I suppose this is half-recruitment half advertisement. See, I know for a fact that with the massive amount of forums and websites about that it can be pretty difficult to start up one of your own. Back what...like, 8 years ago, all you had to do was make the site. Odds were you were one of the first of your kind, so everyone would flock there. That's likely how sites like FEplanet got so large...
Now a days, if you want a site to survive, you need to get people in on it before it is even up. So, I plan on creating a proboards site for a Fire Emblem roleplay. In basic essence it is similar to this, but it'll be focused on Tellius.
Radiant Divide
Setting History: The Hero of Blue Flames and the Mistress of Dawn are reknowned for having defeated the goddess Ashera herself in order to preserve freedom for the denizens of Tellius, and that they did. For twenty five years there was peace...and in twenty five years, much did change.
The Hero, Ike, then left his homeland in search of other lands while the Mistress came to become queen of Daein. However her new rule was too different for Daein's culture to handle and she was assassinated. Distraught, Sothe took up the role for a few months only to abandon it. To this day Daein is handled by a council of nobles, and the citizens are close to rebelling against the power hungry rebels.
Stefan founded Grann, a small nation of Branded, Beorc, and Laguz alike in the Grann Desert. Once the nation was founded and secure, though, he vanished inexplicably. Following the tradition of Laguz, the strongest warriors of Grann dueled for the right to rule. The winner of the tourney became the King/Queen, and their bloodline has held the title since and reigns in the capital: Desira.
Reyson became King of Serenes, once again a nation. However neither Reyson, Leanne, or Rafiel desired to keep the throne. Rafiel left for Hatari, Leanne for Naesala, and Reyson became a distant king to the herons with his siblings gone.
Sanaki ruled as the Empress of the Holy Begnion Empire, but died due to a tragic accident in the Mainal Cathedral. The roof collapsed on the Empress and she perished instantly. The misfortunes of the Altina line persist, so it seemed...but Sanaki did leave an heiress. Much like her mother, this new Empress was not a true Apostle...not that it mattered. Ashera was no longer in the same realm as Tellius. The Senate was reinstated by Sanaki's daughter, and many of them are purists that are quite upset with Serenes and Grann; two nations that exist withing Begnion's borders.
Caineghis retired as king of Gallia, Skrimir inheriting the title. The hot-headed Lion calmed soon enough and had great potential as a ruler, but allowed himself to lose the throne in favor of serving as a simple soldier.
Naesala kept the throne of Kilvas and aided the devastated Phoenicis in restoring their population, though the relationship between the two nations never truly healed from the treachery the hawks suffered at the beaks of the crows. Naesala eventually retired as king in favour of a quiet life with Leanne, while Tibarn ruled until he would be bested for the throne.
Kurthnaga ruled Goldoa peacefully, though having lifted the self-embargo there was a large culture shock to the isolationist country. The dragons are divided about their young king...
Hatari also suffers a large culture shock. They opened their borders to Tellius, Daein specifically, but tensions between the two grow as the Daein citizens slowly fall back to their racist culture. Much like Goldoa the wolves now have mixed opinions about their new neighbours along with their queen. Skirmishes in the Desert of Death between Daein and Hatari have been common.
Elincia ruled Crimea without problem, King Geoffrey serving as her rock. The two passed from illness, however, and Lucia had to take up the crown. A nation proud of their royal heritage, the nobles of Crimea have been disapproving of the new bloodline...but they are more concerned with the state of Daein.
For about twenty five years there was indeed peace throughout all of Tellius...and tensions have only been rising. With no goddesses to interfere, the possibility of war dominating Tellius is now all too real. Peace, however, is just as possible. It is up to the citizens of Tellius to decide their fate.
Overall Plot: While this history serves as the bare backbone certain events will be added in/altered based on the players who earn the right to play the leader of a country. The plot itself is the fate of Tellius, left deliberately open so as to lessen the limits on what rpers can do. Until all the slots of leaders are filled I will have NPCs rule. Anything can happen in the roleplays so long as it is logical within the setting and consistent with the history of Radiant Divide, though world changing events (such as an NPC King being usurped or war being declared on a nation) will be left to myself or the moderators, barring I give my consent for such a plot to take place.
Gameplay: Text based, like Way of the Warrior or Radiance of Elibe on FEP. Stat-sheets can be made but they will not affect characters in anyway. Only weapon levels and actual levels are to be taken into consideration for PvP. Also, so as not to cause any hurt feelings, PvP battles should be discussed outside of the rp between the two players so that an agreement on the battle's outcome can be reached.
Levels: The leveling system is to be done via grading of the roleplay by the admin (me) or moderators. The gradings will be based on the quality of writing in posts along with the level of combat done in the roleplay. Weapon levels will also be given like so, based on how much a weapon type was used by the characters. (Ex. A Hero that used a Brave Sword to kill 6 enemies and a Hand Axe to kill 1 would receive around 2/4 or 3/4 levels needed to increase an overall weapon level and 1/4 for the Hand Axe). Depending on what tier you are, or how high your weapon level is, also dictates how many levels you'll gain. Lower level characters gain more easier than higher leveled ones can.
First Tier characters can, at most, gain 5 levels and a whole weapon level from a single rp.
Second Tier characters can, at most, be given 3 levels and a whole weapon level from a single rp. Same goes for Third Tier.
Supports can take place in any roleplay so long as there was extensive interaction between two characters. Admins and Moderators will be the one to assign support opportunities and it is up to the players to follow through and accept the level. Supports do not affect gameplay at all but add to the depth of characters greatly. There can be an unlimited number of Supports of any level, but only ONE S-level Support (i.e: Marriage/Life Partners/Absolute Best Friends/Greatest Rivals, the result of the S support is up to you)
Promotion: As this is a Fire Emblem rp there will be classes. As such, there will be promotions. Promotion can only happen when you reach level 20 of your current tier, and you must apply/request the right to alter the class of your character in a thread. A moderator or myself will give consent or, if it takes two whole days, then you may do so yourself. This ONLY applies for promotion from first tier-second tier. Third tier promotions require permission.
Third Tier: Third Tiers exist, but they need not be the same for every character. Not every Halberdier needs to become a "Sentinel". Characters can request a new weapon be usable to their character as part of their Third Tier class in the promotion thread along with "Skills". These can be in-game skills or made up ones, but either way you need permission to go through with it.
Characters: Characters will be submitted as bios to be graded by myself or the moderators. We will be the judge of the levels given to a character upon approval, and a characters level will be based on age and combat experience prior to the rp. The format will be as such.
Name: Standard and Self-Explanatory. Please try not to copy names of canon-characters from ANY media (i.e: Sasuke Uchiha). Though not at all necessary, it may be interesting for players to consider what each nation in Tellius is based on before deciding on a name (example: Daein will be described as based on Germany, Scandinavia, and Russia. As such names like Valeraine, Siegfried, and Frederick would be more common than names like Joeseph or Gregory). Again, not necessary, but something for players to consider.
Age: Again fairly self-explanatory. 15 is the youngest age allowed for playable characters barring special circumstances and permission from myself, personally. Try to remember that roleplaying as an older character may be difficult for most of us, who I assume would be from teens-30 years old. Consider this before trying to make an older character just to have greater combat experience for higher levels.
Race: Beorc, Laguz, Branded, or Fallen Laguz? Fallen Laguz require players to message a moderator or myself and explain how your character became a Fallen, as the mechanics surrounding them can be fairly complex and they likely require a large history to fully explain. Also beware of Branded. They may have their own nation but they are still few in number compared to Beorc and Laguz.
Class: Ex. Mercenary. I am still creating playable classes, though they will likely be the first two tier classes from Radiant Dawn with a few additions. Laguz will also be present, and I am considering adding some possible classes for them (such as Osprey for a Tiger version of the Hawk tribes). Try to be diverse with classes (an army full of Myrmidons is REALLY dull) and remember that your class is a HEAVY definer for your character. An archer needs to have bows mentioned SOMEWHERE in their history and likely personality. Third Tier classes are customizable and unique for every rper, but NO rper can have a character start at Third Tier. Myself Included.
For a character to start as 2nd Tier Moderator permission before-hand helps. A greater character age and extensive combat history is also required.
Level: Overall level. Levels are to be displayed as "10" for first tiers or "20/1", the latter meaning you are on level 1 of a second tier class. Levels will be assigned by the moderator or admin that graded your profile.
Weapon Level: Weapon Levels. They are to be displayed as such: "Swords-B{1/4}". Like levels, Weapon Levels are to be determined by the grader of your profile.
Weapons: A list of the weapons your character has. They should only have as many weapons as they can feasibly carry on their person. If the character is stated to own a home of some sort than they can have more weapons that are stored in their home.
Appearance: Your characters appearance. Try to include as much as possible, one paragraph minimum required. A good tip is to start from the head and work your way down, commenting on their body shape or figure before getting to clothing/armour. Height is required to be mentioned. Also, particularly for female characters, it's fine to have your character be attractive, but avoid using terms like "real busty" or "big boobies". Use more delicate terms to describe such things. Also note that your character's level of attractiveness, one way or another, should affect them. We are all affected by how we look, after all.
Personality: Okay, now we are REALLY into the meat and potatoes of your character. Your personality section should be two paragraph minimum and NOT just a list of traits. Key things to remember are how they are in social situations, possible political or religious views (religion in Radiant Divide WILL be explained later, on the ACTUAL site itself). Are they lusty? Shy? Battle Hungry? Patriotic? Try to avoid TOO many extremes or your character will likely contradict themself (i.e: Hector is a peaceful and neutral lad, but in battle he becomes a sadistic monster).
Also remember...include flaws. The seven deadly sins make for EXCELLENT basic flaws. Pride. Vanity. Greed. A perfectly heroic character is fine too, but make sure they aren't some godly paragon. Also avoid saying "they are charismatic". Try "they can be viewed as charismatic" or "try to be charismatic" or "have natural charisma". By simply saying they are you are dictating the thoughts of other people's characters, which is a BIG no-no.
If your character changed at all from the start of the rp (which, hopefully, they should have after a few rps) some changes can be made or added upon character promotion. This requires moderator permission, so, you may as well ask when you apply for promotion.
History: This should be the largest section of your profile. Three paragraphs MINIMUM. Your character's history from birth to start of the rp. Include as much as you can but also remember that excruciating detail makes it painful for moderators to read through. "Novel length" histories are okay, so long as they are well paced and well written. Foundations for personality traits, beliefs, combat style, etc., should ALL be included in this. Try to leave some parts of their life more open ended so that they can be resolved in rp. Having a character that accomplished TOO much before even getting to play as them can be dull. This right here is what decides levels, as well.
Details important to the character, their life, and who they are now are the big focuses here...in chronological order from birth to "now".
Current: This is where you can add events from completed rps to the character bio, as a continuation of History.
Notes: Finally, this is where you can add little extras about your character. Whatever you want, basically, from specifics on a personality quirk or a character image soundtrack.
In Conclusion: This is a large amount of the info I have on this rp forum idea. However! I need help...I need mods, participants, ANYONE. I will be petitioning this on other sites and trying to recruit as many people as I can for the idea. If you are interested then say so in this thread or message me. The site will be up if I get even FIVE players, though I hope for many more.
Ask any questions below and I will answer them to the best of my ability. I hate having to advertise on other forums, but, it's how you have to do things now for the most part. Sites rarely get noticed on their own these days. Thank you everyone.
