A convoy was attacked by a group of soldiers, both sides was fighting furiously. One side was Ilia soldiers, they protected their supply wagon from the attackers, the loyal Bern soldiers. They were called rebels by people, but actually they were loyal servants of Bern who dared to sacrifice their life to get rid Ilian from their beloved country.
The Ilian commander understood that his troops was surrounded by the enemies, but he had duty to protect the wagons. He ordered the soldiers to fight bravely, they fought like an injured animal. But the difference of number couldn't lie, slowly but surely, they was defeated. They would have better chance in this battle if their pegasus riders weren't defeated by the wyvern riders led by a man with X scar on his face. The Bern soldiers ambushed them when they passes a cliff, a quick attack that didn't let the enemies to regroup.
After a long and hard fight, they surrendered. The Bern soldiers surprisingly spared them and just took their food supplies. They left to their hidden base after that. The rebel base was in mountain depth, hidden and protected by the mountain itself.
"Yoo, Max!" A soldier approached to greet Max when the wyvern rider landed and hopped down from his wyvern. "Hey, we catch a big fish today. Look at those foods, we have enough food for 6 months or so." Max answered his greeting with a smile. "Yeah, tell the soldiers to rest. We will attack another one tomorrow."
The two walked down the stairs and arrived in a big room with many tables and chairs. The soldiers rest here, drinking beer, chatting, or playing cards. Max and his friend chose the table near a big barrel. Soon, a woman gave them two bottles and two glasses then left them with a nod. Max poured the beer into his glass and drank it in one gulp.

Max couldn't sleep, he decided to check their armory. He could see a lot of weapons and armors inside as soon as he opened the door. Unfortunately, most of them was already old and rusty. He should tell the commander about this, this kind of weapon wouldn't be much help in battlefield. Few talented blacksmiths worked for them and always repaired their weapon, they just needed to tell them to work. After he finished, he told the guard to lock the door.
Max walked towards the training field where they usually trained young soldiers who just joined the rebel troops. He looked at the empty field, of course, who would train at this time? He walked to the center, the wyvern rider smiled as he remembered about the time when he was just a young and naive Squire. "Aah, my foolish youth." He chuckled at himself.
He wondered how long they had to fight Ilian, how long until they successfully freed their country? He might choose a wrong choice when he decided to take part in battle once again, he could be staying with his lovely wife and his newborn son in the mountain now if he chose that option. Yeah, but he couldn't change it now, he and his friends, fellow ex-Bern soldiers, had a duty to rid Ilia from their country.
"So another people beside me can't sleep this night?" Max turned to the voice and saw the commander walking towards him. "Commander, you too?" He gave him a small nod. The commander, Graham Alteron, was a veteran soldier, he already retired from military but decided to raise weapon once again and gather the rebel force when Ilia took over Bern. The commander looked wise and reliable, the rebel troops could survive until now because of his smart tactics and wise decisions. "Haha, his old man is busy as always." Patting Max's shoulder, he looked at the wyvern rider. He could see strength in his eyes.
"Say Max, do you believe we have a chance to win?" That sudden question took Max's interest. Actually he was wondering about that himself. "We do have it." Graham smiled at his answer and gulped beer from his bottle,he offered it to the guy beside him but Max refused. "Yeah, we have it. But you must already know that we will never do it with this small number, am I right, Max?" Max nodded, everyone in this base understood the fact that they were no more than a ant for Ilia. The commander gulped his beer again and then threw the empty bottle to the side. "That's why I have an important mission for you. I always watch you in battle, you are a good fighter but also a smart one, lad." Important mission? Max wondered what it was, and why did Graham choose him to do it? He was a new member in this troops.
"Come to my office tomorrow morning. I will tell you everything there." Graham left Max and headed to his room. The wyvern rider was watching his back with that confused look.

It was morning already, the bright morning sun woke Max with its warm sunlight. The wyvern rider yawned before forcing himself to sit on the bed with that sleepy face of him. He didn't have enough sleep and his eyes was barely open. He stood up lazily and stretched his arms.
After taking a bath for fifteen minutes or so, he came back to his room and stood in front of mirror, fixing his messy wild hair. Then he noticed his scar which made him smile. This scar was a proof that he still lived, a proof that he had escaped death once, and also something that made him meet with his wife. He was about to touch it when someone knocked the door. "Come in." He turned the door and saw it slowly opened. A young soldier entered and looked at Max who was much older than him. Showing his respect towards him, the young soldier bowed, then he raised his head and started talking. "Captain Graham was looking for you, Sir." Max forgot that he was summoned by Captain Graham. With a sigh, he raised a hand towards the young soldier and gave him a sign to leave the room.
After he wore his armor, Max started to walk towards Captain's room. Hopefully, the captain was in his good mood and didn't get angry because he was late. He had to pass the training field to get there. On his way, he saw young soldier was training. He remembered the days when he was just a young inexperienced Squire. Chuckling, he continued walking until he arrived.
"Captain, it is Max." He knocked the wooden door and waited for response. Soon, an old man voice could be heard from inside and told him to open the door. He followed the order and opened it slowly, then he saw Captain Graham was sitting behind his desk and drinking a cup of coffee. "Forgive me for being late, Captain. I was overslept." Graham placed his cup on the table and turned his attention towards him. "It is okay, Max. And because you have been here, I will give you a new order."
"I am sure you know we are not the only one fighting to free Bern, some other groups already started rebellion even before we started ours. The only problem is we hadn't made any contact with them. We might have more manpower if we tried it since the beginning." The old commander was looking outside the window while Max listened to him. "So, Max. Maybe it is the time to meet them, but I can't go personally. Being a leader for our troops really give me enough paperworks to kill this old man. That is why I summoned you here." Max could guess where this conversation going to as Graham walked towards him. The old soldiers patted his shoulder and looked at him. "It is you. I want you to go and tell them our intention to join force with them." Captain Graham turned and walked toward his desk, then he took a paper. "I have written their locations here. Take it with you, Max." Max stood up and took the paper, he saw many X marked the locations.
"Alright, I will do it.."
Then he left the room after another annoying briefing from Graham and headed towards the cliff. He could feel the strong wind here, but this kind of wind was nothing compared to what he would feel next. He whistled and waited. Soon, a wyvern flew towards him with. "Ouch!." Rax charged him then pinned him onto the ground and began licking his face. "Stop it, Rax! Hey! No, no! It is tickling." The blue wyvern didn't hear him and continued licking its master.

They had been flying around for two hours, and he still couldn't find the the rebel base. Max hoped Graham didn't give him wrong map, because it would be really annoying if he should go all the way back to the camp jut to take the real map. Then he turned his attention towards his wyvern who began groaning, he might be tired. Rax was a strong wyvern but he would collapse soon if they didn't land. Max looked down, looking for a vast enough place for Rax. "There it is. Well, at least it will be enough for you to land." He smiled and patted Rax's neck as he said. His hand felt the touch of sharp and cold scales. The wyvern growled happily and flew towards the landing spot.
They were just few feet away from the ground when Max, with his instinct which sharpened by his battlefield experience, felt something wrong with that ground. He gave Rax a signal to fly higher with a light kick to his side, the blue wyvern understood and braked before they reached the ground, then they ascended higher into the sky slowly.
He was right, soon, the ground which actually a big hole hidden by a big ground colored sheeting opened and showed the archers who already prepared to fire their arrows. Suddenly another six wyvern riders came from behind a cliff and flew towards them.
"A good defense line indeed. But I am not here for fighting you guys!" Max shouted while unsheathing his lance. The six wyvern riders were circling him, trapping him in the middle of their formation. The commander stared at the ex-Bern soldier, their eyes met, he felt no fear or hesitation on this man's eyes although he was surrounded. "Then, why are you here?" His tone was interogatting.
Max took out a letter, it was still sealed. "Take me to your leader. I have one or two things to discuss with."

After some boring formalities like "Wait here" and "Want a cup of tea", Max walked in a narrow corridor followed by four guards. This base looked old, he was sure this base wouldn't hold for long if the enemy found its location and launched a full-scale attack. The candle helped them see in the dark corridor, he wondered why they made a base under the ground. If the enemy was clever enough, they would easily bury them alive with strong explosion magic or something similar.
"This way, Sir Max." With a slight nod, Max followed a guy who might be the rebel vice-captain. The entered a room which more looked like an office than a bedroom. There was a man who was sitting behind a wooden desk, watching the movement of the blue haired wyvern rider. He seemed too young to be the leader, he looked like a 23 or 24 years old.
Max stepped forward. "Greeting, I have a letter from Captain Graham who have been leading another rebellion in different place from yours."

The negotiation wasn't success at all, the proposal was refused. Well, that couldn't be helped. When Bern was about to face her downfall, some ex-soldiers and nobles created rebellions all over the country with different goals. And when Bern was finally forced to succumb under Ilia's feet, they tried to free Bern and create a new country with their own ideals. And this group was one of them, which was opposite to Max's rebel group. Captain Graham tried to free Bern and make the country return to the former glory.
Now, Max was walking in the corridor again. But this time he was accompanied by five soldiers. They led him outside, it seemed he wasn't accepted here. Max took a last glance before he instructed Rax to fly fly higher on the sky. He was disappointed, all Bern citizens should have united to free their country, but what he had seen was different, even in this state, they still thought about their personal ambition and ideal. The path of freedom might be more difficult than what he predicted, if only he was success that time.
Remembering that moment, the time when he led his squad for a night attack to the capital. Their target was the man who threatened the world that time, the Bandit King, Hargus. He and his companions didn't even care if they would die. If they could kill the Bandit King who controlled Bern and revived the Great Hero Harmut, death was not something to be feared. The would die, but Bern would be freed. Unfortunately, a traitor told the enemy about this plan and they were ambushed when they were on their way towards the capital. Max didn't know how many survived. He was dying himself and might die if he didn't meet with his wife who saved his life.
Rax growled, he knew that his master was still thinking about something. They had been together for a long time to be able to understand each other's feeling. Max noticed it and smiled without any words spoken. "Lets go home, Captain wouldn't be mad if I take a little detour, maybe..." The wyvern growled again and flew faster.
It had been five months, he missed his wife and his newborn son.

Max looked down at the village, he had left for a long time. Smiling, he touched Rax's neck. "I wonder...What will I do if I meet her again? What will I do if I see my cute baby?" Rax's growl sounded like a laugh, it seemed the wyvern laughed at Max who suddenly became sympathetic. It really didn't suit him, a man known for his ruthless behavior and calm in battlefield. But he couldn't blame him, Max would meet his family after five months.
They flew down and landed near the village, Max jumped down of Rax and stared at the village with a genuine smile. People came out to see who came to their village, they were actually annoyed with the loud sound when Rax landed on the ground. Then, some people recognize Max quickly, they ran towards him.
"Uncle Max, you come back!!!" A boy and a girl hugged him. "Un-Uncle? Am I really that old? I am just 28!!!" They didn't hear him and just giggled, some villagers approached and gave him warm welcome. "Being 28 and having a child make you an uncle, Max. Lets just accept that you are OLD..." Some of them teased him and even hit his head as a sign of welcome, Max gave up, he couldn't win against this many people. But, even that they were teasing him, he could feel that they accepted him here, as a friend and family.
"Max!!!" A woman shouted. Max turned to see a woman running towards him, crying as she did. He couldn't say anything, his words was stuck in his throat. But what would a word do at this time? He felt his legs moving, and when he realized, he was running towards the woman. The villagers just watched them, no one said anything as the couple hugged each other and.
"Welcome home, Max." The woman sobbed and leaned his head on Max's chest. Max embraced her, he didn't want to let her go. He kissed her hair, her hair was smooth and fragrant, unexpectedly, he was crying, tears flowing down on his cheeks. Now, he understood the feeling of reunion with someone he truly loved. "I-I am home, Riza." Both of them stared at each other, Max touched her cheeks and pulled her face closer. With the sunset as background, they kissed, an expression of their love.
"I am home..."

(Timeskip to night)
Max sat on the roof, looking at the night sky. This village was far away from everything, the war would never reach this place. Peaceful and calm, when the last time did he have these feelings? Right, five months ago, before he left to join the rebellion. Today, he could met with his wife and son again, Guile Lionheart was sleeping with her mother now. Would he be proud seeing his father fighting for Bern? Nah, he was just a baby. The wyvern rider was thinking, he left his son when he was just one month old. Was he a bad father?
Max jumped down, trying not to make any loud sound. Most of the villagers were sleeping, even Rax was having a good dream now. They should be tired after the banquet, they really cared about him to hold a banquet just for him. Max felt that the air was colder than before, he decided to go inside. The house was warm.
He opened the door slowly then stepped inside. Riza was sleeping in their bed with the cute baby beside her. Max carefully covered her with blanket, she always forgot to put one for herself although he told her every night. Sitting on the side of the bed, Max looked at his son. "Sorry, I am a bad father. You might not remember me," he said. "I wonder...Can you walk? Can you say daddy? I don't even know anything about baby." He chuckled.
Max didn't want to sleep, he didn't want to miss a second. He would leave again tomorrow, he wanted to spend this night looking at them, his precious family.

The sun was rising, the birds making a melody, the dews falling from the leafs. The fresh mountain air entered his lungs, mountain always had the best air in the morning. His eyelids were gradually opened, Max found himself sitting on the floor, his body was covered with blanket. He glanced at the bed, his wife and son were not here. Lazily, he started to stand. Sleeping on the floor gave him ache on the back, he spent few minutes to limber up. Then he looked at the blanket, he smiled, Riza might see him sleeping on the floor when she woke up and then she covered him with blanket.
"Riza must be doing her usual routine now. I guess I will just take a bath then, waiting them to come back." Max left the house, few villagers had woken up too and they were preparing to work. He missed this scenery, for this five months, he just saw bloods and corpses, he just heard screams and yells, he just touched weapons and armors. The wyvern rider shook his head, trying to forget everything.
He headed to a river, the villagers usually use the water here to clean their bodies and do laundry. This river was important for them. Max unbuttoned his shirt and threw his clothes to the side. He touched the cold water with his toe, the fresh sensation felt nice. Not wasting time standing there naked, he jumped. His body dove into the water, he reached the bottom and took a stone. This river had beautiful stones, everyone could find them if they were brave enough to dive. He swam to the surface quickly before he run out of breath. "Guile will like this."
He finished, his body felt refreshed. No one was around, he wondered why. But he felt too hungry to think about that now, he put on some clothes. Then, he started to walk toward the village.
Everything here felt nice. Suddenly, the urge to live peacefully here and forget the war came like a wave. He pushed them away. He still had duty as a ex-Bern soldier so he had to sacrifice his personal life a little.

Max opened the door, he saw Riza had come home. Guile was sleeping in bed, he looked peaceful and absolutely cute. Being a father was always the best joy for all men, he was not an exception. Family, the most precious thing for him, more than his country. If he was forced to choose, he would discard Bern and protected his family, whatever the cost. But now, Bern needed him, he had a duty.
"Max! Are you there?" A sweet voice calling from the kitchen, his wife called his name. "Yeah, are you still preparing the breakfast, Riza?" He walked towards the kitchen, the back of his wife was seen, her body was slim, not too tall but it was perfect. She was cooking something, the pot was full with ingredients.
"Yes, today breakfast is your favorite soup, I have bought the best meats." Riza cut a meat as she looked behind to see her husband's face, Max gasped when he noticed how dangerous it was. "Hey hey, what do you think you are doing?. You may cut your own fingers!!!" His wife just smiled seeing his husband worrying about her. She stopped and turned around, she spoke with confidence, "Come on, Maximilian Lionheart. You know that I am the most skilled chef in this village." Before Max could say anything, she jumped and hugged him, kissing him. "Morning kiss!!!" She giggled.
"Uuh, sorry, I don't know that..." A man spoke to the couple. Max and Riza were forced to come back to reality from their own world. Max saw his neighbor was standing behind them, he blushed. "H-Hi..." He lost his ability to speak after the embarrassing moment.
"A-Actually, the elder told me to call you. We got some problems outside."
Max frowned. "Now what?"

"Well, chief will give you the details. Oh, and don't forget to bring your weapon. Quick!" the man suddenly got nervous. Max could see that he was serious.
Max could see his wife staring at him with those beautiful eyes, but now he could see fear. The fact that Riza was gripping her arm proved that she was afraid now. He wondered why, did she worry about him? He just came home yesterday but problems also came following him. yeah, she had right to worry. Making a bright smile, he stroke her hair and kissed her forehead. "Everything's gonna be alright." He whispered softly. The grip became weaker, maybe because she felt relieved.
"Riza, I must go. Lock the door and stay inside, okay?" He said as he looked for his spear. He found it near the closet, Riza had put it inside a wooden box, his armor was also there. He didn't take the armor and just carry the spear with him.
"Max, your armor! You don't wear it?" Riza's voice sounded worried.
"No, the chief needs me now. I can't waste time now, wearing an armor needs approximately three minutes." He grabbed a glass and drank the water before starting to run towards the door. "Remember, Riza. Stay here." He looked at her wife, he looked at her. Riza nodded. "Good." Max smiled.
Then, after he made sure Riza had locked the door he dashed following the man. Soon after, they arrived near a bar, he could see the villagers gathered here. What happened exactly? He didn't waste time, Max ran through the crowds to find the chief. He needed an explanation.
"Max! Over here!"
An old man called him. Max looked at the chief and approach him by running. The elder looked worried, so something really happened. "What's wrong, chief? Tell me wh-" He stopped speaking as his eyes got focused to a red color near the bar entrance. "That's...It can't be...Blood?"
"A group of brigands, five scary-looking man, came here and drank in bar. Everything went smoothly until they started getting drunk. Gladly, no one was killed, some got injured but nothing worse. Except, the took my daughter as hostage." Max was about to smile when he saw his depressed face. The took the chief's daughter? Max was a father too, he could understand his feeling. "Now they demand golds. But this village is poor, no golds here!!! Max, please!"
Max's expression was serious, he was staring at the entrance. He could hear cheers and laughs from inside. In his mind, he simulated his action, thinking about the best plan to save the hostage and give those bandits proper beating.
"Chief, choose three brave strong men among the villagers. Tell them to sneak from the back door. I will distract the brigands, when I do that they must barge in and save your daughter." After saying that, he didn't bother seeing the chief shouting to the villagers, probably still choosing. He walked slowly towards the bar, a spear on his hand.

Max stood right before the entrance, he peeked inside. The scene was not like he had expected. It was a total mess, chairs and tables were crushed into pieces. He could see shards on the floor and few cracks in the wall. "Wow, what exactly happened here?" The bandits were inside, there was three axe wielders and two swordmen. "It's bad. I have a disadvantage to fight against axes." He looked at his lance.
Max could see Rax flying above the sky, the wyvern knew his partner had a problem and he came to help. Smiling, Max put his finger on his lips, telling Rax not to make too much sound. The wyvern understood his gesture.
Max looked inside once again, he was searching for the elder's daughter. "Ah, there she is." He found a young woman curled in the corner, near the back door, she looked fine although she was surrounded by bandits.
"Okay, lets start the party." He smirked.
Max jumped inside, he landed on the wooden floor and rolled several times. The bandits couldn't ignore the sudden entrance of the former Bern soldier. They got up and drew their weapons, ready to kill the intruder.
"What the hell? Who are you?" A fat bandit barked.
"Are you nuts? W-We have a hostage!" Smaller bandit stood before the hostage holding his axe.
Max didn't come without a plan, he quickly got up and acted like he was being frantic, panting and staring outside. "I-Ilian...They are here!!! The rebel was slaughtered." He looked outside, the bandits followed him looking outside. Their expressions were interesting to be seen, Max had a slight smile, he was trying not to laugh. "W-We will die!!! They are heading here!" He might be a good actor, the bandits looked panic and yelled to each other.
"Hey, you two! Go outside! See if he speaking the truth or not. Now!!!" One of them shouted.
Two bandits ran outside, but they found no Ilian soldiers. "I don't see any-" He turned pale as he saw something diving, a blue wyvern. BLAAR!!! Then, they were stomped mercilessly like ants. The ground was shaking as Rax landed on them, the wyvern roared afterwards as the sign of victory.
The bandits cursed or gasped as they watched their friends had been crushed by the blue winged creature. Max gripped his lance and got up with an acrobatic move, he didn't wear his heavy armor so he could move faster and lighter. The momentum was his, he hit a fat bandit with the blunt side and kicked his head at the same time while still in midair. The fat bandit didn't see the attack coming and was completely defeated, he crashed to the wall leaving only two bandits remain, one axe user and one sword user. Max knew he should beat the axe user first so he leapt as soon as she landed after the first attack. He had the element of surprise here, his lance successfully stabbed the bandit in his abdomen. But the bandit didn't just let the wyvern rider kill him without any resistance. Max could feel his hot blood as an axe slashed his shoulder. "Aaargh! Damn it!" He grabbed the bandit's head and banged him to the wall.
The last bandit drew his sword and tried to attack, but he stopped and thought about the hostage. He still had a hostage. "This man is a monster! I can't win fighting him directly." He got a hope to survive this battle, but when he turned around, he saw not just the hostage, but three men holding weapons protecting the hostage. "What! Impossible!!!"
"Surrender. You have no choice." A voice came from behind. the bandit felt something sharp on his back.
Max was standing here near the dead body staring at the last bandit, his glare was scary and his cloth was all red because of blood. His lance was pointed to the bandit, Max was ready to stab him anytime if he showed any suspicious movement.
----------------
The villagers were waiting outside. They knew Max was strong but he was fighting five men at once, three actually, two bandits were stomped by his wyvern. They prayed for him, he should come out alive.
Soon, four men and a woman came out. The villagers cheered and ran towards them, they were full with joy.

"Aaaw!!! Riza...A..aaw...It's hurt! I swear! Do it slowly, please." Max begged for his wife's mercy. But Riza continued to pressed his wound with a piece of wet cloth. The brown haired woman knew how to tend people's wound, it should be slowly and carefully, but this time she was doing it fiercely, she was pissed.
"Silence! I told you to wear your armor! See! You got injured because you didn't listen to me." Riza took a salve and rubbed it on Max's wound. the wyvern rider's face was mixed between pain and remorse, but it was mostly pain. "You call yourself a man?"
"But...I..." Max tried to speak.
Riza took more salve and stared to Max's silver eyes.
"Aaah!!! Okay! Okay!" Max gripped the window curtain to help him ease the pain, it didn't help much actually. "Forgive me, Riza! I will obey you! Anything! Aaaw!!!" His wife didn't listen to him and continued bandaging his wound after she finished with the salve. This torture continued for few minutes.
----------------
Max leaned against the wall, he was breathing furiously, trying to get the air into his lungs. Riza was in kitchen, still cooking for lunch. Max glanced to the kitchen, watching his wife's silhouette. He was smiling although he was sweating a lot, not because of the wound of course. He knew that his wife was pissed because she loved him.

Max spent 3 days to heal his wound, it wasn't completely healed though. These three days were precious, but the wyvern rider couldn't stay any longer. It had been a week since he left the rebel base, his mission was accomplished although the result was bad.
Max was standing outside the village with Riza, the brown harried woman had their son, Guile, in her arms. Max decided not to tell the villagers about his departure, he only told Riza. They just stood here looking at the horizon, they tried to find a word but they didn't have anything left to be said.
-------- Yesterday...
"What? You will leave tomorrow???" Riza had a surprised expression.
"Forgive me. Riza, I wouldn't give you a reason because you should have known." Max closed his eyes.
"Ridiculous! Yes! I know! But..." Riza covered her face with her hands as she stopped speaking.
"Riza...I..." Max wanted to embrace her, but he couldn't.
"Don't...Don't you understand? How long had I waited you to return here? Return to this little but warm house." Her voice sounded like sobbing.
"It must be hurt for you. I always missed this house too." Max said, his hands trembled.
"I knew. I already knew. When you came back four days ago, I knew you wouldn't stay for long." It was hard for her to say it, to admit it.
They fell silent, no words, a heavy silence.
Riza turned her face and walked past Max, they didn't say anything. "I am going to sleep. Don't leave without telling me tomorrow."
--------
Max climbed Rax's body. He was still silent, he didn't want to leave his family like this, in this silence. But he couldn't say anything, not even a single phrase. The wyvern rider just looked at his wife who had sad face. Rax, the blue wyvern, realized the odd atmosphere. He stayed silent though, his master had to solve this matter alone.
A second turned into a minute, a minute turned into a half hour. They were still here, looking at each other's eyes. There was a bond, like that day when Max left the village to join the rebellion, there was something that not even them could explain. "I will come home again." He said it, he could said it. Max pulled the reins, Rax started to flap his wings. The loud sound echoed and the wind blew harder.
"Max..." Her weak voice called him, his silver eyes watched the woman crying. "Can you promise?" Riza paused for a moment. "This child...You will scold him when he makes a mistake, you will give him advice about how to get a girlfriend, you will teach him how to be a good man like his father." Riza looked at him with teary eyes. "Will you...?"
Max was hesitated for a moment, he didn't want to leave. But he stayed with his decision and said, "I promise."

A soldier yelped when a blunt stick hit his chest very hard. His opponent was more ferocious than usual, he fought like a lion, like his name, Lionheart. The spectators cheered when another strike hit the man's hip then followed by a low kick which swept the man's legs. It was ended as the man lying on the ground having his opponent pointing his stick towards his throat.
Max stretched his hand to help his sparring partner get up. "You...Ouch...You almost killed me..." The soldier left Max with painful expression. Max wiped his sweats with a towel, he thought he might have gone too serious this time. Well, he made a vow after he left the village to return to this base, he would free Bern as a compensation for his family. That was the reason why he was always serious even in training.
"Bravo. You looks more spirited than usual Max." Captain Graham clapped as he approached Max. The wyvern rider saw his superior coming and gave him a salute. His sweats falling from his hair but that just made him look cool.
Looking at him, the old commander laughed and punched his shoulder, Max's expression flinched a bit as he felt the pain in his shoulder. He was punched right in his wound. Graham didn't seem to notice as he was too busy laughing.
