She'd been at the top of the tower of air, facing down insurmountable odds, when it happened. Something struck them, something that shattered her vision and world around them.
All Kazane knew was that for the last six months, like for the rest of her life, she'd been living by the Yunita Magical Academy. She'd never left home on an adventure, never been to Opus City or the Luftspire, never got adopted by an older wolf. Her mother hadn't let her leave the village once the world's collided. But even she could not stem this girl's curiosity, and so after six months she relented. It had become obvious the world wasn't just going to change back overnight, so Kazane finally left home, with a spring in her step and a hundred dreams in her bright smile.
There was so much to explore! So much to see! Not only was there the world of Belorath, all the cities and places she'd heard of since she was a child, but now there were all of these new lands too! And, if her information was correct, all of these places from 'Elibe' were human lands! Humans were always the most interesting creatures, so vibrant and different. The first stop on her journey was to be the first landmark outside of Yunita's west side. And in this world, that became the providence of Pharae in Lycia.
If her map was right (which was up in the air, really) she should be a day or so out of Pharae now. What an adventure she would have! What kinds of people would she meet? The wonders, the danger, the stories! There was so much to see, she could hardly contain herself as she nearly skipped down the dirt road, wind pulling it's way happily through her long pink hair.

Another world, another land to spread the good news. The good news that he, the Crimson mage, hero of all and protector of the weak and generally anyone less incredible then him, is here to save everything! He would find the cause of this cuhraaaazee landacolopse and totally go down in history of both the worlds! Imagine it, two worlds universes apart but sharing the same legend! The legend of Elias the Crimson Mage! Oh my, it was enough to give him chills. He spent all day hugging his self to calm down when he came up with his crimsonly awesome plan of awe inspiring incrediblitude! The plan had three steps.
1. Find out what happened 2. Fix it 3. REVEL IN GLORY!
It was absolutely fool proof! He would be a name that wasn't only household, but universal! Every universe will have their own Elias! You get an Elias, and you get and Elias! Everyone gets an Elias!
So, erm, he had a little bit of a setback though. Not that it was anything in the terms of progress of incredible awesomeness that was the condensed form of the crimson mage, it was just a kind of snag maybe. So what if it's already been three months and he's done nothing but have his feet as red as his robe, yelling little crimson cries. So, how exactly do you go about fixing a magically merged continent? Seriously, there has to be a "fixing geological catastrophes for dummiesincredibly intelligent and fashionable mages" out there somewhere.
He shuffled down a dirt road, somewhere in lycia or something. He lost track. He had a map of Elibe memorized in his head but now it wasn't only wrong, it was really throwing him off his game. How was he supposed to know that some other continent would badly superimpose itself into the land? His back hunched over and over-dramatically slumping forward. A person was walking by and they were painfully too happy that Elias was about to go and steal their happiness so he could add it to his personal stash.
"Hey you." He called, putting hands on his back to straighten it, a comically loud crack coming from it. He specifically trained his body to make entertaining noises at will. "Do you know where I am? Am I in Elibe or that other place that name continually escapes me I swear do you people keep it written on your hands or something?"

Kazane's ears perked slightly when she heard someone call out to her. Hey you." Well! That was rude! Someone should probably have taught whomever this one was some manners! She turned to see who addressed her, and paused at the volume of what he was wearing. That was...a lot of red. Not like she was one to talk on monochrome outfits. The man...boy...? It was hard to tell, anyway he cracked his back rather noisily and asked a question of her. Where were they? The way he talked, it was obvious he came from the other world. How cool, the first person she'd ever really gotten the chance to talk to from the other world!
"You're from Elibe?" She asked, sounding the name of their land out for a moment. That old habit of hers. Still, she smiled as she addressed him. "My world is called Belorath, just so you remember. And I think we're on a bridge point." She pointed back to the east. "I came from there, Yunita Forest. That is part of my world. But over that way..." She said pointing west. "Is supposed to be a place called Lycia...I think a city or something called...umm....Phar? Phrae? Something like that." She rubbed her head a bit bashfully. "Sorry, I guess I'm not very good with all these new names either."
She paused for a moment, not sure what to say after she'd given him what he wanted. She didn't want to bother him, but she didn't really want to walk alone either. "So...um...where are you heading then?" She asked timidly, trying to stoke the fire of the conversation a little bit.

It had happened again, he knew. He had been doing something...something important, maybe, he wasn't sure anymore, and then the world had changed. He could remember that moment of the shift, where the world had started warping and an entire other world had smashed into his. There had been so much chaos, this feeling of everything tearing apart, including his very mind...
And it had happened again, with his memories flaking away like a dead skin...or something more pleasant. He really couldn't think of anything pleasant that flaked but he had lost...how long? He didn't even remember that! So there he was, left with a memory of leaving Edessa in confusion on the one hand and a memory of some considerable time later losing everything in between. That was it.
On top of that, he couldn't bring himself to kill anything without memories-that-probably-weren't-memories-because-they-kept-contradicting-each-other popping up and making him want to huddle in a corner clutching his head in the hopes that it would stop. Food in the wilderness was difficult to find under the circumstances.
So, he had come to a road, considered his options--not knowing where he was, finding a city was going to prove...difficult, but he had been wandering around for a good while--probably longer than he remembered, but that was...out of his reach--so he used his usual strategy: he picked a direction at random and followed it.
Fortunately, he came on a...landmark soon enough, as much as a living mound of crimson could be a landmark. The pink mound next to it was almost as noticeable, and had the added benefit of pointy ears.
He felt like any of those factors should bother him, but people were people, and they were bound to have something to eat. They were in the middle of a conversation, though...well, he could find an opening when they gave him one.
"So...um...where are you heading then?"
Was that what they were talking about? He wasn't about to wait through...well, it really wasn't actually inane or anything, now that he thought about it, so maybe he should...
His stomach chose that moment to silently remind him that very hungry described his current motivation. "Um...excuse me?" It came out sounding more like a question than he wanted, "do you happen to have anything to eat?"
He hated sounding like a beggar, and it probably showed, but in the absence of something pre-killed and non-toxic, he couldn't about to be picky at the moment.

OOC: Since it was not stated, I will assume Aeros is hiding his wings in some fashion for this post.
IC: Kazane nearly jumped when she heard someone else address her. How did these people keep sneaking up on her?! She wasn't that oblivious, was she? When she turned her eyes from the mage, she was practically floored by what she saw. A man, huddled and nearly broken, stood before them. He looked like he'd been through hell, and she wasn't about to let that slide. But there was something...different about him. Something...odd. [blue]"By the gods, are you all right?"[/blue] She asked him, moving up to help support him as he finished his question. She nodded slowly, ensuring he was steady on his feet before she moved.
She turned to the man in red with an apologetic glance, likely for breaking the conversation, as she dropped her pack to the ground and dug around for a moment. After a minute, she'd found what she was looking for. [blue]"Ah! Here we go, I have some fresh Kellian Fruit, just picked it yesterday, and a very small bit of dried meat left from home. Here."[/blue] She said, passing the fruit and jerky to the man, her eyes showing worry.
She looked up at the man in red, a confused expression on her face. [blue]"Are these roads...always so crowded?"[/blue] She questioned. She was surprised to meet the one...well, not surprised really. She knew she'd meet someone eventually, but he had kind of sought her out. And then this one too, how likely was that?
As she turned her eyes back to the weaker man, her tail swished about lightly. Neither of these men seemed bad so far, she wondered what kind of stories they had to share. [blue]"There...is that better?"[/blue] She asked the hungry man with a pleasant smile.

"Oh yeah, you get used to it. It seems that the more capable you are, the more likely you are to run into random happenstances just walking around. Walk that away and you'll find yourself in the middle of a bandit attack." He shrugged. A bit irritated that his conversation had been so rudely interrupted by this man who had the audacity to almost die near them. "Kellian fruit? Sounds fruity, must be a new plant from the other place. Bell or Wrath." He added, crossing his arms, his fabulous red cape draping his shoulders. Oh well, he had an idea. Never miss an opportunity to show off, that was his motto. Or, well, it wasn't showing off. He was just so radiantly brilliant that all his incredibly talent and charisma couldn't possible be contained and every action he took only illustrated this very basic fact of existence.
"If you have a minute, I can make us something a little more filling to eat. You hungry pink?" He didn't know her name, but then again names where never really important in Elias' book. Too many names, not enough time. What did names mean anything? Just a word that you want people to call you, he preferred using words that described people. Like Pink over there, because she was pink. Or Crimson Mage, because Elias was Crimson and a Mage. Also attractive and incredible. Dying guy, because he was a dying guy. It was much more simple that way.
"There's a fire pit over yonder." Did he just seriously say yonder? Wow, what a dork. "We can talk there. If you're from Bells of Wrath, then I wanna know some stuff. I'm sure you're crazy interested in me as well, it's not everyday one comes across the amazing Crimson Mage. And you dying guy, I'm sure you'll just be happy to have something to eat that isn't your own clothing. It's win-win-win. So much winning going on here it should be illegal. The game of life is rigged though, as long as you stick with the Crimson."

Aeros would have cringed if he'd had the energy, because he had managed to look exactly like some pitiful beggar, based on the...girl's? reaction. His mood improved infinitely when she brought out a strange fruit and some meat.
Without even considering, the manakete snatched the food away and shoved the meat into his mouth before starting on the fruit. Remembering manners at the last moment, he finished all of it off before replying to his benefactor. "Much better. Thank you." He managed to return the smile.
...How long had the red-clad man been talking? Aeros had been so focused on getting something to eat that he had almost forgotten about the third person here; as it was, said third person was actually making a lot of sense. While the manakete could care less about a fire at the moment, not having to eat his own clothing (and that wasn't an interesting statement at all...) was sounding like a good idea. And the man had mentioned something about...Bells of Wrath? It was apparently the place that the...girl was from, and if the crimson man wanted to know about it, Aeros couldn't see any reason not to learn more himself.
"So you're from...the other place?" He hoped it wasn't actually called "Bellsovrath" or anything like that, but he wanted to be sure before commiting to a mouthful.

Kazane almost recoiled when Aeros attacked her hand, like a dog that hadn't eaten in days. She almost feared losing a finger to his voracious appetite. Instead, she smiled warmly as he expressed his gratitude to her. [blue]"Oh of course! It's what anybody would do!"[/blue] She said, as she turned to the man in red, who began to speak. And speak...my he was a loquacious one, and...wait a minute. Had he just said he was famous?
Her eyes lit up almost instantly. A sense of wonder overtaking her features. [blue]"You're famous in Elibe? Really?! Oh you must tell me some of your stories, I bet you know all sorts of incredible tales! About people and places and great things nobody would ever believe!"[/blue] She clapped her hands with joy at the idea of it. She didn't even mind that he got the name of her world wrong. Indeed, she was still learning everything about theirs, and she'd had a pretty big advantage. [blue]"And a mage too! You must show me some of your magic, I haven't met an Elibe mage yet. I wonder how different it is from mine..."[/blue] She mused, pausing to turn back to Aeros and guiding him over to the fire pit the mage had pointed out. As she did, something else clicked in her mind.
Pink. He'd called her pink. The idea of being addressed by something that was not your name was very familiar to the girl, but out of all the things he could have called her, based on her unique appearance, color was what he went with. It couldn't be that he hadn't noticed, so was he just trying to be polite? This...this was why she liked humani.
[blue]"Yes, I am from Bell-O-Wrath."[/blue] She said, sounding it out slowly after the other mage's tripping over the name. She then giggle slightly as she turned away from him, so he could get a better look at her tail. The same hue as her hair, and obviously canine in it's style. Wolf like, it would seem. Also she walked barefoot, and her feet did seem to be slightly padded, also like a wolves would be. Though she lacked any obvious claws, and her ears were not shaped much as a canines would be. [blue]"Wasn't it obvious? I didn't think there were any Beastmen, Lilithu or Evlorei on Elibe. Just humani. Or am I wrong?"[/blue] She asked, uncertain of the accuracy of her information.

"That other place, yes. With all it's crazy kinds of crazy, I'm more used to the subtle docile crazy of my homeland." He rubbed his chin, 'hmm'ing and 'ahh'ing aloud. "You know the story right? Apparently a big bunch of magic blew up or something and crammed the two together into a continent sandwich. Seriously, Nabata was so surprised it leapt right off the mainland." Dying man didn't seem to know much about the other continent either, and while he didn't say he didn't know what happened Elias felt the need to let his fabulous voice serenade them with his dulcet tones.
The pink girl began to speak, worshiping the ground Elias walked upon. It was about time someone did! Still, although he was a lover of many things, many of those things being himself, a reputation built upon lies was not one of them. "Er no. I suppose I'm not famous. Not yet at least. I'm on the fast track though! Soon I'll be as well known as Athos! I'll grow an incredible and silly looking beard that I can trip over and spout cryptic nonsense all day, and people will love me for it." He posed dramatically, a finger pointing straight into the air, his cape flowing in an invisible breeze. Slowly he came down from his imaginary pedestal, returning to a much more normal looking 'talking guy' position. "But for now... I don't have many stories. Well I have one, I'll tell you later when we're situated."
"Though yes, I am a mage. An incredible, very crimson one at that." He thrust his hand back into the air, which it somehow always ends up. His hand spread wide open and a burst of flame erupting in the air like a small firework. "I'm a specialist in fire magic. By specialist I mean it's the only kind I do. Nothing against Wind and Lighting, Fire is just so much cooler."
He began to dig out some ingredients and a kitchen quality knife and sat them down. Holding his hand over the open pit a quick flash followed by a soft boom and a fire was roaring as if it had always been there. "I need to make this anyway before it goes bad." He added as an aside, though he was certain none of them cared. Some things ever the crimson mage couldn't make interesting, and that was saying something.
"Beast man, lilly thoo, and Eff lore eye? Silly names. You mean the pointy ears, animal people and shut-ins? Which ones were which again? Obviously animal people were beastmans, that makes sense. Are the pointy eared forest people the lilly thoo? I think so, they have 'lilly' in the name after all." He said, nonchalant as he cut apart ingredients with a trained hand. "Vegetable stew's alright, isn't it? That way we all have enough to eat. All my meat went rotten a while ago when I got attacked by that river. Sneaky little fink."

Kazane had a bit of a difficult time following his manner of speaking. It was very...energetic, yes. But he spoke like everyone knew what he was talking about. And she had a feeling this wasn't a recent development. [blue]N-Nabata...that's um...what was that again? And uhh...who is Athos? Was he someone important?"[/blue] She asked him, feeling very lost from the rapid way he spoke.
When he introduced himself as a mage, and a fire one at that, her confusion faded briefly. He was a specialist, much like her. And after his show of magic, she couldn't help a cunning smile creeping onto her features. [blue]"Oh really? The coolest magic, hmm? But how would your cloak flap dramatically in the wind without..."[/blue] She held up a single finger, twirling it around as a small breeze swirled around the three of them. She commanded it through the fire, gathering up the embers and swirling them around through the air. [blue]"...a little help, hmm?"[/blue] Her smile at him could probably be defined as coy, what fun he was!
Well, it didn't seem like she'd get bored any time soon. [blue]"I tend to be a bit more...of a carnivore. But I enjoy vegetables just fine. And about the races, you'd better be careful. I don't mind, but some would consider that really rude. The Beastmen especially don't like being made light of, it can be dangerous."[/blue] She sat down by the fire, looking over it at the mage in red.
[blue]"The beastmen tend to take after an animal, obviously. Canines, felines, lizards or birds. At least that I know of. The Lilithu are the 'shut ins'. They actually cannot survive direct contact with sunlight, but they aren't bad people for it. Many of them are perfectly kind, if not a little removed. Then there are the Evlorei, we're very in tune with nature. The only real physical difference between them and humani are the shapes of their ears. Theirs tend to be a little pointy. They also tend to be very good with magic."[/blue] She explained to her new friend.
She paused, eying him as she suddenly recalled something. [blue]"Oh! I got so excited I totally forgot. My name is Kazane, I don't believe we've been introduced."[/blue] She said extending her hand.

So it was 'Bell-o-wrath,' which solved one problem. The next was how exactly he was supposed to react to the other two.
The crimson-dressed mage was obviously a bit of a nut; Aeros had seen plenty of eccentricity/insanity in his friend Tuatara, and this man showed more of the same. But the girl...he had never seen anything like her before, although whatever she was apparently came from Bellowrath. It didn't make much of a difference to a manakete; what was interesting was that she was a mage, and a fairly potent one at that. He hadn't met a mage since...
...
......
He had been very close, hadn't he? And then he had lost it again.
He hated it. All of it: the colliding of the worlds, the chaos that had ensued, the changes to countryside and climate that had made travelling unpredictable at best, and most of all the fact that some law of the cosmos determined that his mind was some kind of plaything, that he wasn't allowed to remember anything. There could have been so many wonderful things in those memories, and in the ones before, and now he might never find them, because for every step forward he took was followed by a step back. Or two. Or three. He couldn't even count the steps back he was taking, all thanks to--
The manakete started and abruptly struggled to end the train of thought.
Where had that come from? It was all true, yes, and he was frustrated about it, but...he almost felt filthy from the vehement hate he had just felt. It was such a strange thing, especially after the hollowness he had felt before beginning to gain back...well, he wasn't gaining back memories, was he? So before he began gaining whatever they were.
Beyond hoping that no one had noticed his reaction, Aeros decided to go a step farther. He hated interrupting the two again, but..."Have you...heard of something called a manakete? Either of you." he said, sitting down--as much to steady himself as to look natural--and looking between the two.

"Well why should they get so offended? I'm just describing them using their physical features. The Elvlorei have pointed ears, beastmen have animalistic qualities, and Lilithu all have pale skin. If they are so sensitive of their features, then they should all wear hats." Elias didn't sound malignant, but legitimately confused. He was a man who called things as he saw them, instead of meandering around with labels and other confusing things. He shrugged, but didn't argue it. "Well I'd hate for a group of people to hate me for my vocabulary, so I'll try to use their actual long names if I can remember them." To have an entire race of people hate him would put a damper in his plans to be the most famous person in the multiverse.
"So anyways, earlier you said you didn't know who Athos was. That makes sense, but he's basically the most legendary figure in all of Elibe. An archsage that fought in the war called the scouring many many years ago. A war where humans fought the manakete, and eventually forced them through a gate to some other dimension or something. A few are still around though. Legend is they all live in Nabata in Arcadia, a land where dragons and humans live in coexistence. Nabata is a desert country where very few people live. After the combination it became an island with that lilly island. " He gave a crash course in history while he cooked. Stiring what was quickly becoming a nice smelling stew. "Athos is the most wishy washy person in history in my opinion though. First he's all 'lets blow up all the dragons!' and then he's 'noooo dragons are our frieeeeends' they say he's still alive, through magical funny business." Elias simply shrugged. "He's my biggest obstacle. I plan to usurp him and become the new archmage of Elibe. I'll rip Forblaze right out of his hands if I have to."
He took out the wooden spoon and shook it dry before reaching out and shaking the Pink girl's hand. "I'm Elias, the Crimson Mage. Make sure you remember that name, you'll be able to say you met him before I make it big." He smiled.
Dying guy suddenly spoke up, asking if they've ever heard of manaketes before. He was clearly out of it while Elias spoke, because he said manakete like five different times. "Yeah, of course I have. Almost everyone has, now seeing one. That's where you get the 'no not really's. While I haven't seen one personally, I have seen a wyvern which is like a little one."

Kazane listened to Elias's story with rapt attention. He was a very...honest man. He didn't like labels, he just called things as he saw them. She did appreciate that, and wished it was a trait more people had. She paused when she heard him use the word manakete, unfamiliar with it. She'd have to ask him once he finished his story. And he spoke, of this legendary hero, of a war between these humans and dragons, and how the humans won here. She laughed lightly at that.
[blue]"Wow...sounds like you guys did a lot better then we did. My knowledge on our history is rough, it was a really long time ago. Like, tens of thousands of years. Our legends say that dragons just...appeared on our world, and started to attack us. The three main species were young at that time, and couldn't hope to fight them, so they fled to a rather large island, and using the power of magic, hid the island from the dragons. That was so long ago, that were it not for all the spires over the surface of Belorath, nobody would still believe them. There is a tower for every magical element, and they keep...or rather 'kept' the barrier intact. But you guys beat them...wow, you must have been really strong![/blue] She announced, still processing his story. She smiled as he shook her hand, responding in kind. [blue]"Elias...that's a good name."[/blue]
And then the nearly forgotten man spoke. She'd been so interested in Elias' story, she'd nearly forgotten about him. She shook her head no, as Elias answered it. Wait, Manakete, that was the name Elias had just used. He seemed to describe it as a big lizard, but she'd never seen anything like that. [blue]"You mentioned that name before, Manakete, what is it? You make it sound like it is a really big Wyvern. Another breed maybe?"[/blue] She asked, still confused about the logistics of what exactly this mystery creature was.

He had missed something during that...odd interlude, he was sure of it, but whatever had happened, it was gone now. Plus, he was getting responses to his question.
Elias seemed like he did know a little bit about what he was talking about, which did offset some of his similarities to Tuatara; the thief might have been capable, but Aeros knew for a fact that Tuatara never knew what he was talking about, probably by choice. This mage, on the other hand, seemed extremely knowledgeable and more than willing to share that fact...which had the same effect as Tut sharing everything except the facts.
The manakete began to consider that his life was strange.
The beast...woman...person only made things stranger, apparently being a complete stranger to things in Elibe. As a mage, he would have assumed that she was the type to study a place before visiting...maybe...the memory loss was only compounding things, but the manakete tamped down his frustration more adeptly this time. It was helped by the girl's next statement.
...Well, not so much helped as redirected.
He looked involuntarily askance at the beastgirl for several seconds, trying to process some kind of response. "Really big...wyvern?" he managed, still trying to overcome a mix of incredulity, pride and...a bunch of other unpleasant things, which weren't going to help. How could he respond without giving himself away? Habit and a touch of common sense told him that staying hidden was fairly important, at least, but how...to respond to a comparison like that? Never in his life had Aeros heard manakete put in a category with wyverns; instead, they were always elevated to some kind of bizarre pedestal, a pedestal that people...humans practically worshipped at a distance and tried to stab or set on fire if they ever came close. It had always seemed like an odd relationship to him--and had complicated his interactions with humans for as long as he remembered, and probably longer--but it had been the norm.
And now this...person had just associated his entire race with wyverns. It probably had to do with the Crimson Mage's statement to that effect but...but...
"Um...no...manakete are..." what could he say? "...dragons. They're a...they're not wyverns. There's a difference." He knew he was blushing before he even finished the sentence, but that knowledge only made it worse.
Another breed of wyvern?

"Mr. I'm Starving over here is right. Manaketes are the over complicated term dragons call themselves. I never understood why they used that name though, dragon sounds cooler. Then again I guess it why humans don't call themselves walking pink bags of flesh. Actually that sounds cool, I should call people that some time. Anyways, point is they look like really big Wyverns and breath fire and ice and lightning and bad breath. They aren't always big and scaly though, they also take human bodies and walk around. Kind of like those beast people from Bells of Wrath." Elias explained in the most eloquent manner possible while cooking his stew. "Still they're totally cool. They fly around and can breath fire and I don't know what's not awesome about that. Sometimes it's hard to wrap your head around the fact they look like normal people some times, it's hard to consider them in the same category as normal people. You know, the whole living forever and transforming into gigantic winged lizards at the drop of a fashionable head accessory."
"Yeah though, we in Elibe really know how to rock. We can kick dragon booty and not be afraid of anything. So you fought dragons too in your universe? That's totally cool, I wonder if they're the same kind of dragons. Our worlds have a lot in common actually, to be honest. I wouldn't be surprised if they were. I mean, the simple fact we're both MAGES should say something. I would think another world would have concepts too difficult to wrap my head around, basic difference in sheer composition, maybe they would have no magic and make up for it with crazy tools or maybe they would be so magic they just kinda float around in the air like magical jerks. Though, as far as I've seen, outside of a few different spells my anima magic is basically the same as yours." He went off on a little rant, but it was an interesting topic none the less, though he wasn't sure these two would appreciate his points. It didn't matter, he was so incredible he worked on many levels.
