"Ah, I should clarify a bit then." Elias crossed his arms and shut his eyes tilting his head to either side while humming very quietly to his self. Bringing up a mental image of Elibe to work with, he's looked at that map enough times he's got it down for the most part without even needing to see it in person. Then he overlayed the pins he marked on the map that he made in Lycia, pointing out each of the locations where monster population was densest based on stories and rumors and such that he had been diligently collecting for quite some time now. He arranged the thoughts, the words, the images into a strange mishmash in his mind that he could hopefully put into some string of words. "From what I've heard, the monster sightings have grown most intense after the events of Ostia a few years ago, and have been sighted mostly across Elibe. However the brunt of these sightings have been reported in both Bern and Lycia. While it's not unheard of in Sacae, it's far less common. Some time ago there were rumors of demons in the ruins of that battle so long ago against Etruria, but that was quite some time. Afterwards there's been few that haven't been near the Bernese border. It's possible that these creatures came from Lycia, but you've seen these undead. They hardly seem capable of navigating a mountainous range, and these Tarvos? They're rare. Most sightings of creatures are almost entirely that of revenants."
Elias held one of his hands one into point to the side, opening his eyes and smiling. "To be honest, outside of Ostia, it's rare to see monsters so close to the border of Etruria. There's not a whole lot of travel to and from the theocracy, so maybe it's just a case of faulty data, but it's my belief that Etruria is somehow connected to these creatures. How though I cannot say." He crossed his arms again and wrenched his face into a sort of confused looking frown. Tapping his foot on the grassy underneath, as if he was awaiting some answer no one could give him. "You said it yourself, Ostia was full of monsters and Kraft wiped it off the map." Elias sighed. "It's just conjecture really, but I was on my way to Etruria to see if my theory held any water when I saw the burning village. I may be a man on a mission, but there's no way I can in good conscious ignore people who may need help."
He looked at the three before dropping the frown and smiling once more. "I'm sorry if I'm talking too much. People tell me that. A lot. All the time really. I mean it's not like I try to. I just have lots of things to say, y'know." He looked at Richter in particular before continuing. "So what brings a kinda famous guy that the bards love so much all the way out here?"

"Well you can't be too sure Mr", spoke Orcleous. He would have said Elias name, but the lad had forgotten it during his amazement with the magical axe. "I fought some undead in Bern not that long ago", spoke Orcleous. I can't really tell you where they came from, but I did cut several of them down. Thanks to that fight I faired better when I came to investigate the village."
Seeing a open moment in the conversation Orcleous took advantage of it to ask a question that had been bothering him for quite a while. "Excuse me Mr. Richter, but you seem to be famous. I don't really know why, but I wanted to ask you what it take to be famous. I don't mean the type of fame that gets your name passed around the local tavern a few times, or the kind of fame that is only remembered in a region. I want to know how do you get the fame that bards a land over sing of you. How do you become that famous", asked Orcleous as he looked on with anticipation. The young swordsman expected a marvelous answer. A answer that would blow his mind and change his entire way of thinking.

Richter could only stare blankly at the fancy hat wearing mage as he rambled on, and on, and on about the locations of various monster appearances. Bern, Sacae, Lycia; what did it matter? Ultimately it all pointed back to Kraft, which was what Richter already knew and cared the most about. He had been in Ostia the day it was destroyed. He hardly needed another excuse to kill the man.
Somewhat checked out by the end of the mage's rant, Richter's ears perked up when he heard the inflection of a sentence ending in a question. Two of them, in fact.
"One question at a time," Richter requested, holding his hands up in an conversation barrier between him and the other two men currently speaking to him. The dark-skinned young man had chosen to ignore his question, instead just firing back with another question. It was fine, sure, but the Ilian hated having to field two conversations at once.
"First, Elias, like you I'm heading to Etruria, although not for the same reason. Similar reason, though," Richter replied. He had seen Elias with Wyatt before, which made Richter feel like he should be able to divulge the reason for his march, but the Ilian wasn't going to take any chances. Not now that he was this close to Delphia. "It's a sort of hunting trip. Not monsters, though." He gave Elias a peculiar look, one that said that if he couldn't figure it out on his own, he didn't get to know. Then, with a small sigh, Richter turned to the shorter swordsman.
"As for you, whatever your name is, you get this famous by killing people," Richter said, his face a mix of annoyance and grim realism. He knew what this kid was getting at. Time for a reality check. "At least that's how I did it. I killed a whole lot of people." The Ilian leaned in a little closer for effect. There was a tinge of sarcasm in his voice. "I'm sure some people become famous for their art, or their singing, or their money, but if you really want to become so famous that people sing your name from Nabata to Sacae? Someone is going to have to die. Because to become that famous, you have to step on someone else's head, and unless those people get removed from the picture one way or another, you're going to make a whole lot of enemies." He placed a hand on the younger swordsman's shoulder.
"Trust me, kid, you don't want to be famous," Richter said. His face had softened and his voice was more genuine. "Not like me at least. I know I don't." He paused, making sure his message sunk in, then stood up straight and turned back to Elias.
"So, what, are you expecting Etruria to be chock-full of monsters?" Richter asked. His gaze wandered back over to the village. The fires had died down a bit. "If this is any sort of sign, I wouldn't doubt it."

Elias sighed. It seemed like everything he said just went right over their heads, which wasn't surprising after all they were a bunch of warriors who live day to day. It was so hard to find someone to talk with who actually understood these sorts of things, most people understood that monsters were bad but were so... unwilling to delve a little deeper. Why were they bad? What caused them? What's their purpose here on Elibe? Worst of all... where they just a sign of a much bigger problem? Of course maybe Elias was a little biased, his point of view were that monsters were super interesting. Back when he was a kid he would actually camp up beside his bed with a lantern, waiting for the monster underneath. For every hero, there was a monster. It didn't matter though, he wasn't looking for deep conversation, he'd be more then happy with some company. It was always lonely travelling alone, a problem he's always had. People simply couldn't take him handle his awesomeness. So instead of showing his disappointment with any sort of visible sign, he instead shrugged.
These people were more interested in... material matters. Richter said he was headed to Etruria, and contrary to all evidence Elias wasn't an idiot. He could suss out why a man such as him would head there, and it wasn't to research creepy crawlies. He was probably a man more interested in revenge, most notably against Kraft. Elias was there when he locked them into the church and set it ablaze, hell, he even helped them get out. Of course Elias never met Richter face to face at the time, or if he did the man didn't leave a particularly lasting memory, so whether or not Richter knew that was lost to him. Probably not, since he seemed surprised to see Elias in Bern (which was funny 'cuz Elias was surprised to see 'Richter' the guy simply didn't have much presence) Truth be told, Elias had a vested interest in that as well. He didn't know this prophet dude, but he did know he was a huge dork. He was originally tasked to try and assassinate him, like, years ago. He never followed through naturally, and he realized that it was a ploy meant to never work in the first place and that he was more or less just a distraction that was supposed to get caught, but still. That little thought has remained in his mind after all this time ever so.
Richter droned on about 'fame' and blah blah whatever. He was a sour puss who thought everything was black and grey, and that 'oh no my fames a curse I'm a murderer waaaah' and it didn't matter but still come on man. He rolled his eyes but let the man finish. Elias stopped caring about fame a long time ago, and he felt much better for it. It allowed him to focus his talent, of which were considerable, on more important things. Helping people, studying monsters, sowing new clothes, and his soufflés were never better. "I say don't get too wrapped up in 'fame' It's a shallow empty and boring road that leads nowhere and leaves you hollow feeling." Elias said with a bored look on his face. "If you're doing a good job it should be because you want to do it, not because you want to be known for it."
After Richter was done giving his silly speech which was clearly more about himself then anything else, he spoke to Elias a small bit about monsters. The mage shrugged with a sigh. "Well either them being everywhere, or them being nowhere would be good. Either one shows that Etruria is more involved then, say, Ilia. There's other reasons I'm headed to Etruria as well, but that's just the big one." He shook his head and put his hand on his hip. "But I can see this isn't that interesting to all of you, so I'll keep my theories and thoughts to myself. Or well I'll try, I can't make promises. Unless you're prepared for me to break them all."
"You travelled through Sacae to get here right?" Elias brought up almost randomly. It was something on his mind, he was interested even if not so much to get involved personally. "So you're heard about that thing going on at city of heroes, right? I was wondering if you knew anything about it." He assumed these guys might know. They've probably been in Sacae longer then he. "I mean rumors of Hargus coming back to life? Geez, that's dire. Wouldn't be the first person who came back to life after the end, but I doubt it's a good sign of things to come." Elias waved his hand as if the whole thing was blasé, it reminded him of Valorian. "I once knew a zombie, nice enough of a guy surprisingly. He never tried to eat me, not even once. Gave me my staff."

"I've got a brother who'd probably love to hash it out with you," commented Richter as he listened to the red mage talk, placing a hand on his hip and on the man's horse. He couldn't help but smile bemusedly as Elias continued to talk. He jumped through subjects faster than a horse through hoops, and seemed to change direction just as easily. The man clearly had a lot on his mind, and it didn't seem like he let much bother him. That trait was admirable, at least, if not for the scatterbrained way it made him appear.
It wasn't so much that Richter didn't find any of it interesting, he just didn't feel that it was pertinent at the moment. Elias seemed so focused on where the monsters were and all the exact specifics of their arrival. It was a little science project to him. Richter? Well, he cared most about two things: that they were being caused by some sort of demons, and that they always seemed to show up where Kraft and his Herald had been. That was enough for him. The pink haired Ilian figured that Kraft was helping the demons one way or another, so if he ended Kraft, he'd end the monsters. At least that's the impression Ardus had given him.
But before Richter had a chance to say this, Elias mentioned the City of Heroes, which Richter knew as Kenshin's city, and Hargus. What did Kenshin and Hargus have to do wi-...back to life? Wait, what? "Wait, Hargus?" Richter interrupted, throwing out a hand to halt the conversation. "What's going on over at the City of Heroes? What do you mean 'rumors'?" The Ilian paused a little dumbstruck, before switching into disbelief. He waved the assertion away. "No way. Hargus is dead. I watched him die." Richter pointed his fore and middle fingers at his eyes to emphasize the watching that was done. But then the Ilian stopped himself. Hargus had resurrected old heroes to fight for him. Was it really so far-fetched that someone else could resurrect Hargus using the same magic? And Ardus and Noel had had a theory of Hargus having some sort of connection to the appearance of the monsters, that his disturbance of the legendary weapons had released something. Maybe they were actually right.
Richter put his face in his hands, rubbing his eyes as he sighed in frustration. So what was he supposed to do now, run all the way back across Sacae to go investigate a rumor? Now that he was so close to Etruria? It seemed like a waste of time, but if Hargus was being resurrected over by the City of Heroes, then the Prophet maybe had something to do with it. If Kraft had nothing to do with it, then his death wouldn't stop the monsters. Maybe. Or maybe he had everything to do with it, and that meant that was exactly where Richter wanted to be. Maybe Hargus had a connection to the undead. But that was a lot of maybes, and still, a rumor? "What is this rumor, and is it really just a rumor?"

Orcleous stopped for a moment and began to meditate on all that was said. Fame was built upon the skulls of others. If he wanted to be famous through the skill of his blade then he was going to have to take the malice and hatred that came with it. It was a hard pill to swallow. Orcleous was not one to just out right hurt people. Sure he felt bad about killing people, but if it is between you and him coming out alive in a situation he would choose himself all the time.
There were a lot of things on the young swordsman's mind. Placing the conversation about fame aside Orcleous was now focusing on what happened in this village. A burning village filled with walking corpses and evil horse monsters. It was a not something you see every day. Orcleous had fought the undead before in Bern, but their were never any horse monsters. These things were truly frightening. They seem to have the ability to think and plan like humans and were far stronger. To make things worse they were faster on their feet than you as well. They were a overall terror and Orcleous could not find an explanation on why they existed, or the fact that he had never heard about them. Then sparks the question where were they hiding before. Shoot what in the world where these things doing here in the first place. Where they leading the army of zombies, or were they both simply being controlled by a enemy. "This does not bold well", spoke Orcleous to himself as he stared at the ground. This was way too much for the novice to take in. As Orcleous tuned himself back into Richter and Elias conversation he heard the words back to life and Hargus. It seemed even more supernatural things were going on around the world.
"Umm excuse me", spoke Orcleous cutting into their conversation. "If you will excuse me I will take my leave. Nothing personal, but the way your conversation is going it sounds as if you all are going to get involve with more stuff that falls outside the unusual setting and I am not sure if I can handle it. Truth be told I thought I was going to die a hundred times over in this battle, and in truth I was scared for my life. At my current skill level I don't think I can be of use to anybody right now. I think it would probably be best for me too leave. I would hate to run into anymore horse monsters or slow you down on your quest. Without interrupting your conversation anymore I will take my leave."
Orcleous began to walk off in the direction he came in the town from. It was not a interesting rout, but it was safe. None of the undead or demon horse men from before were in that direction. Orcleous got his fill of adventure and then some. The only thing on his mind right now was getting back to Bern and putting this whole thing behind him. Though he knew the events of today were going to stick in his mind. [Orcleous leaves thread]

Gabriel listened silently to Richter and Elias awhile longer, his eyes sometimes straying towards the Runeblade that he had wielded a bit ago. Dropping the massive spear back down, he sighed. It'd be far too heavy to get anywhere, even with his horse. It was more of a pain then it was worth. He heard Richter speak of what Fame meant for him to the Bern lad before listening to Elias talk once more, speaking of theories as to Monster appearances. He had to admit it was quite curious, during his time in Etruria, he'd never noticed any of the hideous creatures, but they were practically right on him the moment he'd entered Lycia. It was quite curious.
"So you're heard about that thing going on at city of heroes, right? I was wondering if you knew anything about it."
Gabriel now turned to fully look at Elias, curious as to what he was talking about.
"I mean rumors of Hargus coming back to life? Geez, that's dire. Wouldn't be the first person who came back to life after the end, but I doubt it's a good sign of things to come."
"It's not the first time I've heard that rumor, in truth. A lot of bandit leaders want to try and be the next Hargus." He paused, still thinking about what it had to do with the City of Heroes. "Still... regardless of whether it's true or not this time, there must be quite the large force of Bandits if they intend to raid somewhere like that. And that's no good in and of itself." The ex-soldier briefly considered to himself whether to go and help the village or continue on towards Kraft. He couldn't ignore the concept of people in danger, but which was the most important right now?
A single village or the current biggest fish in the metaphorical sea?

"I'd like to meet him one day then. No one I speak to seems to care. How can no one care about why monsters are trying to murder everyone is beyond me, but far be it for me to pass judgment." Elias shrugged. As far as most people interest went it was 'monsters=bad' and then they went about their only little lives with their own little goals and destinations and completely ignore the menace about them. Elias was aware of how blissfully unaware someone could be, he was a sterling example of it really, but still c'mon guys. Get your act together, rest of Elibe are you even trying?
"Well if I know it wasn't a rumor, I wouldn't be calling it a rumor." Elias replied to Richter's surprisingly intense questioning with a sort of blase shrug. "There's a certain basis of truth there though. There is bandit activity on a steep rise in Bern, and many people are saying they're gearing up for something big. It's possibly to bring the dead back to life, Hargus had such a magical ability back during the bandit war, and I've met a man who was revived in such a way first hand." He began to explain his thoughts. "If anyone would to have this magic now, it'd be someone close to Hargus and that makes the revival of him not an impossible feat. Unlikely, yes, but if that magic existed then it could very well exist now as well. I'd say there's a very real chance it could be true. Not a huge one, like one in four. No... One in three."
Elias sighed. "I have some bad memories in the city of heroes, so I kind of avoided going there." That was where he was abandoned by Garnet, where he came out of that coma, and where he had that little depressing episode. Not something he was looking forward to reliving. "If you're gonna go that way I'll tag along. If you don't mind of course, I'd like to see for myself. I thought I could just ignore it as another rumor, but the fact I even asked means it's not quite off my mind. I'm curious, and even if it'll delay my journey I suppose that Etruria's still gonna be there in a month." He looked at the younger man bow out quite subtly. Elias wasn't entirely sure when it happened actually, but whatever. Good luck fellow warrior of red.

"I'm not a huge fan of the place either," replied Richter. He hadn't actually been there, but his mind started jumping to images of Kenshin staring at him from across the crossing of their blades. The last thing he wanted to do was help the man do anything, but if what Elias said was true, then there could be bigger things afoot than his personal feud. "But if Hargus is back and innocent people are at risk, then that's where I need to be. As much as I hate saying it, Kraft can wait." The pink-haired Ilian sighed and nodded to Gabriel. He didn't like saying it, not after coming all this way north, not after all his history with Etruria's dictator, but it was true. Kraft was an evil, tyrannical, lying drunk of a man, but he hadn't made any big moves against anyone in months. Meanwhile the City of Heroes could be in very real and immediate danger. It wasn't really all that hard of a decision.
"I'm going," Richter continued as he began walking towards his horse. He placed his foot in one of the stirrups, then using the reigns he pulled himself up into the saddle. "I'm glad you're coming with, Elias. If there's a battle, they'll probably need every man they can get." The Ilian turned to Gabriel. He had only known the man for a few days, but Richter could see the man was good under pressure and skilled in combat. That, and frankly, Richter just enjoyed his company. "I hope you're coming too."

Hrm. He frankly didn't like the thought of leaving Kraft living for much longer, but that bandit attack still didn't sit well with him. Gabriel had to agree with Richter in this instance, he hated to say, but Kraft could wait. Right now, they needed to get to that sacaen city and do what they could to aid the people there. He was feeling tired and mentally fatigued from the stress of the battle though still. Gabriel took a deep breathe and let it out, looking over to his breastplate and picking it up. The ex-soldier would still need to hammer out that dent before putting it back on.
"I hope you're coming too."
Gabriel looked over to Richter as he spoke up. "Of course. We can't just do nothing about it. I agree with you in saying that Kraft can wait, even if it pains me to say so." The brown haired Etrurian grimaced slightly. "I can't wait to stick a blade in Kraft, but we need to focus on the more present and concerning issue."
He paused.
"And get the hell out of this blazing town. I am sweating like a pig." Gabriel grimaced even further.
