Aurek returned just in time to hear the announcement that everyone involved in this was screwed. He just covered his eyes for a moment and rubbed his temples. Why was he doing this again? Oh yeah, so he wouldn't remember something. Well, he was about to get himself killed in the name of forgetting. Wonderful. Absolutely wonderful.
"So, we're going to attack a large group of thugs, who are armed to the teeth with some of the strongest weapons money can buy, in their own stronghold? Brilliant. Does someone have any good piece of news to make this idea seem at least slightly plausible?" Aurek looked amongst those standing there before turning to the archer. "You seem to be crux of this. Explain why you're so gun-ho to die." He paused for a moment. "You know what? I don't even want to know. It's going to be something stupid like the bandits killed your family or something." He waived his hand dismissively.
He looked directly at the commander of the guard. "Care to join us on this foolhardy escapade? We'll need a guide to the hideout." Aurek squinted as he eyed the man up and down. Surely this one had some experience with fighting. He survived the surprise attack after all. That probably meant he had some measure of skill. Or luck. Both would be necessary for this to work.
Finally, he turned to the acolyte. "You look shady. You get to walk in front of me. Congrats." Having addressed everyone, Aurek belched. He grimaced. Still tasted horrible.

"Well here's the deal" said the guard to the group. " we will be attacking there hideout but only after I get some reinforcements from a few of the other towns. Here take this letter to the commander of the town guard to the east of here deliver this and he will grant troops meet me back here while I got to the other towns. Hurry we need not waste time." After that the guard left.
Gabe took the letter and placed it in his pocket. "Well you heard the man we should get going to the town east of here. Maybe this isn't going to be as bad as we thought."
But title did Gabe or the others know is that the bandits were on to them and the guard and had over heard their talk long enough to know exactly what to do.

"Shady", spoke Borgus as he looked at Aurek. Where one would expect someone to look upset or filled with disgust by the comment Borgus had an expression of surprise. He was sure he had put some effort to looking like a normal person. Well a normal mercenary maybe. Sure he wore leather armor and a brown head band, but he did not think that made him look Shady. Still if old people thought he looked Shady then that meant everyone else did as well. It would be wiser for him to change up his appearance later.
"Well you look old", spoke Borgus as he stared at Aurek. "So do your best not to slow us all down old geezer." As the guardsman handed Gabe a letter Borgus stared on with surprise. Did that guardsman just give them a important letter to take to the town east of here. He gave an important letter to two drunks and a young boy to travel across bandit country to get aid in fighting the bandits. Borgus was a bit confused on this one. It was literally his first time delivering a message for a guard and was the first time he was really trusted with anything of this magnitude. As the old man had said before he looked Shady.Normally people did not trust him with such important letters.
"Ok I am confused", spoke Borgus. "Nothing personal, but don't you think the village should have somebody to run letters for them. You know a carrier or such. This guardsman just decided to give us three the letter and sent us off. Am I the only person who is suspicious of this", asked Borgus. Once again Borgus fell back onto his own knowledge of Bandit plans and traps. Essentially he went to What I Would Do mode. "You know that guardsman could be a spy for the brigands. He could have given us the letter to get us to leave the village were there are still armed men and kill us while we are on the road. I mean we did make it publicly known that we were thinking about trying to take out the bandits. Any of you all think this might be a trap, or is it just the alcohol in my system", spoke Borgus to the rest of the group.

"You have a point Borgus but why would he have killed a bunch of bandits if he was with them. Also this could be our only shot at taking out the bandits." Said Gabe in response to Borgus. "Besides could just be that he trusts me cause I also fought the bandits." Well unless you guys have any other problems we should get going, after all time is of the essence." And with that Gabe headed to the east hoping to find help but would end up finding the best and worst thing he could have imagined, that would change him for life. and the other 2 who knows what they will do but one things for sure the trip won't be easy but the pay off could be great.

"Yes, I'm old. Someone get this person an award. His ability to perceive is absolutely phenomenal," Aurek said, his voice practically liquefied sarcasm. He immediately turned around and threw up. Gasping a little, he added, "I'll slow you down if I want to. I'm only here for the little kid. Not you." Aurek continued to listen to the other two talk as he dry heaved. "Of course it's a bloody trap. Regardless if that guard is in on it or not, we're pretty much guaranteed to get jumped at some point!" he practically yelled, spittle getting caught in his beard. Excellent, he'll fill the role of raving lunatic in the merry band of bait.
The whole scenario was absolutely ridiculous. This was the cursed plains of Sacae. No one helped each other in these places! Either the guardsman had way too much influence, or something awful was about to happen. But every time the brilliant idea of leaving the two idiots to die came, a nasty headache was sure to follow. Of course, the only solution was to drink more and follow the archer. So, like every dumb hero out there, ready to throw his life away, Aurek walked east, carrying a message with a plan to hunt down bandits that were definitely going to kill him. But conquering insurmountable odds was the true mark of a hero. Unfortunately, Aurek didn't want to be a hero. Or a villain. He just wanted to be drunk. And on that thought, he took another swallow of his now dwindling bottle. Mmhmm, pockets were a beautiful thing.

(2 days later )
"We are getting close I can see the town from here on that hill we can make it there before night fall" said Gabe. The weather was wonderful on this nice sunny day flowers were scattered across the sides of the dirt road on which they traveled, the sky was clear of any clouds allowing the sun to shine brilliantly down upon the trio of unlikely good guys. But then Gabe saw a figure coming towards them from the north it was a man on horse back which Gabe could make out at first but when he did he couldn't believe his eyes. It was Damon charging full speed ahead at them. "Damon?! What the heck are you doing out here I thought you weren't coming?!" Yelled Gabe at his old friend. "I wasn't originally but after thinking it over I decided to come after doing some intense training enough for my my teacher to bestow on to me this" Damon pulls out a master seal. I couldn't believe or master just had one of these lying around he told me to use it when the time is right so I decided not to use it right away like most fools and short minded imbeciles surely would anyway I'm glad I found you because." He paused for a moment his smile quickly left his face faster then any thief could run. "You see I came to also tell you some bad news. The Pustid bandits attacked our town right before I left and burned it to the ground. I'm afraid your parents and our master didn't survive."
Gabe couldn't fully comprehend what Damon had said his mouth hung open like a broken door and was unable to utter even the slightest notice from it, not even a yell a cry or a response his eyes turned to glass but not a single tear exited his shocked face.

"Ugh", groaned Borgus as he walked. The acolyte was well sober by now and realized what he had signed up for. Alcohol made people do stupid things. There was very little gain from this and lot of risk. Why in the world was he even following this kid. The only real reason he was still round was because he gave his word to help. Borgus valued his word over all else, it was a bit of professional pride he carried. Normally Borgus would get a bit drunk to wash away his regrets, but considering that alcohol got him in this situation to begin with he swore off drinking for a good bit of time. Instead Borgus had forced his bottles of vodka onto the old man. He was sure the geezer could use it and he needed to get it off his person.
Suddenly Borgus saw somebody coming into view. At first he was sure it was a bandit. He had prepared a spell to take care of the problem out right, but it seemed the boy knew who this was. Borgus was still convinced that this was a trap. That was the only real thing he said two days ago that he agreed with now. So far they were not ambushed and chopped into small pieces, but they still had a long way to go. The enemy could appear at any time and attempt to do some chopping.
"So they burned down your home town", spoke Borgus. No real emotion could be heard in his voice. He figured something like this would happen. That is what happens when you speak about taking down a bandit gang in the middle of public. Still he needed to be friendly with them a bit. They were going to be the people watching his back when he got into a fight. "Sorry for your loss", he spoke. "Still the bandits seem to be a step ahead of us", spoke Borgus.

Gabe snapped back into reality his mind made up those bandits would die even if it takes Gabe to hell and back and it kills him half way there. "It seems they are working towards us." Said Gabe with a hint of bitterness and anger in his voice his heart still beating fast and his mind unable to fully concentrate. "This has become worse and worse every moment." Gabe turns to the others. "It's not to late for you two to quit now and leave this escapade I won't hold it against you personally I can deliver the letter myself." Gabe knew that this path could wind up becoming his death sentence thus he didn't want others possibly dying because of his personal revenge and bloodlust without them completely willing to go through with it at their own risk.
"Well il gladly go with you Gabe after all they killed our master and my family as well and I will not allow them to do it to others." Said Damon with more determinaton in those words then he had ever had in his entire life thus far. " Damon..... You have changed so much since we first met." Said Gabe with a certain awe like the kind when you leave a place for a long time only to return to find it has become even better then before. "Alright what about you two? Borgus I see you are sober now so what do you decide?" Gabe knew that Borgus hated this idea so he figured he would surely leave.

After two days of walking in the burning sun, Aurek's temper had grown considerably. Fortunately for everyone, the acolyte had deemed it necessary to give all his vodka to the soldier. Aurek was not one to turn down charity, especially since he was low on his own supply. In fact, his bottle had run out before the first day had ended. So, with much gracious grumbling, he had stuffed all the bottles in his cloak. Mmm, pockets still were the most beautiful invention.
With a constant state of drunkenness assured, Aurek did not have to concern himself with the idiocy of the plan. He was just along for the ride until there was a moment when action was needed. Or planning. He was pretty sure he could think well still. After all, he was walking in a mostly straight line and only occasionally looking straight into the sun to curse it for being so bright and hot. That last action would promptly be followed by teary eyes and the hood pulled lower over his face.
Aurek had gotten used to the walking, with a little talking, and more walking. Then something new appeared. Apparently, the person gallivanting about the countryside like a big fat target was an friend of Gabe. Figures, idiots of a pod sprout together or something. There was a lot of talking and something about whether he should leave. Aurek wasn't really paying attention. He only had one thing to say: "Kid, I've walked across these bloody plains for two days with you. I'm drunk, not insane. If you really expected me to leave, you would have asked a lot sooner. And you're obviously desperate for help. I mean, look at," Aurek gestured up and down the archer, "that. You can't do this without help. And you know it." A quick drink and a smacking of lips ended his piece.

"What kind of statement was that", spoke Borgus. "I said I was going to help you did I not. I am not the most loyal of people, but I don't go back on my word. That even counts for the drunken ones. Also considering I have been following you for two days you should have realized by now that I was going to see this thing through. If I was going to dip out I would have left when i was sober on the first day."
Borgus was a man of his word. Even if he killed people with no care for human life he still had a code. That code is what separated him from a wild beast and the only thing he followed with a stone will. Borgus never betrayed a comrade unless they betrayed him or the organization first. He never killed a comrade unless it is out of mercy or they betrayed. He always took care of his men families. People who fought for him deserved that at the very least. The last and most important rule in Borgus personal code. He never goes back on his word. His word was his life blood. It is how he makes deals with other people and maintain his peaceful status with other bandit gangs. The moment he starts going back on his word he becomes untrust worthy. Bandits already have very little trust with each other. Borgus was not going to risk the contacts he has just because he was afraid of a small gang of uneducated saceans.

"Thank a guys I'm glad I found you two. With that out of the way we should head to the town" said Gabe less bitter then before he felt a small weight lift from his shoulder after a big one was added he still wasn't totally happy but he knew that would come with time. By sunset the group had reached the town to find it in surprisingly better condition then Gabe hade hoped. The city's wooden walls were still standing tall, all the houses were in good condition and everyone looked happy. "The bandits must not have made it here yet. We should hurry before that changes" said Damon with a hint of urgency in his voice. But as if on cue a voice coming from the watch tower could be heard. "BANDITS ARE COMING" said one of the watch in a surprisingly calm voice he must be a older soldier.
"Damon do us a favor. NEVER say anything like that again it's better for our health" said Gabe in a slightly annoyed manner. Soon after the call was heard the guard was assembled , they seemed way better trained and more competent then the ones from a few days ago. They consisted of armor knights ,archers , a few priests, soldiers and their commander was a middle aged sage in smoky grey robes with a bolting tome in one hand and a physic staff in the other. "Well boys looks it's time for some action" said Gabe with excitement in his voice and a fire in his eyes. "Um I guess so" said Damon he was never the bravest of men he liked staying in the back with a long bow and it's always worked for him, a definite opposite to Gabe's bravery to everything except talking to a woman , took him years to get used to cherra. But there was no time for old memories it was time to fight.

There was some talking then some yelling followed by more talking. Bandits were afoot. Turning around slowly, Aurek took stock of the guard. Yeah, they'd be fine. Turning back to his group, Aurek decided to make a suggestion. "Hey guys, not sure if you're aware of this, but this town is well guarded. Which means we don't need to be here. So, I have an idea. We'll have some fun." He paused for effect. "We'll go straight for their leader." A big smile broke through his beard as he took another drink as if his plan was the greatest ever.
Aurek had no clue where the bravado came from, but he decided to go with it. Best way to avoid the headache. Besides, he could just blame it all on the alcohol if someone happened to die on their end. Brilliant. "Alright, let me give you guys the details. Gabe, you and your buddy are going to volley some arrows into the right side. That's where we'll head. Borgus, you set off some spells. I don't need you to actually attack, just make distracting sparkles. After that, just follow me. I'll lead the charge." He ended with a hiccup and a slight laugh. Perhaps he shouldn't be drinking as much.
Rolling his shoulders, Aurek got ready to run. It was time to show these young'uns how to fight. Wait, did he know how to fight? Bah, it didn't matter, this idea was brilliant. Assuming the others followed along perfectly. Besides, he'd survived the Bern arena. How bad could this be compared to that? These were just bandits. Bandits always died easy. At least, they did in Aurek's slightly hazy memory. Hopefully that memory was real and not just a dream he'd had.

"Skip the limbs and go straight for the juggler", spoke Borgus. The acolyte like the idea of it. Fighting wave after wave of useless minions was not going to do them any good. Borgus had been on the opposite side so he knew that those guys were only there because they feared the axe at their back. Sure their own greed propelled them forward, but the truth of the matter was their leader is what made them act on it. Without the tough guy at their back most of the were sniffling cowards. They would soon retreat and scatter into the woods. When running a bandit gang the leader had to be strong. His strength is what held them all together. It was a primal thing really.
"Kill the leader and the horde will disperse", spoke Borgus as he turned his attention to Aurek. "You have a good head on you old man", he spoke. Borgus then walked off and began to make an impressive light show. He did not wait for Gabe confirmation of the plan or to check if Aurek was even sober enough to make a steady plan. It sounded efficient to him and that was enough. The more time they wasted on useless talking was the more time the bandits had to complete their crux stratagem. Well Borgus hoped at least they had a crux stratagem, you know a stratagem that was designed to break the enemy moral and make the enemy flee for their lives. It was how most bandits dealt with large cities and towns.
As Borgus stepped out he took his tome from his pocket. The acolyte opened it up in front of him and allowed the tome to float in the air from his magical power. Borgus began to chant as a multitude of small brilliant lights formed in the air. The lights floated through the air and over the brigands. The very sight of it frighten many of them as they knew magical death was coming next. In order to cement this Borgus struck down one of the bandits with a barrage of small bolts of light. His death was gruesome and served as a warning to the others.

"Alright understood me and Damon will ride out and shoot from horseback." Said Gabe ready for action and hoping to get some real battle experience sense he never reall fought much before. "You ready Damon?" "Yes let's do this" said Damon slightly nervous but able to try and prepared his horse " better hop on." The air became rich with smells of battle blood and steel once the 2 groups clashed it was then the group went and attacked the leader.
Damon however was quite nervous his bow was unsteady and shaky and sweat lined his fire head "I don't know if I can do this!" He said nervously. "Then don't!" Said Gabe slightly agitated but still calm. "Focus on your riding then I will do the shooting just be sure not to wimp out of that to cause we at least need that." After that exchange was over Gabe started to rain arrows on the warrior leading the bandits each one doing their job striking the boss to weaken him and assist the guard and more importantly Borgus and aurek which was the goal but then Gabe was shocked to see the warrior pull out his own bow and fire at him and to his dismay wounding the horse on which he rode knocking him and Damon to the ground hard Damon was out cold but still alive the horse however was not so lucky and died from the arrow but Gabe got up able to still fire some arrows dispute being a bit ruffed up

"This is going better than expected," Aurek mused aloud. He had not expected everyone to agree so rapidly nor take action so quickly. Shaking his head, as if to loose the cobwebs lodged within, he began his portion of the plan: the charge. His gait was a combination of full sprint and drunken lurching. Altogether, it cut a ridiculous figure. That mattered not to the soldier. Despite his lack of athletic ability, the others were keeping the enemy at bay quite handily. This gave Aurek plenty of room to maneuver. Granted, that maneuver was to basically run in a straight line at the enemy, but it was working splendidly.
Approaching the enemy, Aurek employed the beautiful stratagem of throwing caution to the wind and diving headfirst into combat. Fortunately, the warrior seemed occupied with shooting his bow. Unfortunately, that changed when Aurek unleashed a drunken bellow. Sidestepping the overly obvious lunge, the leader of the bandits drew his axe and prepared for close combat. The weapon was a large battleaxe, perfect for cleaving enemies in twain. This did little to perturb Aurek. He was high on the thrill of battle and the consumption of alcohol. Plus, he had backup. What could possibly go wrong?
In a brilliant display of thrusts, slashes, parries and dodges, the two combatants fought. Well, at least that's how it was in Aurek's mind. In reality, the soldier was barely blocking any oncoming attacks, suffering minor wounds in the process. The warrior was easily sidestepping all the drunken, half-baked attacks coming his way. A bloodthirsty smile was alight on both men's faces. One knew he would win, and the other was disillusioned by drink. Odds were never in Aurek's favor.
