Aaron adopted a thoughtful pose like he usually did when considering something. "Well, Mernatel," Aaron looked around for the Bernese knight. He was pretty sure he was around here somewhere. ", Mernatel mentioned coming to Lycia with the hope of recruiting some help. That shows that some people are at least thinking of rebellion. As to how many people...."
Aaron considered. If he were the Illians, he'd be trying to make the rebs seem as deluded and dangerous to everyone involved as possible. The more danger, the fewer people would want to join them. Paint them as brigands or criminals and fewer people will join them. Exaggerating their numbers could prove a double edged blade to the occupation. While high rumors of high numbers of dangerous rebels would encourage the population to trust the Northerners, it could also encourage those who wished to rebel by giving them confidence in their numbers.
"Impossible to determine with the information at hand, but I'd expect that not more than a few groups have been able to hold together. Rebellion still takes organization, and few groups can maintain that without a military style conditioning."
The mage gave a forced smile. "I guess that doesn't help our, or your, situation much, hmm...."

Wyatt just shrugged his shoulders as the tow educated youths talked. "Bah, all that stuffs way above us. Why concern yourself with the actions of nobles? They don't take us into account, so let them have their land disputes or whatever it is. Why do we even need to get involved?"
That was just his classic way, over simplifying the real issue.
He looked to Gwen for a moment. "And besides, talking of rebellion openly in any civilized area is a good way to wind up meeting with the executioner. You'd best keep that kind of talk to yourself."

"I think we should be fine, Wyatt. We're pretty secluded over here, and the dock noises should cover our discussion from those further away." The groanings of the ships and their docks could still be heard, like an overlay of sound on covering the rest of the town.
"I think I'm going to take my leave though. North-east suits my purposes, so that's the way I'll be heading I guess." While Aaron sympathized with th Bernese, and would probably want help if his country was in a similar situation, he was burdened with the other side of the argument. Aaron knew of Illia's harsh winters, and knew that as long as Bern was supporting them, the frozen country would suffer fewer losses to starvation. In a sense, it was only fair that Illia take some help now, but the Bernese likely wouldn't share that opinion.

Grayson waited for what seemed like ages for Inigo to respond. However, it had seemed as if he wasn't even there anymore. Sabin, too. Grayson was bewildered by this odd predicament. However, it didn't stop him from moving on.
"Well you two have fun doing... uh... whatever it is you're doing. I'm going to go see how Aaron is faring." he took his leave and peered around the docks, shuffling his way through the crowds, until he found a head of green hair. Grayson pushed his way through to where the scholar stood speaking with a red haired young man. Grayson had heard him referred to as Wyatt before. He took a second to catch his breath, pushing through all those people wasn't exactly easy, and spoke to get Aaron's attention.
"Aaron! There is something odd about Inigo and Sabin. They just stand there idly as if all life has left them. It's eerie."

Wyatt nodded at Aaron. "Yeah, you may be right. I guess that's just the 'commoner' in me. Anyway, you said you had something you wanted to check out to the north east? Well, much as I can figure I'm gonna learn a lot more following you around then sitting here and playing with iron, so I'll give ya a hand." He turned to the noble women, what was her name again? "Guess this is hello and goodbye then, nice to meet you, and good luck with whatever you're doing here. See if you can keep Gabe out of trouble for me, ok? He's a good kid, but he's got a bad habit of shouldering too much responsibility." He remarked with a smile, hefting his pack up onto his shoulders.

OOC: Sorry for short post
"I heard that, Grayson!" Sabin said, mockingly.
He followed Grayson after he said something about Inigo and him..... standing there.
"Oh hey there Aaron. I guess you're about to go looking for information now?" he asked, kinda clueless now.
"Well, I guess you could go to the market, they're usually huge around these parts. Lots of chit-chat." Sabin said.

Grayson spoke up, hair wobbling in front of him like a flag pole. If it was possible to find something which simultaneously attracted attention to the person, yet detracted attention away as well, it was that hairdo. A moment later, Sabin joined them as well.
"Hmm... I'd guess that Inigo just isn't feeling himself right now. Probably best to just leave him be and let him work through his issues."
Aaron turned to the pirate, and looked him over curiously.
"I don't recall saying I was looking for information. I was just talking about leaving." Aaron wasn't sure what had led the man to think he'd be searching for information. Well, other than he was always on the lookout for more tidbits of knowledge... but he was pretty set on leaving just then.

"Hm, you're just leaving? Well.. do you mind if I join you? I've not been seeing much with this group, and even after a long time, I've still not got my contract. I don't think I'd be able to do something as fighting if I didn't get paid in the end." Sabin said, chuckling.
"Oi Grayson! Quit goofing around there... are you day-dreaming again?" Sabin shouted at the novice archer.

"Yes. I had enough sitting around and waiting on that ship."
Aaron considered for a moment. Wyatt wanted to come with him already, which was fine; He was a blacksmith. Sabin, however, was a fighter looking to get hired. That could have the potential to attract hostilities somewhere down the road. Of course, there was no guarantee that they wouldn't run into some form of hostile trouble, even if they didn't have a professional fighter with them.
"Well, Sabin, if you're looking for pay, I can't help you there. I'm running out of the gold I've been carrying. You could come along for awhile though to look for work." That really was the best he could offer the seaman. He didn't have the same interests or resources as a city-state of Lycia.

Grayson listened as the conversation between Aaron and Sabin steered towards leaving the group. He scratched his chin a bit, confused as to what was going on, exactly. However, this idea sounded much more enjoyable to him than standing about a port waiting for instructions. Patience was never Grayson's strong suit. He was getting bored with the monotony in this crowd. He was ready to move on.
Taking a comb to his hair, he inserted himself into the conversation.
"Well I don't know where you plan on heading, but it sounds like an adventure to me. I tire of this place. May I come along?"

Gabriel pondered as the conversations took place in front of him. None of these men were part of the Lycian forces, which meant he had no way to force them to do his bidding. Besides, this wouldn't be entirely bad. The less they were the easier it would be to hide themselves. If Aaron, Grayson, Sabin and Wyatt were to leave, that meant that Saffra, Inigo, Guinevere, Roland and Jade would be with him still. Wonder for how long those would stay...
"As I said before we set off back in Lycia, you may do as you wish" he finally said to those gathered in a circle in front of him. "In case you have a change of mind, though, we'll be heading northward and diverting slightly to the east later. We are going to have to get closer to the capital if we want to get reliable information."
"All it seems we have found here is that there are less and less ships coming to and from Bern. Commerce seems to be slowly coming to a stop, which is understandable during war. No one wants to take sides and be deemed a traitor by anyone."
"As soon as you're ready" he said to no one in particular "we are leaving this port town."

"Well Aaron, I'm not really sure about the money thing. Sure, I need it, but I've been wanting to explore this land a bit as well. I've got this adventurous bit in me, it is quite reckless, I know that. Somehow I feel that by travelling with you, I'd get more time to get to know about the different styles of living here than going with the Lycian group. But whatever, I'll follow you when you're ready." he told the green-haired scholar.
He then heard Gabriel telling everyone about how he couldnt force them to do what they want. Sabin felt sorry for him, but he had to leave. Somehow he felt he was going no where with that group.

Aaron laughed at Grayson's mention of adventure. "Well, I don't know about how much of an adventure it will be. I'm anticipating, shortages of funds, potential difficulties from illians, trouble from ruffians on the road, and tight belts before I'm through. I won't stop you though."
The mage cocked his head and glanced skyward for a moment before correcting himself. "Ok, maybe that does sound like an adventure. Just not an enjoyable one." Aaron enjoyed discovering things, but preferred doing it in comfort when at all possible.
"Excuse me for a moment, please, friends. I've got a few things to say."
The green-haired mage approached Gabriel and the rest of the travelers. "I owe you all an apology. You particularly Gabriel. You're fighting for Lycia by doing this and I wanted to help, but the truth is that... well, it doesn't agree with me." Aaron refrained from actually mentioning their goal. Despite his reassurances to Wyatt about them not being overheard, earlier, he didn't see a reason to tempt fate.
"I'll be in the same general vicinity as you for the next few days, and if you need something, call. Helping Pherae is one thing, but I always try and help my friends."
The mage glanced over towards the golden haired beauty from earlier, and he smiled a bit at their shared memories of the trip."Gwen, try to stay off anymore ships, eh? At least unless you've got a healer on board. Take care."
The last person in the group he laid eyes on was Saffra. A dragon. A mystery. Certainly, one of the most captivating encounters that had occurred to him in his life. He'd had a lot of those recently, but the others he'd been glad to leave behind. He left the dragoness behind with no sense of satisfaction. "Ah... And here's someone I wish I had more of a chance to get to know. May the winds of fortune favor you, Lady Saffra. Perhaps, we will have the chance to meet again."

Aaron's words did little to discourage Grayson. In fact, it made him all the more excited. His hair bobbed playfully as he thought of the things he'll see. Ilia! Grayson's father often spoke of it. He would normally comment on the cold and how everywhere he went was covered in a blanket of snow. Grayson had never seen snow before. In fact, what Aaron described reminded him of his weeks spent on the Pheraean streets.
"Oh, what little you know of me, Aaron. That sounds like just the kind of adventure I want!" Grayson mumbled as Aaron excused himself.

Having said his piece, the mage looked around for a moment before turning on his heels and heading back to Wyatt and the others, cloak billowing slightly. It was time to head out. Perhaps there was something he could get from Bern. Maybe there would be resources in some libraries which wouldn't be available in Lycia, if he could even gain access. Who's to say the Bernese or Illians would even be willing to share what they had with anyone, let alone a foreigner.
What's the use. I'm not even sure what I'm looking for anymore. The mage moved over to his horse, Fable, and pulled himself aloft. He'd ride for a while, just to put this place behind them.
"Come on, then. We won't get anything more from loitering about here." The mage said, giving a small kick to the grey and heading out the north side of town.
