Touring The City of Heroes [Open]

[Harmonia]

The waitress nodded and headed off to place their order with the chef. For her part, Harmonia was prompt on answering Burgid. "I'm Harmonia! I want to meet a real live hero!" Her cheery enthusiasm was kind of infectious, really. "All the stories and stuff are neat! But meeting a real one would be even neater!" Well, at least she was easy to read for Burgid.

[Kenshin]

Kenshin had been out playing with his daughter when he had heard the news of people looking for him. From what he had heard it was three outsiders, one appearing to be a Sacean. He picked up his daughter "Daddy has something that he needs to do. We're going home first." The two went to their home where Kenshin told her to go help mommy with what she was doing. He then grabbed his sword, something he hasn't felt the need to touch since he had returned home. Honestly he would prefer not needing it but he wasn't sure what these people wanted. Once he went back out he had somebody show him where they were, an inn. He took a deep breath before advancing towards their table.

Kenshin had pulled out a chair and took a seat, he looked at all three girls for a moment before speaking, they looked harmless. "From what I've heard you've been looking for me. Now that you have found me, what are you seeking?" As he asked the question his gaze stopped on Tamaya, he was looking her in the eyes. If any of them would tell him the truth, chances are she would be the most likely one to do so.

[Tamaya]

"Kenshin..."

Tamaya's eyes widened. The great hero of legend was standing in front of her. Bowing deeply, she raised her arms in a ceremonial greeting.

"It is a great honor to meet you, Kenshin. I actually arrived in this city, my first city ever, in order to learn. I met Harmonia, and she told me all about her quest to find you. So she would be the one to ask. I am sorry I cannot help you more, Lord Kenshin."

[Harmonia]

Every now and then a new person would enter the inn and Harmonia would look over curiously. After a bit, a very crimson guy walked in. She could see a sword with him and the way he walked spoke of skill and strength. A confidant stride that spoke more than boastful words often did. He then sat at their table.

"From what I've heard you've been looking for me."

Ooooo! Was this Kenshiro?

"Kenshin..."

Right! That! Judging by the way Tamy acted, it had to be! Harmonia gave an even grander smile as she waved with a hand after her name was mentioned.

"Hello! I'm Harmonia! It's nice to meet you, Mr. Kenshin!" The young woman lowered her hand after her cheery greeting. "I always wanted to meet a real hero! What was it like?" And she was quick to follow up her answer with a question of her own.

[Burgid]

The other one was Harmonia, and a very cheery. She pulled her left hand back in front of her, away from her weapon,  knowing she was not in danger. However this was short lived. Not long after a powerful looking man with a sword walked in and saw her, and advanced on the table. She sort of scrambled, but was stuck with the chair behind her. She then remained seated, and slowly moved her chair, trying to reclaim her posture. The man sat down and Tamaya reveled who he was. Kenshin.

Well Burgid was stuck, the only way out was past Kenshin. Her eyes scanned around, looking for an escape route. Finding none she just sat and let Harmonia do the talking. She fidgeted in her seat, glancing quickly at his weapon occasionally. 

[Kenshin]

Kenshin had studied the three girls as they talked to him, he was only able to find out one of their names and one remained silent. Hamronia was the only one who seemed to be actively searching for him while the Sacaen was there to study... Something about the third one came off as suspicious, the way she didn't talk and her eyes kept darting around the room. Kenshin didn't want to make it obvious that he thought they were up to something so he shifted a little in his chair where his left hand was closer to the hilt of his blade as he began to answer Harmonia's question. "There are far greater heroes out there than I am, I only sought to protect those dear to me which lead to me aiding others in protecting everybody. But to answer your question, it's like asking a rock what is it like being a rock. It only knows how to be a rock, I only know how to keep loved ones safe from harm." His gaze shifted from Harmonia to the silent one and back.

[Tamaya]

As Kenshin spoke, Tamaya nodded. The wisdom in his words struck her, and she agreed.

"Kenshin? May I ask you a question?" she asked. "Excuse my impoliteness. I am Tamaya of the Cathecassa. I came to this city to explore. Now that I can use your wisdom... I want to see the world. How should I achieve this goal?"

As she spoke, Tamaya felt uneasiness radiating off of the other girl. What was wrong with her?

[Burgid]

Burgid was fighting and everyone seemed to be looking at here. She had to stop, she needed to put on one of her acts. That is all this was, a show with an crowd that could kill her. She took a breath and suddenly became very calm. Her entire body stopped being nervous all at once and became completely still to very highly contrast her a few seconds ago. In a slightly diffrent voice than what she had used earlier she spook to Kenshin.

"Well, surly you had to start somewhere. How and why did you start?"

[Harmonia]

Harmonia hummed in thought as she took in Kenshin's words. He was right, that was kind of a simple question with a simple answer. Hmmm... She briefly looked over at the other two women at the table, asking a couple questions of their own. "Ooo. And why pick out the sword?" She was quite curious of his answer on this one. She sometimes wondered why it was that people tended to favor such a thing. She was never really minded only using a sword herself, but why did daddy ever pick that one out? Oh well, couldn't ask him now!

[Kenshin]

Kenshin had placed his right hand on the edge of the table, tapping his fingers on it. "I have no clue Tamaya. I never had the idea to just pick up and travel." He had sought out to answer the other questions as well and explain his last statement. "I was the cheifton's son, he wanted me to be able to lead our tribe in ways he couldn't. From a young age he had hired a mentor to teach me in the way of combat using a sword. He wanted me to gain the trust of the people by fighting along side them if the need ever arose, I had failed my tribe when I had fled when it was attacked by bandits. I honed my skill with the blade as I fought against the bandits up to the day Hargus met his end. At that point both my wife and I had no home to return to, I had decided to use all of the knowledge passed down to my from my father to start a new tribe, one that was stationary for those who no longer had a home in Sacae."

If he could keep things vague then that would mean he wasn't technically lying to them and allowed them to keep this image of how 'great' he was. Taking a deep breath he allowed his left hand to sink closer towards his sword. "Tamaya, surely you didn't set out on a journey just to ask me how to so?"

[Tamaya]

"No, Kenshin. I... I left the Cathecassa to travel for a while.

There was a wildfire, and we all moved away, living for a time near the border. And... I became curious. So... I left. I return from time to time, but I feel like I have this hunger to see the rest of the world."

Clearly uncomfortable with talking about her decision, Tamaya's normally placid and gentle eyes became troubled. It was clear that she wasn't confident that she had made the right choice, and her voice trailed off aimlessly, leaving the conversation dangling.

[Harmonia]

Harmonia hummed a bit as she considered Kenshin's answers. He actually reminded her of a couple of things that daddy did and said! But that was a long time ago. And it was pretty sad that he had no home to return to! She still did, though! The young girl then looked over at Tamaya after the question of her own journey came up. She seemed really nervous!

The conversation drifted into an awkward silence before Harmonia decided to speak up again. "What kind of stuff did you learn on your journey? Daddy always said it was important to learn from everything we do!"

[Burgid]

Listening in passively Burgid picked up on the fact Tamaya was not fully confident with her choice. "You know, there are many wondrous things out there, and until you find them, you will never know." Burgid tried to reassure her. In an almost unhearible tone she continued under her breath. "At least you have a home you can go back to." She shook her head at her own comment and regained her composure and continued to listen in. She really wished for Kenshin to leave his weapon alone.

[Kenshin]

"You don't have to see the world all at once. Travel a bit and see things then return home to be with your loved ones, they'll be delighted knowing you're okay. As I would roam the plains trying to ensure others didn't meet the same fate as my loved ones I would always make sure to come home to see my family."

Harmonia's question was difficult, he didn't want to blurt out how he learned how terrible of a person he really was. People looked up to him as a hero, despite how much he wished they didn't, they needed something to strive to become and hopefully they could accomplish what he couldn't during the bandit wars. He brought both elbows onto the table as he laced his fingers together and had his thumbs sticking out towards him resting his chin on them. He bobbed his head up and down with his thumbs as he let out a 'Hmm....' it was a short amount of time before he began to talk again. "Don't take anything for granted, cherish every moment with those you love as if it was going to be your last." The only moment that came to mind was during the final battle against Hargus. He finally made it to the end of his journey, he was more than willing to die to ensure he would take Hargus into the afterlife with him. The time he spent with Katara was good and all but he took advantage of her love by willing to throw it away for the sake of revenge, it was in the moment when he was looking to say his final good bye to her when she told him she was with child that he realized his mistake.

[Tamaya]

"Don't take anything for granted, cherish every moment with those you love as if it was going to be your last."

That... Was hard. Tamaya was torn. Should she stay... Stay on the plains, where she felt at home, but restless, or leave... seeking that elusive satisfaction?

"I... Thank you," the young woman whispered. "Now I know what I must do," she finished, kissing Kenshin's hand before rising up from her seat. Taking three arrows from her quiver, she gave one to Burgid, one to Harmonia, and one to Kenshin.

"If I ever see you again... I hope you will remember me. For I will never forget you."

With tears welling in her eyes, the Sacaean resolutely left the tavern, getting on Shikoba and preparing to leave. She knew now that Kenshin had taught her the most important lesson she could have learned... She needed to explore, so that when she was ready, she could go back to the plains and be content. She couldn't stay in the middle in limbo anymore. She had to go.

She had to live.
