anywhere, so the Wyvern may have probably been further north, no the Ilian side of the mountains.
An hour passed as the slow movement towards the mountains progressed until they stopped. Marle had lead Syana in arm to the least steep path through the mountains she could find, which didn't say much. There really weren't many paths through Eturia to Ilia, there were a few roads, yes, but they were tough roads...but there were no roads here...the closest one was leagues away...this just seemed the safest for Syana.
Letting go of Syana, Marle strapped her lance across her back, and turned back to the mercenary, giving her a flat, determined look.
"I can't carry you up the mountain...there will be a lot of climbing ahead of us...I've cross this already...but who knows what we'll find...if we will find anything at all...at any point, the Wyvern could have turned away once it was out of my sight...can you climb with that bad leg of yours?"

As they had walked, Syana tried not to focus on her leg. The more she thought about it, the more it hurt, so she tried to push it from her mind. She resolved that when they finally stopped for a few she'd try to wrap it up.
When they stopped, she did just that. It probably wasn't as professional as Saturos', but it would do the job for a while. She then stood and nodded. "I'll be fine." She gave a little smile. "But I do no know the way. Will you take the lead?"
