Name: Kessel
Class: Wyvern Rider > Wyvern Lord
Hair Color: Light Brown (kinda orangey)
Eye Color: Blue-Gray
Age: 19
Appearance: Kessel is a little over 6' tall, with broad shoulders, and weighs around 195 lbs (without armor). Combined with his aristocratic face he's the picture of a lord's son.
Clothes: Purple-gray tunic and black pants tucked into brown boots with a gray sash underneath green armor with gray highlights.
Born in: Bern
Story: Kessel, while he may have the looks of an aristocrat, isn't one. No, he was merely the son of a well to do merchant. When he began to come of age, his father tried to train him to take over the merchant trains, but realized that it wasn't meant to be. From there, Kessel's father began exposing his son to as many different aspects of life as possible to figure out which was most suited for the boy, soon to be young man, to learn.
Farming? No interest in planting and growing. Various crafts, such as blacksmithing, leatherworking, carpenter, tailor? No to all, to boring and humdrum. Politics? ...shudder... best not to go there.
Kessel's father was beginning to worry. His son had no interest in anything shown to him. The only thing left to show Kessel was the military, and, while his father respected the military, he was reluctant to offer the choice. Why? His wife. While she understood that the military helped people, and protected them from bandits, there was no way she was going to let her son, her baby, do something dangerous like that. Regardless though, it seemed to be the only choice left.
The now young man and his father visited a military outpost near one of the towns they regularly stopped at on their trade route. Unfortunately for the father, Kessel still seemed to show little interest. It was maddening!
As his father began leading him away from the outpost, Kessel heard a muted sound - fwump fwump*. He started to look around, only to have to cover his eyes when a gust of wind kicked up a dust cloud. When he opened his eyes, there, right in front of him, was a real live Wyvern! Now it's not like he had never seen one before. He had seen pictures and even saw one flying by at a distance. But now... He was blown away by the beast. Powerful, sleek, graceful. He was overawed by this beast in the flesh and no more than a few yards away.
Kessel's father had seen the wyvern rider coming toward the outpost, probably to deliver a message or some such task. He had seen them in use before, so it was no big surprise when it landed near him and his son. He turned to his son, ready to take him back to the merchant train, only to stop upon seeing his son's gaze. "Finally!" he all but yelled in his head. Oh, his wife wasn't going to like it, that's for sure, but if his son was even half as passionate as he looked about this, he was sure they could convince her.
His father ended up leading him, still in a daze, back to the merchant train, where they confronted his mother. After about 2 hours of arguing back and forth (and much crying over her baby), Kessel's mother finally gave in.
The next day, Kessel signed up with the military and spent the next 3 years working his way toward being a Wyvern Rider.
