"I see what you mean, Sir Inigo, and Roland. Ship could be faster, but we may not want to take our chances. The East route certainly seems much quicker." he replied.
And then, just out of the blue, Inigo just gave Sabin a comb and said,"Now even out that bush under your chin, you look like a goddamn pirate mutt more than you do a mercenary."
Pirate mutt? This guy sure came close to Sabin's true identity. Hopefully, if they found out, the others wouldn't try to harm him. He wasn't a normal pirate now, he could hardly call himself one.
"Uh, sure Sir Inigo." Sabin replied, he looked a bit red now.
"Well Aaron, what do you think?" he asked the mage, still combing his beard.

"Heheh! I told you so, Binnie...", Jade answered smugly, giggling and moving along with Aaron on his horse. It felt like a long time since Jade had had this type of fun, a long time since he had joked around with the helpers at home, or with his parents... He had started to miss those days, hoping to be able to joke with someone again... Jade hoped that Binnie wouldn't leave and that he could have fun like that again.

Saddling up onto his horse, he waved a hand dismissively to the other people, although not ENTIRELY meant as a rude gesture," I'll take up the rear. Gwenie, would you like a ride? You can tell me a bit more about what's happened to you since I last saw you." he extended a gloved hand out to the young girl, his smile tweaking the ends of his moustache as if it too were beaming. When he wasn't expecting them to being spies, Inigo was a real SUCKER for children, his own, his godchildren ( who only one, Guinevere), and just children in general.

"It's war down there, I don't think they have the time to second guess a troupe of circus performers arriving by ship as long as all our paperwork checks out... We do have the proper paperwork, right?" Aaron heard the mercenary's comment, and replied to it, while other things went on around them.
"Roland, as far as I know, we have nothing, and we're not likely to get anything. Nothing authentic, anyway, as a paper trail leading back to Lycia would be a problem. You're probably right about us being able to get through though." If he was an Illian official, Aaron would do everything in his ability to keep people he didn't know from entering. They had an entire country, Illia, sending aid, so blockading the land would probably prove more difficult for the rebels than anyone else. Everyone here seemed to think they'd be allowed to waltz right in though. Maybe they were right, and he was just being overly cautious, but they could, instead, be stopped, and sent home, or worse, imprisoned. Aaron didn't really want to ride along with a group that took no thought to matters like this. So he spoke up about his concerns.
"Look. Illia has no reason to let us in, and several to keep us out. If we get in, we may turn out to be spies, or even saboteurs to their cause. They'll be suspicious of any outlanders coming into their lands. We may have to be prepared to slip through their borders. If we are caught doing so, we'll almost certainly be marked as rebels, and hanged, unless they manage to identify some of our higher born members, who will probably be held for ransom. Last of all, if any suspicion is taken of us, at all, it will show them that the lands around are sending spies into the land, which they'll already expect,... but we'll be there proof."
Aaron took a deep breath after his long winded list. "I can't help but feel that some of you haven't thought about just how dangerous this task will be. That being said, following Rayl so closely could cast suspicion on us. Sir Rayl is traveling as a diplomat, and I doubt he'll be stopped."
"We might be though." was the unspoken finish of what Aaron was saying. "My vote is for traveling by ship. With the right Captain, we could land at any port, or set ashore anywhere along the Bernese coast."
With all these thoughts and words whirling through the mage's mind, he completely missed Sabin's question. You could practically see in his eyes that his mind had started cranking, pulling up possible obstacles, methods to deal with trouble, other worries, and more contingencies.

Grayson was taken aback when Inigo blatantly ignored his introduction. However, before he could get a crass word in, the conversations flew off like a dozen birds eager to make it south for the winter. There was talk of contracts and childhood and eventually they argued over what was the best route to take to Bern. Grayson simply stood annoyed by the fact that no one bothered asking what he thought. He didn't have an opinion edgewise, but it would have been nice to be asked.
Arms crossed and foot tapping, Grayson awaited a point in the conversation to interject. It seemed they were to travel by sea. Suddenly, his face changed from an eye brow raised look of frustration to a look of joy and excitement. He jumped over to Aaron on the horse, "I've never been to the sea before! That sounds exciting! We should do that!"
Visions of pirates and sea monsters filled his head. He grew more and more enthralled by the idea as scenario after scenario played in his head.

Guinevere smiled and took Inigo's hand up, setting herself on the back of his horse. "And you can tell me all about what's happened back home since I left." She hadn't been on a horse since riding back with Rayl, which of course brought thoughts of the paladin. She quickly snapped herself out of it, though. There would be plenty of time for that later; they had a job to do now. She listened to Aaron speak and had to admit he had some valid points. She did have one concern, though. "I get seasick, but if it's agreed the best way to go is by boat, I'll do my best ro get over it..."

"Roland, as far as I know, we have nothing, and we're not likely to get anything. Nothing authentic, anyway, as a paper trail leading back to Lycia would be a problem. You're probably right about us being able to get through though." The green haired mage, whom Roland realized was 'aaron' by process of elimination. The fact Sabin just referenced him directly helped too. With a sharp roll of the eyes in the stuffy noble parade that was going on over there with the stuffed shirt fool Inigo and his precious little Gwenie, he retreated into his thoughts. His brain flexing, doing backflips and aerobics to create answers and solutions to problems that faced them.
"Well Aaron, that makes things a tad bit more difficult. I was under the impression we had forged documents, but I suppose I shouldn't of assumed anything since this was a plan that popped up on the fly..." Besides, none of these men had the look of someone who'd do such a thing. Sabin would probably just barge in. "Still completely doable if we are smart about it, and we're a bunch of clever men and a clever lady, so I doubt that's going to be an issue." He thought a bit more to his self.
"With the state of Bern, and Ilian occupation with the rumored Bernese uprisings, things will be very chaotic. So there will either be incredibly dense security, or incredible vapid security. It depends what port we try, logically the closer to Bern's capital and trade cities the heavier the security will be." Heavy security because Ilia will want to shoot down potential Bernese rebel ships, light security because they are spread way too thin with all that is happening. "If we grease the wheels a little and play this smart we can get in no problem." By greasing the wheels, obviously he means bribes. It's a dirty thing, but deviously effective. These soldiers may have little to no morale, make them feel important and give them some gold and they become putty. He knew that from first hand experience, he's taken more then one bribe in his lifetime. Sometimes all it takes is some kindness and compliments to win over a guard's favor, especially in times like this when everyone is busy hating each other.
Roland smirked. "Oh well. We'll get to it when it happens."

OoC: Due to permission granted, and the fact that we shouldn't leave him behind, I'll be making use of Gabriel in this post, and possibly others to come, until he returns. Hopefully, I won't say or do anything detrimental to his character. Come to think of it, the smaller I keep his part, the less chance of messing it up....
BiC:
Aaron listened as Roland figured they'd be able to make it in. "Hopefully, we won't end up meeting the one and only customs agent with enough integrity to refuse a bribe."
"I think it's the best way too." Gabriel said speaking up. "Going by sea may be a longer trip, but it will be safer than following right behind Rayl's party. Also, if we land somewhere with less of an Illian presence, we may be able to get a better feel for the land."
"I'm sorry, Lady." Aaron said, speaking over to Gwen, who he still had managed to evade learning the name of. "It looks like the ocean is our road." Deep down, Aaron feared that he too would be seasick. He also was considering the risk of sea serpents. He'd never heard any reliable reports in his lifetime, but surely, all those old legends had a grain of truth to them.
Let's go get a ship. The mage thought to himself, as he started his ride towards the port town of Badon.
