(Continued from Laid to Rest)
Kelvin smiled at Chelsea. She still seemed very tired, but he could tell she was getting better. It made him feel better to know that she was getting better. It took a little weight off of his chest. "Feeling better yet?" He asked her sweetly, taking her hand lightly.

"A... little... bit..." Chelsea answered weakly, her fingers closing around his hand. She tried to sit up, but couldn't. Instead, she simply looked up at him. There was quite a few things she wanted to say but she couldn't say more than a few words at a time. Summoning her strength, she managed, "No armor... looks... strange..."

Kelvin chuckled a little. "I've been wearing that scrap metal for days now. It feels good to be out of it. You wouldn't believe what I've been through in the past month or so. Just sitting down and talking... it feels great. You don't know how good it feels to be back with you. When I received your letter I was filled with joy. Hell, I rushed back so quick that I haven't been able to sleep in days."

Chelsea tried a second time to sit up, but failed again. "Where... green... armor...?" She asked, having last seen Kelvin in his normal green armor. She guessed something had happened when they had been apart, but if it was enough for him to need a change of armor, it seemed serious. Obviously, he was ok, or he wouldn't be here. But she had to know.

"My green armor? I had it reforged. It's downstairs with Kashmir. It's a lot thicker and heavier now. I just felt that I wasn't ready for it yet. I don't know what it was, but I'm starting to feel like I should be wearing it again. I don't know. I guess I've been searching for a reason that I fight. I thought I used to know, but lately everything seems gray. I'm not sure what's right and wrong."

Third time was a charm. Chelsea was finally able to sit up. She was panting with the effort of it, but she managed it. "I... can help..." she said, still sounding weak. She tried to squeeze his hand, but only managed a small amount of pressure. She swayed slightly, but remained in her sitting position, staring into his eyes as she did.

He gave her a small smile. "I know, Chelsea. I know." He moved over next to her and put his arm around her shoulder. He sat there with her for a few minutes, just thinking to himself. He thought his life since he had left home to join the army and all that had happened. He had changed. He had grown up and matured. Suddenly a realization hit him. He smiled to himself, and turned his head towards Chelsea. "I think I know what I've been fighting for. What I'm still fighting for."

She rested her head on his shoulder, softly snuggling into him. As the sat in the quiet, she simply listened to his heart beating. It calmed her. Her eyes had started to slowly close again as he spoke up again. She tilted her head at him, curious at what he was talking about. "You... do...?"

"You. I've been fighting for you. Every moment I've been fighting, I've been fighting to protect you, or so that you wouldn't have to, or so that I could get back to you. You are the reason I fight. You're my everything. People speak of knights in shining armor who save people and rescue damsels. That is what I am, but for you alone. I love you, Chelsea, and I'd fight an army for you."

The more Kelvin talked, the more Chelsea's face grew red. Wait a minute, she was blushing! Did that mean she was starting to be able to feel again? "I'd never... ask you to fight... an army... You could... be hurt... I'd... at least... fight beside you... Because... you're important... to me too... so important..."

"I would do it anyways. That's exactly what love is. I would do anything for you, even it killed me. You mean more than my life to me. Which is why I've... been wanting to ask you something. It's sorta sudden, but..." Kelvin paused as he reached into his pocket. He pulled out an object he had been keeping safe there for weeks now, something he had bought back in Lycia. He opened his hand to reveal a small, simple golden ring, with a small diamond set into the top. "Will you marry me?" Kelvin asked, a smile forming on his lips.

Chelsea felt her jaw drop and her eyes widen. Her breath was taken from her. Everything went silent. She wasn't even quite sure she had heard him right. Did he really say...? Then, all at once, everything came back to her. Every sound was amplified. Every color looked vibrant. And Kelvin... Kelvin was perfect. He face flooded with color and her eyes with tears as she started to nod. She tried to find her voice and realized it was working perfectly, though a little choked up. "Y-Yes... yes!" She dove at him, wrapping her arms around him and squeezing him as tight as she could, crying into his chest.

Chelsea fell silent. It may have only been for a couple of seconds, but for Kelvin it felt like an eternity. She's going to say no, I just know it, Kelvin thought to himself. Then, Chelsea broke the silence and nearly tackled him off the bed. The ring almost flew out of his hand, but he closed it just in time. He sat there, taken aback for a moment, then he threw his arms around, and held her tight. Chelsea. The woman he loved. His bride-to-be.

Chelsea kept crying into his chest. It took her almost a minute to realize this meant she was able to feel emotions again, but she really didn't want to dwell on that now. She wanted to use them. She cried for another full minute before she remembered something else. The ring! She was horrified for a second that she had knocked it from Kelvin's hand, but then she noticed it was still clamped tight on it. Shaking heavily, she released her grasp on her new fiance and moved back just enough to hold a very badly shaking hand out for him to put it on.

Kelvin slipped the ring onto her finger and closed his hands around hers. He gave her a big smile and pulled her in close. "Chelsea Calderon. It's got a nice ring to it, don't you think?" He said, teasing her.
