There they were in Pherae, after a long journey from Sacae. This was a place they had to pass through in order to reach Ostia, and to their goal of the Book of Scrying.
However, there was another reason why Ignis had agreed to stop at Pherae when the older man had suggested it, Ignis wanted to check out something related to Rayl, one of the group of people who had murdered his family. Ignis had wanted to confirm the location of Rayl's house or base, just so that when he grew stronger, he would know where to find Rayl for his revenge.
--- Lucas hurried to catch up with his employers. They were moving quite fast and did not seem to tire as much as him. The one who had spoken to him in the tavern had a steel in his eyes, which made him feel uneasy about his life, while the older man looked strange and had a slight sparkle in his eye which chilled his spine when he looked at him.
What a weird pair of men... Normally, you wouldn't expect people like this to be looking for artifacts at all. Well, Lucas wasn't one to complain about anything, especially where money was concerned.
---
Ignis spotted a city near the border. It would be a good place to stock on supplies and listen to the streetears about the recent events of the place.
Signaling to the older man, Ignis posed the question, "So... This city would be a good place to stock up and find out more about the book..."
That was a question within a statement. It was Ignis asking whether or not the older man wanted to stop or not, but doing so in such a way that if the older man had wanted to stop, the older man would seem like the one who had suggested stopping, and would therefore, be at a slight disadvantage in any discussions related to their stopping at the city.

Finally at Pherae, Alexander was getting more anxious. They were closer to a great relic, a book of scrying, something that might show Alexander his fate, something he had wanted to see for a long time.
But there was this other bugger, Ignis. A pain, a thorn in his side, one could say. Ignis could betray Alex any moment. He just had to put some trust in the boy...minimal trust. At the most.
Alexander also found sadistic pleasure at seeing the scared Lucas. Whenever Lucas turned to face Alex, he would just shudder at the sight. Hmph, a pathetic human, that mercenary was.
He heard ignis say something about stocking up at Pherae. Alexander replied," Well, do whatever you want, but I do not like wasting time. We better do it quick, I'm eager for relic picking." he said.

Not bad... Quite a neutral answer... It seems the old man has experience in this as well...
Ignis made up his mind quickly and decided to head into the village for a quick break. He just had to persuade the man to agree to go to the village without himself agreeing first. He could really sense the old man's eagerness to start hunting for the book.
"You shouldn't be so hasty... Why... We hardly even know anything about the book or where in Ostia we can find it, even... A little asking around wouldn't hurt..."
---
Not again... Another word game between the two...
Lucas watched as another one of those word games happened where the two of them would try to make each other agree to do something to put that person at a disadvantage. Lucas wondered if they really were friends at all, they seemed so hostile to each other. Lucas just hoped that they wouldn't fight over something then forget his pay or even backstab him at all, which would be quite likely, if anything ever happened between the two.

"Heh, as I said, if you want to explore this little place, do so. But do it quickly, I'm not the one for patience. I'll stay in the inn if you want.. or probably outside the gates. I'm really in no mood for exploring a city. I say we split up and meet in about two hours." Alexander replied.
He sighed. That kid was frustrating, that Ignis.

"Hmm...", was all that Ignis said as he started walking towards the city.
He assumed that the older man and Lucas would probably wait at the entrance or at one of the inns, so Ignis started out by heading over towards the markets to stock up on supplies. This way, as long as none of them had followed him here, they would assume that he had come only to stock up on stuff, and wouldn't find out about him wanting to snoop around for information about that Rayl man who had... Ignis couldn't complete that sentence in his head... It was something that he had to face eventually.

Alexander watched as Ignis wlaked off looking for information. "Hmph!" he snorted, making Lucas stagger.
Stupid child. He was making Alexander impatient. Just running off like that? They needed to get that crying book! Their source of caution!
He walked into a bar, and looked as a group of rogues came and treated the place as their own. Well, good for Alex, as long as they didnt bother with him.

Ignis stepped into the local tavern. It was where most secrets were exchanged daily, where the latest talk of the town would be at...
Ignis walked over to the main counter, signalled to the bartender and asked, "So... Have there been anything new lately... About the holy paladin..?"
Towards this question, the bartender looked at him with an expression of fear and suspicion. This Rayl certainly was powerful... He might have had many enemies before, and this bartender might have been asked the same question enough times to know fear when that question was asked.
Well, Ignis decided that he had to bring the fear further out, he took out his sword from his sheath and held it to the neck of the bartender, taking care not to let anyone else see what he was doing.
"Tell me everything you know, or I will slit your neck open..." Ignis ordered, with a slight "Haha" at the end to emphasise his point.
At this, the bartender quailed and immediately blurted out everything he knew about Rayl... Most of the information, Ignis had already known, but there was one that caught his surprise, Rayl was heading to Bern? To quench a rebellion?
Perfect... That would give Ignis probably enough time to find the Book of Scrying before he came back... Ignis would be prepared to battle Rayl when he returned...
"Thank you for the information..." Ignis told the barman, just as he slit the neck of the barman anyway and left the tavern, heading to where he was supposed to meet the older man, in the inn.

Just as Alexander thought, the rogues came near him. Either they wanted to kick Lucas' ass, or they wanted to meddle with someone really silent. So, they dared to argue with a dragon, did they?
"Hey you, greenie! Pass over that drink!" one of them ordered.
"Heh! Why...should I?" Alexander asked in a sinister, intimidating manner.
"...You DARE answer back at us? Well, I think its time we showed you who you're messing with." saying so, he tried to punch Alex.
Alex though, knew about humans pretty well. Reflexes were not their strong point. He just bent sidewards and held the rogue's hand.
"Well boys, I guess you want a fight? Well....hmm. I guess I can give you one." he said.
Alex got up. He was pretty bulky for a normal 'human'. He just lifted the man with just one arm on his neck and threw him off the table, shards of glass pricking the rogue's body.
The other rogues got frightened by Alex's power, and fleed from the bar.
The bartender said,"Thanks man. Those rogues were really messing with us."
"No...thanks is needed. I just did that because they tried to mess with me." Alexander said in a deep, soft voice.
He was fed up with this place though. People scared, there was almost no drinks in this bar. A couple of rogues fleeing. Well, he thought it best to wait at the gates of the city.
He looked at Lucas. Poor man, he was shivering. Alexander derived lots of sadistic pleasure from the man's fear. He sighed and dragged the scared Lucas along with him. Although it was fun watching him shiver in fear, it would also be a burden if he left him sitting in the bar. Ignis would start doubting Alex, and that, was not what he wanted.
He arrived at the gates to find Ignis standing there, waiting for them. So the boy was pretty fast. "Heh, shall we go then?" he asked.

Hmm...? Ignis saw the older man coming, looking as if he had just came out of a battle, dragging the mercenary, Lucas along behind him... Lucas looked as white as a sheet, as if he had seen something scary or dangerous...
Ignis knew that it was better not to ask anything, and turned around, starting to walk off already, towards Ostia, where they were to find the relic, the Book of Scrying.
OoC: Ignis and Alex will be moved over to Doom Wolves Encounter in Ostia now to search for the Book of Scrying. As with the previous thread, this thread is open to other RPers, but take note that Ignis and Alex have already left.
