Kenneth studied the knight. Bold to take on an enemy with a hammer.
"Understood," Kenneth said as the knight marched off. The squire looked back at his opponent. The man was readying his bow and Kenneth did the same with his lance. He spurred Dimani and charged at the nomad. He lowered himself slightly in hopes of dodging the arrow. He didn't.
The arrow lodged in Kenneth's shoulder and the boy almost blacked out from pain. He kept going, though, and was able to pierce the nomad in the side with his lance. The man doubled over and missed his next shot from his bow. Kenneth turned Dinami around to face the nomad. The man had ran his horse back and shot Kenneth in the side as the boy turned. Blood seeped in his clothes. The pain was so intense, but Kenneth was determined to keep going. He charged at the nomad and knocked another arrow aside with his lance. He stabbed the nomad in the stomach. The man doubled over and Kenneth withdrew his lance. He span it in his hand, fire burning in his eyes from pain and adrenaline, and stabbed the nomad once again in the heart as the man sat back up. He froze before collapsing off of his horse. Kenneth ran Dinami back from the battle a little bit and inspected himself. The two arrows were firmly lodged in him, and Kenneth didn't want to make the wound worse by attempting to pull it out. The squire then noticed he was crying. The pain had been very large, as bad as the time his face was slashed, with a painful throbbing being produced as well. He spurred Dinami and the two ran back to the battle, with Kenneth fighting to push the pain down.

The battle escaladed quickly as the blaze of fire constantly pushed both units forward. Axe had engaged the cavalier, and for the moment seemed to hold her own. Sword and Jinala engaged the blade units. Kenneth charged toward the nomad breaking the distance gap between them and Euphemious moved down the center facing the lead Bandit himself.
As the battle first started Euphemious mind was on his comrades. He worried whether or not if they would be ok facing against their individual unit, but that worry soon eroded as Euphemious was pressed into a fierce battle of his own.
The first to strike was in fact not the Bandit. Euphemious realized he was at a grave disadvantage and decided that offense would be the better defense against his opponents hammer. He began with a thrust attack with his spear, which was easily dodged. The bandit had been in many battles in his day, and has seen that same strike more times than he cared to remember.
The bandit attacked looking to take advantage of Euphemious opening. Using logic and reasoning Euphemious realized that the Bandit would counter attack after he missed his spear strike. This however would normally lead to his death as hammers are known to pop open the thick armor knights wore.
Euphemious immediately stepped forward rather than pull back and attempt to block with his shield. As he stepped forward he brought his shield with him and slammed it into the chest of the Bandit. The Bandit had expected him to attempt to block. He had no idea that Euphemious would counter by using his shield as a budged.
"Damn", spoke the Bandit as he took a step back. The force from the shield had knocked the wind out of him. Euphemious attacked again with his spear attempting to impale the Bandit. With little room to move the bandit deflected the tip of Euphemious spear once again he created an opening. Euphemious stepped in once more attempting to bash his opponent with is shield, but such tricks only work once. As Euphemious steeped in the bandit took a leap back. Euphemious shield hit nothing but air, and the wily bandit launched its attack without a moment’s hesitation.
"Gwaaaa", shouted Euphemious as the hammer smashed into his shoulder plate. The force of the blow went straight through the armor and damaged Euphemious insides directly. A sick smile crossed the Bandit face as he soon realized he had the advantage.
"One more shot", he spoke as he attempted to pull back on his axe, but Euphemious was not dead yet. As the bandit motioned to pull out his axe Euphemious grabbed hold of the iron shaft ignoring the pain. "What the hell", spoke the Bandit as he struggled to pull his axe from Euphemious grip. The knight adrenalin was high, and the Bandit had no chance of him releasing his grip.
As the Bandit struggled to pull his axe from Euphemious shoulder blade the knight took the opportunity and stabbed him in the stomach with his iron spear. The bandit retaliated by punching the armored man in the head with his fist, but the damage had already been done.

Kenneth watched Euphimous get chopped right in the shoulder. The bandit had a hammer, so that had to be painful. Kenneth charged by and gave the bandit a quick slash across the back. Kenneth continued to gallop across the field and charged toward the cavalier fighting Axe. He had drawn his sword and was beginning to overwhelm the maiden. She struggled to hold the sword away from hitting her face. Kenneth spurred Dinami to prompt the horse to run faster. The boy cringed as he lowered his lance. The arrows were beginning to take their toll. Kenneth managed to make a slash across the cavalier's back. He arced it in pain and Axe planted her axe in his stomach. He pulled it out and gave a weak slash in Axe's direction. She easily dodged the blow due to the man's wounds greatly affecting him. Kenneth pierced the man's side and Axe chopped his other side. He toppled off of his horse, lifeless. Axe smiled at Kenneth.
"Thanks," she said. Kenneth nodded, then looked over at Jinala and Sword. They were handling their opponents well enough, Sword fighting full on frontal assault and Jinala dodging around her opponent and striking at his open spots. Kenneth tried to move Dinami over to them, but the arrows in him had become very painful. He cringed in pain and Axe noticed it. A look of worry crossed her face.
"Are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
But it was obvious that the squire was not fine. He slumped over in the saddle and fell out of it, blacking out for a moment. Axe squeaked in shock and caught him. The maiden quickly carried him away from the battle and set him down on the hillside. Kenneth's eyes shot open and he began to try and get up, but pain forced him back down. Dinami had followed and nuzzled his master's head. Kenneth sucked up the pain for a moment before trying to get back up. Axe gently stopped him.
"No, sir," she scolded, "You're not going anywhere."
The maiden continued to fuss over him as Kenneth watched the battle. He hoped the rest of them would be okay.

"Little Bastard", shouted the bandit as he turned toward Kenneth that was all Euphemious needed. He took a long deep breath and pushed through the pain. Euphemious let out a loud roar as he thrusted his lance forward. The bandit turned around, but was too late. Euphemious lance sailed through the air pierced through his throat. Instantly the bandit fell to his knees and died.
"Close", spoke Euphemious as he turned to see Jinala and Sword still fighting their opponent. The battle was still not over. "Guess I will help the thief girl", spoke Euphemious as he began to walk away from the bandit corpse. As he walked his foot felt something on the ground. He stopped for the moment and picked it up. It was the sword, the very blade that caught him and his cousin’s attention. Euphemious quickly stuffed it into his bag. He had no time to examine it. There was a battle going on, and his allies needed his help.
"Die", shouted Sword as she smashed her axe against her opponent’s sword. She was skilled and powerful, but his blade made it almost impossible for her to get an opening.
"Why you little", spoke the bandit, but a spear point through his chest soon ended all conversation.
"Yoah", spoke Euphemious as he pulled his Iron Spear out the bandit’s chest. Behind him was Jinala who seemed to have already finished her opponent.
"Am I the last one", asked Sword.
"Seems so", spoke Euphemious. He turned and looked at the hill where Axe and Kenneth were at. "It seems the young squire took out the nomad, and here I thought I would have to help."
"You help", spoke Sword as she began to chuckle. "Not in that armor", she spoke as she laid her hands on his left shoulder
"Ouch", moaned Euphemious as his face twisted with pain.
"Whoa", responded Sword as she took notice to the wound. "Gre... I mean Euphemious you are hurt."
"Nothing I can't handle", spoke Euphemious as he began to walk toward Kenneth location. "I took a nasty strike from that hammer."
"Really", spoke Sword as she followed. "I figured you would be dead if you got hit by that thing. Looks like you are tougher than I thought."
"Ahh ever the words of encouragement", spoke Euphemious in a sarcastic tone. "In truth though I probably would have been dead if not for Kenneth. His attack on the bandit left an opening for me to finish him off."
"I see", spoke Sword as the trio arrived at Kenneth position. "Sword attention was then turned toward the arrows that were still in Kenneth side.”Oh no", she spoke as she rushed forward to help.
"So you too", spoke Euphemious as he stared at the lad. He was holding his own shoulder and dealing with his own pain. "You know I think I probably should have planned that better", he spoke as he pulled out his vulnerary.

"It's nothing you could have planned for," Kenneth responded. Sword and Axe were trying to help, but every time they touched an arrow, Kenneth cringed. He tried to smile, "It was probably best I fought the nomad or else I might have left with few few less limbs and innards. How are you faring? The hammer must have hurt a lot."
Kenneth's eyes flicked around and landed on Jinala, "Why are you still here? Haven't you accomplished what you set out to do?"
The thief shrugged, "I've got nothing to do now, so I figured I'd hang around you guys for a while. You seem like fun."
Jinala smiled and began to flip her knife around in her fingers. Kenneth could tell there was no arguing with her, so he turned his attention to himself.
"Vulenaries won't heal these," Kenneth observed, "We need to pull the arrows out first."
He pondered for a moment before looking at Euphimous, "It'd going to hurt like hell, isn't it?"

"Still walking", spoke Euphemious as he took a look at Kenneth's arrow wounds. They were in there pretty good and from what Euphemious could tell the young squire was in a lot of pain. Euphemious took a deep breath and looked Kenneth in the eyes. Kenneth responded by asking him an obvious question.
"It'd going to hurt like hell, isn't it?"
"You have no idea", spoke Euphemious as he moved Axe and Sword out of the way. He moved his hand toward the first arrow, and stopped right before he touched it. He sat there for a moment and stared into the young boy's eyes. He spoke nothing and simply waited for the right moment. Kenneth began to open his mouth to speak Euphemious quickly grabbed the first arrow and pulled it out with lightning speed. Without a single pause he pulled out the second arrow. As the pain rolled over Kenneth Euphemious turned toward Axe and Sword.
"What are you waiting for, stop the bleeding." Immediately the two war maidens jumped into action attempting to stop Kenneth from bleeding out. Euphemious walked over to a nearby stone and placed the arrow on the ground. He then opened his bag and took a good look at the sword. "Just as I remembered", he spoke as he stared at the blade. He swung it a few times to make sure it was real and then placed the sword back into its sheath and once again inside of the bag.
"First Objective Complete", spoke Euphemious as he stared at the dying fire. The group was quite lucky that there was baron patched between the tall grass in the ruins and the grass that spread across the whole area. If not then the fire may have spread, and that would have been a bigger problem. None the less it was time for the group to fall back.
"Hay have you stopped the bleeding", spoke Euphemious as he walked back over to the group.

Kenneth's mouth hung open, not really processing the fact that the arrow in his shoulder was just ripped out. A few stunned moments later and the pain finally hit him. A loud scream escaped his lips. He was barley aware of the fact that Sword and Axe were rushing to stop the bleeding. The severity of the pain eventually subsided until in was like a dull flame. Kenneth felt himself drenched in sweat, his hair matted down on his forehead. He watched Euphimous swing a blade around and he seemed satisfied with it.
Must be the Champion's Sword that he was looking for
Kenneth could feel the bleeding in his shoulder stop. Euphimous walked over to double check on him. Kenneth looked at him again.
"Time for the second one, huh?"

"Already pulled it out kid", spoke Euphemious as he held out a vulnerary. "Here drink this it should help."
"So", spoke Euphemious as he turned toward the thief. "So what do you plan on doing now", he asked. "You can go your separate ways or you can hand around. The choice is yours, but I would like an answer. Don't want to just be walking along and turn around a see you. That gets a bit creepy after a while. Oh, I almost forgot", spoke Euphemious as he turned toward the rest of the group. There is a nice restaurant in a town that is about an hour or two away. We where planning on going there and celebrating after this hole event was over. Kenneth you and Jinala are welcome to join, my treat."
"Oh you are actully paying for it", spoke Sword as she stared at Eephemious. "Are you sure that brigand did not hit you in the head. That is very unlike you."
"Yeah", spoke Axe as she joined in. "Mr. Cheap never pays for meals. He aways makes other people pay for their own, and sometimes even his."
"Don't test my kindness", spoke Euphemious.

Kenneth looked at his side. So he had pulled the second arrow out. A dull throbbing came into existence there and the squire gratefully accepted the vulenary. He drank it and felt the wounds close up and offer sweet relief. As he recovered, Jinala spoke to Euphimous.
"Trust me," she said, smirking, "I won't be like some person I heard about in a story where they followed someone around in black clothes and a white face."
Jinala's smile faltered a little, "So, you're paying for dinner, eh? I'll tag along for that."
Kenneth managed to get to his feet and whistled for Dinami. The horse galloped over and nuzzled his master, glad he was okay. Kenneth pet his nose and looked at Euphimous.
"Thank you, sir," the squire said, "Dinner is most appreciated. In return, I will give the ladies a ride to the town."
Kenneth gave a little glance at Sword and she caught what he was implying. She pointed northeast, "The town is that way. We'll arrive soon enough if we leave now."
"Very well," Kenneth replied. He reached into Dinami's saddle bags and retrieved the spare saddle. He rigged it up on the horse and held his hand out to Axe.
"Milady," he bowed. So the etiquette training hadn't been a waste. Axe accepted his hand and he helped her onto Dinami. She sat in the second saddle, then Kenneth helped Sword up. She sat in front of Axe and Kenneth reached a hand to Jinala. She denied it. Kenneth stared quizzingly at the thief, then shrugged and hoisted himself on his horse. When he settled in, Jinala jumped up, using Kenneth's foot as leverage, and landed in Kenneth's lap, sitting side ways so both legs dangled off the same side of Dimani. She smirked at Kenneth. He hid the pain that she had cause him and felt Sword wrap her arms around his stomach. They were ready. The squire looked at Euphimous.
"We will see you in town, good sir," Kenneth said as he turned Dinami towards the city. He spurred his horse before the knight could object and they took off for the city, all four laughing at Euphimous' expense.
(OoC: You think we should end it here or go on?)

OC: Yeah I think Purged by Fire should end here. If you want to Rp on another topic let me know. I am up with Rp with you again. I did however want to do a scene with them eating.
"Freaken pretty boy show off", murmured Euphemious as Kenneth road away. A bit of jealousy and protectiveness rose up in him as Kenneth road away with both of his cousins. However it was soon suppressed when he remembered he was only thirteen, but then again he was now around that age. None the less it was time for Euphemious to get moving himself. Even if the horse was not moving at full speed it was still quite a bit faster than he was. He began by stretching his arms and walking toward the direction of the town.
"So", spoke Euphemious as he began to walk. His attention was now on his new companion Jinala. "Any reason for denying the horse ride. I mean it is a lot better than walking with me."
Euphemoius attempted to keep a conversation going till he arrived at the town. However the task proved a bit difficult for him as the only topics he could truly converse on with a proper balance of knowledge was construction, politics, farming, and War. Under normal circumstances one would think this was enough to keep a good conversation, but most of the material was technical stuff which made for boring conversation.
As Euphemious arrived in town he was greeted by Axe who had a delightful smile on her face. "Oh so you actually showed up," spoke Axe. "In truth I though you would weasel out of it like you did last time."
"Hay", spoke Euphemious. "Don't try and make it look like I am the one at fault for last time we ate out. I told you specifically not to order anything on the right side of the menu."
"Well not this time", spoke Axe.
"Hay come on or we will not get a table", spoke Sword as she dragged Axe away. Euphemious quickly followed and greeted Kenneth as he entered the building.

Kenneth smiled as the knight walked up to the restaurant.
"So, how was your walk," the squire said cheekily. He thought what he had done was funny, "Thank you for dinner, by the way. It's very kind of you to pay."
The five of them walked into the restaurant together. They sat down and ordered their food. Kenneth, unsure of what to get and a little too young to have alcohol, ordered some milk and chicken soup. He looked at Euphimous.
"Today was a success, correct ?"

"A success in deed", spoke Euphemious as he pulled the sword out of his bag and presented to his cousins and Kenneth. "We have retrieved the champion's sword and quelled the bandits pledging the area. I think that counts as a success."
Before Euphemious took his seat at the table he pulled the chair out for Jinala. If Kenneth could act like a gentleman when he is in a foreign land than Euphemious, being a native of Bern no less, could act as a gentleman as well.
"I want chicken soup, some meat buns, and a side of ribs", spoke Axe to the waiter. Her voice reminded Euphemious that he had not orderd yet. "Oh and some ale", spoke Axe ending her conversation with the waiter.
"Change that Ale to milk", spoke Sword to the waiter.
"Hay", spoke Axe.
"You are still too young to drink", spoke Euphemious. "In fact make my drink milk as well. Milk is good for the bones and besides I am better with a clear mind."
"I will take apple juice", spoke Sword.
"Ha milk drinkers", chuckled a burly man from a nearby table. Euphemious however ignored him as he and his companions already proved their worth on the battle field.
"Give me some baked fish and some chicken soup", spoke Euphemious.
"Same for me", added Sword.

(So sorry for the late reply. I couldn't think of how to respond and then a lot of things came up)
The food came and Kenneth sipped at his soup. He watched the family bicker prettily and smile in amusement. They seemed to be very close. No family argued like that unless they were. Kenneth thought of his family and a small sadness grew inside him. He hadn't really interacted with his family since he left for the training school. He had gotten letters almost every week but hadn't physically interacted with his parents since then. Honestly, the squire felt a little homesick. He took a drink of milk and decided to ask the question that had been nagging at him.
"Euphimous, why is the sword so important to you. You don't have to tell me, I'm just curious. If you'd rather not say, I respect that," Kenneth said. He smiled slyly, "But I will say that I can keep a secret."

Euphemious stopped for a moment and began to mediate on Kenneth question. In truth he did not want to tell anyone else about the sword or about his noble house in general, but he figured the young boy had the right to know. He did risk his life against the bandits and aided them in its recovery.
“Kenneth this does not leave this table”, spoke Euphemious.
“You are going to tell him”, asked Sword with a bit of surprise. She did not expect her cousin to simply tell someone about that, but Kenneth did just aid them.
“The blade belonged to the Lowlander family”, spoke Euphemious. “The Lowlanders were the noble family that uses to rule over this region, and this sword is proof of the Lowlander heritage.”
“Proof of our heritage”, added Axe in the end. “We are the last members of the Lowlander Family.”
“The last members alive”, added Sword as she stared at the overly exited Axe. “Most of the others were hunted down and killed after the family fell from grace.”
“For that very reason we have hid our real names and are traveling the land under a disguise”, spoke Euphemious ending their little rant.
“You did not think my real name was Sword did you”, asked Sword as she stared at Kenneth?

Kenneth nodded in understanding. The troubles he'd heard of lords' lives were quite large and disguises were nessacary. Kenneth shrugged at Sword's question.
"I was fairly certain it was a pseudo name. It would be rather foolish of a parent to name their child Sword or Axe. They're not befitting names of fair maidens such as you two."
The cavalier's school had been a harsh place, but it had taught Kenneth how to be polite and almost literally beat the lesson of always be a gentleman to women into his head. He sipped some of his soup before continuing.
"That must be hard to be the last left of your family. I'm glad to have helped you."
Jinala chuckled a bit off to the side.
"You're a pretty trusting guy to give that kind of knowledge to complete strangers, Euphimous. I'm not going to sell you out, though. You four saved me from those awful bandits and even I have an honor code."
