It had been two week since Butorega had taken in the group, and he was starting to regret it. His provisions which he had estimated to last him for two mouths were at its end. Feeding eleven people was not an easy task. To make things worse he had to spend coin on beds and furniture. Butorega was starting to realize the challenges of raising a force. Before hand he only thought of number of men and how he was going to get the walls to hold them, but he did not think of supplies. Each person needed food and water. They also needed weapons and sleeping arrangements. These little things that need to be taken care of were not in his mind when he dreamed up his army. Still there was time to learn and Butorega was more than willing to take on the task.
In the course of a week Butorega had successfully learned everyone’s name and age, but also assigned them specific weapons and equipment. If they were going to stay in the castle they at the very least needed to know how to defend it and themselves. Butorega was not going to be the only person fighting if a group of brigands came to their door.
The first was calm kid with a very laid back personality. His name was Aart, and he was 15 years of age. The moment Butorega put a bow in his hand he realized that this was this young man’s calling. Aart has black hair and pale skin. In that manner he reminded Butorega of Yunneth. His eyes however were a bright yellow and had the look of an eagle. This gave him a very fearsome demeanor.
The next was Aart older sister Artair. She was brash to say the least. Artair had a very confrontational personality. She likes to pick fights with others and enjoyed the combat training over all the others. She was one of the two that came back for more training after Butorega had dismissed everyone else. She reminded Butorega of himself in his younger days, and for that reason he gave her an axe. Artair is sixteen, the proper fighting age. She like her brother had black hair and yellow eyes. However he skin was more tanned than his. When Butorega question it she told him she got the trait from their mother’s grandfather.
Next in line was Godric. Godric was brave and seem to be fearless. In practice he always charged in head first. His eyes were hungry to get stronger; this was probably a result of him being enslaved. Godrick is sixteen years old making him proper fighting age. Butorega decided that it would be best to place him on horseback. They had seven spare steeds from the slavers and Godric got one of the two warhorses. Godric has deep purple hair and light purple eyes. His skin is around the same tone as Artair. Godric most outstanding trait is his ears. His ears were pointed like Drax where. Butorega wanted to ask him about them, but from the conversation with the others he determined that it was a touchy subject with him.
Marian was next in line. She was one of the younger kids. She was at a ripe age of fourteen and had a personality of a troll. She took enjoyment in just messing with people and that playful attitude even extended to Butorega after a week. Butorega decided to give her one of the traveling horses. She would not see any real battle till two years from now in Butorega’s eyes. By then he could have bought her an actual fighting steed. Marian has bright orange hair that she kept in a single ponytail and navy blue eyes. Her skin town was an exact match to Butorega’s making the two look like siblings. Marian takes great pleasure in calling Butorega big brother as she knows it bothers him.
Next was Payne the quiet. He was the first to be saved by Butorega and the youngest in the group. Payne was thirteen years old and by far the weakest of them all. That was to be expected thou. His age would not allow for as much muscle growth. In Butorega’s mind Payne was a gem. He could train the boy up from scratch like his grandfather had done him. Butorega gave the lad a lance the very first weapon his grandfather gave him. Payne had brown skin and bright green eyes. His hair was a dark shade of green and reminded Butorega of a tree leaf. It became common to call him tree around the castle as Butorega accidently started the nick name in the first few days before he figured out his name.
Next was Zara. She was the oldest of the group and was seventeen years old and only a month away from eighteen. She had a very motherly personality. She essentially became Butorega right hand woman when it came to dealing with problems. She helped keep track of how everyone was doing and informed Butorega on everyone’s status. Her major problem was her lack of aggression. Butorega had a hard time getting a feel of how he should train her to fight. Eventually he decided to place her on one of the civil horses and let her fight with a lance. It made things easier as well when they would go to town to resupply. She could ride her own horse and protect herself if anybody ever decided to attack them. Zara was nice to look at, but was nothing special when it came to terms of being attractive. She had brown hair and light brown eyes. She was pretty much the staple village girl.
Next was Floyd. With his name enough was said. Floyd had a bad habit of trying to it on every girl in the castle, the village, or any female that walked by him. Butorega guessed it was because he was 16, you know hormones and all, but he was starting to think it was a personality flaw. Butorega put Floyd on a horse, there was something familiar about it his personality and mounted, however he did not allow him to use a lance. Butorega felt giving him a lance was an insult to all uses of the weapon everywhere. Instead he gave him a bow and ended up with a mounted archer. Since Floyd would not be in close combat Butorega decided it would be best to give him a civil mount. Floyd was by far not bad looking. In fact many of the females called him bishonen, thought Butorega had no idea what it meant. Floyd had bright silver hair and blue eyes. His skin was a flawless cream color and his teeth a brilliant white. His attempt with the ladies would probably work if they did not already know he was flirting with the others. The only ones who were susceptible to his tactics were those from the nearby village, but Butorega took it upon himself personally to ruin any of his attempts.
Next was Ora. She was moody to say the least. Like Payne she was one of the younger ones. She was fourteen years of age and far from Butorega’s ideal fighting age. Ora however had a talent with the bow and had an obsession with hunting though she would never tell you. She was shy around other people at time and only really spoke when she was alone with someone. She was friends with Payne, but mostly spent her time with Aart. The two provided most of the meat for everyone to eat. Ora was the younger sister of Floyd though she never claimed him. Floyd on the other hand never stops talking about her and how pretty she is. Like Floyd she has silver hair however she had red eyes which she got from their mother.
Row was next and amongst them the entire group he was the most skilled fighter. When Butorega began teaching them fighting skills Row stepped up and challenged him in his sword play. To Butorega’s surprise Row was as skilled as him with the blade, but Butorega’s speed and strength out matched him by far. Row was the other person who was the second person to receive a war horse. His steed was a dark red horse that had eyes of fire, not literally. Row had a very serious personality and took his martial training with the upmost importance. Row was the other person who stayed after Butorega finished combat drills. When Butorega laid down a contingency plan if the castle was ever attacked he named Row the defector leader if something happened to him. Row was seventeen years of age and only younger than Zara by five days. After further questioning Butorega discovered that Row’s father was once captain of the guard of their town and learned his martial skills from his father. Row could be best described as red. He had tan skin and bright red hair. His eyes were a murderous crimson and his ears like Godric were pointed. He was the one who informed Butorega not to ask as he and Godric were cousins by his mother. Row’s only true fault was that he had the personality of a brick.
The last and probably Butorega’s greatest head ache was Verona. She was an air head with a plucky personality. Like Zara she lacked any true aggression for Butorega to get a feel of how she should fight. Instead he gave her a sword and she has been fumbling around with that ever since. Despite Butorega’s pretence to train Paynehe and Row, he spends most of his time training her. Her lack of skill and coordination scares him greatly. He fears one day she would literally fall upon her own sword.
