“You’re passionate about monsters I take it? I find them rather disturbing and the less time I spend dealing with them the better, but” He shrugs, “It is what it is.” Someone had to take an interest or else the blasted things would never get dealt with. Still, the origin is a mystery and they keep spreading their population; an issue that has grown in relevance rapidly over the past year.
Mila had gone red faced when she realized her wording. Vincent had not spent much time in the company of women but even he knew how it sounded. In an instant he had his head turned to avoid eye contact and blushing like a school girl. “R-right. Of course. Heh” Sharing a room, with her? No, no way Vince, stop thinking bad things you shouldn’t, that’s not even what she meant!
“Apple turnovers huh? My mom used to make those when I was a kid. Her specialty was always blueberry anything though.” Wow, how long was it since he thought about his mom? His shoulders slumped as he recalled his last trip home. He saw her house damaged by crooked mercenaries and darted to avenge the wrongdoing. Then the lord died. He had said barely five sentences to the woman. He closed his eyes briefly, feeling guilty for it. He would make it up to her one day.
“Yeah, let’s go check it out. I should have enough saved up to pay for the both of us and get my blade fixed.” Oh man, his reaver was still broken. He sighed; there was a lot to do still. “Well, lead the way… my lady.” He added the last bit dropping into a sloppy and playful bow. He did mean it respectfully but he knew next to nothing about courtly behavior or wooing. Wait? Was he trying to woo her? She was certainly beautiful, smart, and reliable but he knew almost nothing about her, and she looked to be older than him. No, she is simply a friend.
