OoC: Sorry about my sudden absence. School and play practice have been keeping me occupied for awhile. Hopefully I won't be so busy now.
IC: A large group of men had arrived at the camp, led by Sabin. Cebrail left his recruitment up to Reylan. He was worried about Balthier's scouting mission. They had yet to receive word from the mage or their other companions.
He walked over to the dining tent and started helping the cook peel the potatoes. He hoped to distract himself and get his mind away from their scouts. He was peeling each and every potato with attention that they didn't deserve. But he was keeping himself occupied. I hope you guys are alri- GAH
He looked down at his hand. He had cut the palm of his left hand. He wasn't exactly sure how. Sighing, he left the dining tent and went looking for a bandage. It wasn't a deep cut, but it was rather wide. He didn't want to trouble a cleric with his minor wound. After a few minutes of searching, he finally found a bandage and wrapped his hand.
Entering his tent, he sat down on the bed and tried to write....something.

Morning came quickly for Reylan. He had barely slept that night, and being woken up by Sabin didn't help much, either. Groggily, he told the men that Sabin had handpicked from his crew to make themselves comfortable, then collapsed onto his makeshift mattress once again. It had been two days since Balthier embarked on his mission, and needless to say, Reylan was concerned about the welfare of each member.
In particular, he was worried about Bridget. The young thief could easily handle herself, but a thorn still twisted in Reylan's side. It was a knight's duty to protect their allies, even if they haven't spoken for long. The thought of something fatal happening to her tormented the cavalier's mind. Yet, he knew very well that she wasn't someone who needed to be protected. Plus, she was under Balthier's command. That mage surely had a sense of cunning flowing in his veins.
Closing his eyes, Reylan attempted to unshackle his mind from the chains of grief. His act was in vain, however. Cursing quietly to himself, he took out a quill and a piece of parchment from his pack, praying that no one would barge in on him.

He crumpled the parchment and tossed it aside. He didn't know what to write anymore. The muses used to sing and provide him with a voice, but now he couldn't write anything. It all came easily before, the flow from one word to the next. His hand refused to write.
He got up and started walking around. Everyone was in a happy mood. They were laughing, dancing, making music, singing songs.
"Captain Cebrail! Over here!" A small group of soldiers were huddled together around a small table.
"Captain?" Cebrail looked quizzically. The men nodded and waved their hands to call him over.
"The war council members told us that you, Reylan and Balthier are our new commanding officers. So in honor of your recent promotion, how about a quick game?" The young soldier held his hands over the table, showing the two mugs and shots glasses.
"Alright then, what're we doing? Gambling?" Cebrail sat down on the other side of the small table and looked at the glasses.
"Yup. 10 gold pieces that I can finish these to mugs before you can finish those two shot glasses." Another soldier quickly filled them up as the man pushed the shots to Cebrail and the others towards himself.
"Interesting....what are the rules?" Cebrail was scratching his chin in confusion. Was that possible that this soldier could drink two...pints before he could finish the two shots?
"Well, you can' touch my glasses and I can't touch yours. That way you can't knock down one of my glasses and say I have to drink if off the floor ya know?" Cebrail nodded in understanding, still slightly confused about this endeavor. "And just to be fair, you have to let me finish my first pint alright?" Again, Cebrail nodded.
The two put their gold on the center of the table and the soldier began to drink. Cebrail readied his hand and once the soldier finished, he took up the first shot. The soldier quickly turned over his glass and covered the second shot.
"You can't touch my glass and now you can't touch yours." The soldier smiled and took the gold off of the table. Cebrail laughed and stared at the soldier.
"How about a different gamble? Give me a chance to earn my gold back." The hustling soldier smiled and nodded. "Good. A quick match. First to a killing blow." Cebrail stood up and picked up a blunt lance.

Reylan sat quietly in his tent, his mind still streaming. He decided to lay down on his bed.
Closing his eyes, he dove deep into his thoughts once again, eventually falling asleep, even in the middle of the daytime. Although the rain had ceased somewhat, the remaining drizzle soothe Reylan's ears.

Sabin decided to take the stroll around the place and look at the terrain. Anything he could use for his advantage would be vital should any attack come upon them.
The camp was mainly surrounded by trees, but their lied a tree clear path behind from the rear, the path they used to get to here from Badon. If they went further south, they could see a river running beside this path,to the left, while the right side was a thick forest. This could be an extremely useful advantage in taking their enemies apart,if they were on the defensive.
Although this army was quite skilled, Sabin doubted whether they'd know a bit about terrain battling. The soldiers were usually in battles with plain terrain, and most of them seemed to be a bit new to battle. Maybe Sabin was wrong, but he couldnt be too sure until he saw some skill for himself.
" Huh,huh! Looks like I'm going to try for a bet. These guys migt as well need training."
Sabin saw a thick, strong armed sword fighter." Heh, might as well get a challenge. Swords have advantage over axes, but can heuse this to his advantage?" Sabin thought.
" Hey you! Want a quick spar?"
" Hell yeah. You're full of yousrself for beating a wimp, are'nt ya? Well I'll show you what a real warrior is!"
" Ok, we shall battle, but under my rules. I dont want a spar in the middle of this camp. We shall enter a bit into the forest, where we shall duel!"
Saying so, the two left for their spar.

Reylan's eyes snapped open. The rain had stopped, and apparently the sun was setting. The young knight chose not to emerge from his tent, even though it was a beautiful afternoon. Sighing, he sat up, still feeling drowsy.
He had dreamed about something, but he could not recall exactly what. Vexing his brain, Reylan began to think.
There was a woman in that dream... she had green hair... could she possibly be? No. I've never met her. I've never even seen her face.
Reylan felt a loose breath escape from his lips. He felt his body shiver as the realization of who he was dreaming about hit him like a sack of potatoes. She had died when Reylan was in his first day of life.
Mother...

Selibas sat up from getting his drink. He thought of ways to contribute to the problems. What was this scouting mission? But still how could he help. Maybe a nap could help. So he hitched Lightning to a post and layed down in his tent for once.
Selibas didn't enjoy tents very much but lightning and trees weren't a good match he layed down on his bed and went to sleep. He dreamt of his Father. It was a good dream a dream of eventually getting to Nabata and finding the soldier who had contacted his informant with word of this man Cinderfelt. Then striking down the man who had abandoned him and gotten his mother to.
Selibas was very deep in hi sleep he didn't notice the three dark figures walk into his tent. One was dressed in green, one blue, the other red. The blue and green men cast two separate spells. The man in blue cast a spell of light numbing the pain from Selibas' body. The man in green cast a spell sending him into a sleep he couldn't awaken from no matter what.
The man in red pulled a metal rod attached to a red hot symbol. It was a diamond with a line through the center of each side of the diamond. He pressed it against Selibas' neck were the top of his back met the bottom of his neck. He the put the same mark on the armor of Selibas' left shoulder. without a word the men left the tent. The green one placing a letter on the edge of Selibas' bed (releasing his spell allowing Selibas to wake up later) as he left.
Mere minutes after the Men had left the camp unseen Selibas woke up. Even with the mans magic the pain in his neck was almost enough to make Selibas black out. He couldn't see the Emblem imprinted on his back but he did see a note at the bottom of his bed.
Dear Warrior, You have been selected as a recruit for the Syndicate. you are headed to Nabata some time soon you may not know when but it will happen. While there we will contact you. All will be explained when you arrive. Do not run from us Warrior. You cannot run from fate.
May the Rain Bring Beauty Grey
At the bottom of the paper there was a strange symbol Selibas realized was on his shoulder guard. Selibas didn't understand what was going on but he knew it had something to do with the pain on his back.

OoC: Seeing as this thread is pretty much comatose, I'm going to drop out of it. I'm likely going to create a new one, probably further out in Lycia. You all can opt to continue this thread or drop it entirely. It's up to you.
IC:
Reylan laid on his makeshift cot, the scent of rain-drenched grass wafting in through the tent flaps. He could hear the soldiers outside, still deadlocked in their spar.
Although the young knight was blessed to have such valuable comrades, a small figment of unease still remained in his mind. How were Balthier and the others faring in their scouting mission? And who was the woman he had dreamed about? These questions were presently impossible to answer.
But one thing was certain: the stress of being commander was almost unbearable. A weak sigh escaped from his lips as he made his final decision. Perhaps leaving his comrades behind temporarily was the prime choice, at least for now.
Moving into a semi-crouching position, Reylan retrieved his armor. He silently began putting it on, taking care to not raise suspicion. After the metal plates were securely applied, the green-haired knight promptly cut a hole in the back of his tent with the point of his iron lance, and quickly squeezed through the gap.
Reylan wasted no time in mounting his horse, which was cleverly hidden behind a cluster of large maple trees. With a flick of the reins, his horse sprung forward, trampling the forest floor underneath its hooves. Within minutes, he was out of sight.

Sabin finished his spar with the man who challenged him, and sent him back to the camp. Terrain battling- he was clever at using terrain to his advantage.
And then, he heard the sound of a horse, galloping. To his right he saw the horse galloping forward, away.... and he caught a gimpse of Reylan.
"Heh, running off somewhere, knight? Do not worry, I'm following you until I get my wages." saying so, Sabin followed the knight. It was too fast however, and Sabin lost sight of the horse. One thing was certain- it would lead a path to Pherae. Sabin still had not gotten the contract signed, so if he was going to Pherae, he'd be getting huge oppurtunities. But this meant he had to leave behind his mates... but he had to do so. He felt thrilled, like a new adventure waited for him.
