Name: Leonardo “Leon” Parvici
Class: Knight
Hair Colour: Deep Red
Eye Colour: Emerald Green
Age: 28
Appearance/Clothes: Leon is handsomely built, standing at 6’3 and weighing in at about 210 lbs. He is muscular all around from his heavy training and is in great shape from moving about in his armour. The man’s deep red hair is short and swept back (like Hector’s hair, for example) keeping his short bangs out of his face. His emerald eyes compliment this slight tan and red hair. He has a mole on the tip of his left cheekbone and the beginnings of a red beard.
Leon wears dark green set of armour (chestplate, pauldrons, gauntlets, greaves, thigh plates) with silver trim, often wearing a helmet with it, though sometimes forgoing it as the eye slits take away from his vision. Beneath the suit he wears a beige tunic with long sleeves as well as dark brown slacks for legwear. He carries a medium-sized circular shield that matches the colours of his armour. The armour bears a few scratches from combat, notably on his right gauntlet (lance arm).
When not wearing his armour Leon wears a rather nice green coat, long-sleeved and propped collar, with a red shirt underneath. His beige trousers are much nicer than his combat slacks, and he wears black boots. This outfit costs more than his combat clothing, though less than his armour.
Born In: Lycia (Caelin)
Personality: Leon tries to carry himself with the virtues and values of what he considers to be a noble knight. He is formal, loyal, and does not hide or run from a fight. He’s willing to protect those he cares about in the thick of battle or in social situations. Leon also respects a noble opponent, never taunting them or attacking with savagery or sadistic intent. Locking steel in honourable combat is probably his favourite pastime. That and horseback riding, though he owns no combat horse and sticks to fighting on the ground.
However, in a one-on-one social situation, Leon is somewhat shy. He tends to be quieter and prefers to listen rather than speak, though his words are always meaningful and honest when he does talk. He also finds himself coveting women, even distracted by the more beautiful ones when in combat, but his strict adherence to his knightly ideal coupled with his shyness makes him a poor courter. Often times, due to his shyness or moral code, he will never even speak to a woman he fancies. This trait of his makes him a fantastic soldier but his lack of charisma makes him a poor leader, even if he is tactically sound.
Leon is also rather patriotic. He doesn’t care so much for Caelin itself so much as Lycia as a whole, believing it to be a superior country even with its divided fiefdoms. Leon’s wary of the tensions between Ilia and Bern though he won’t do anything about it unless ordered to do so.
Story: Born in Caelin to the minor noble Parvici family, Leon was raised by Vincent and Katarina Parvici. His father was a merchant while Katarina served as an advisor to Marquess Caelin, having the potential to raise her family’s status if she does a good job. Leon’s parents were often busy which left the boy to be cared for by friends of the family, most notably his uncle Jordan.
His uncle was a retired merchant, ten years his father’s elder, so Jordan was able to take Leon to different places throughout Caelin whenever his parents were too busy at work. Leon learned much Caelin, Lycia, and people as they traveled but he never really made any friends outside of his home city. One of Leon’s favourite places to visit was Castle Caelin, watching the knights run drills or patrol the area. He particularly enjoyed the horses.
Jordan, having noticed Leon’s love for knighthood, purchased the boy a training lance to play with when he was about 10. The family was rather surprised when Leon took the wooden weapon seriously, practicing swings and thrusts for hours at a time whenever he was free. His mother and father approached him one day and stated that they had enough pull to put Leon through knight training when he was older, and the lad couldn’t have been happier.
Sure enough, once Leon turned 14, he was taken in by the Caelin Knights and trained further in the way of the lance. The lad did have the opportunity to become a squire and learn to ride and fight but, with his build and self-taught lance experience, they wanted him on the ground as heavy infantry. So Leon was taught to stand, run, fight, and live in the heavy green armour that he was given. Though a bit unhappy that he couldn’t be a cavalry soldier Leon held his tongue, refusing to complain to his superiors.
He was a full-fledged knight by the age of 18 and was stationed in a town outside of the castle proper, but close enough that he could be called in should his Marquess need him. Aside from the odd bandit attack or laying down the law for a common day criminal Leon didn’t see much action, but his dedication was noted by his guard captain and honesty was noted by his guard captain. Indeed, Leon took what he knew of his training officer back at the castle and the image of his noble guard captain to heart, believing that the older men represented what all true knights stood for. It hardened his resolve, which came to serve him in due time.
When Leon was 23 he received word that his father had passed away. Katarina and Jordan attended the funeral, as did Leon. It was in Vincent’s will for Leon to inherit the merchant business, which left the young man feeling conflicted. It would honour his father to keep the business in the family and run it properly, however, Leon was a knight and enjoyed his way of life. After a week’s decision, however, the man came to a compromise. He would run the business and retire as a knight of Caelin, but he would not set down his lance or his armour. Leon would expand the business so that others could manage it while he traveled with trade caravans to guard them.
It was not an easy task for quiet Leon to give orders to so many people as well as manage funds, however, and to this day he considers selling the business off to serve strictly as a bodyguard. What he is sure of is that he will always carry himself as a knight, regardless of whether or no the holds the title of one.
