So there have been a lot of conversations about how posts don't equal power. I think that we should try to come up with a way to give people your threading with an actual understanding of current skill level.
I was thinking that we could have a form template (like the one for magical weapons) explaining their training - who they trained with, for how long, ect - combat style, and battle experience. Then, everyone who feels like it could put it in their journal section so that others could read it and get a better understanding when they are threading. This would probably be really helpful for any PvP stuff and if your character's seen a lot of growth, then it could be really helpful.
If this sounds like something, you guys would be interested in, let me know - I wouldn't have any problem making up a template for the board!

Sounds like a interesting idea. Mostly power levels have been gagjed by post lvl. The only really diffrence is between characters who do not fight and those who do. However that can only be told by looking back at previous threads. Actually judging skill lvl is quite hard between characters. At one point we had stats, but that system went belly up quick. Mainly in my openion is because the pyramid was reverse. The higher lvl you where the more points you got. It should have been the higher the lvl you went the less points you got. That would have made it workable, but I digress. It sounds like a useful idea, but implementing it would be difficult

I don't think it would be putting in stats, or anything like that. Mostly just having a clear and easy way to describe your character's ability and skill. It wouldn't be anything as official as I have 13 strength, you have 10 strength, so I win. Just a way for everyone to be able to clearly see what's what.

While I personally I don't think this needs to be required, I think this is a great optional journal entry. Mind posting a template here?

No problem. I agree it should be optional, since it's not the most important info to have for everyone to see, but it could come in handy. I'll have one made up by tomorrow.

Combat Style:
Training: Pre board training: In Thread Training:
Battle Experience:
This is just a basic template that might be helpful for people. Here's how I used it for Donovan's profile.
Combat Style: Donovan fights with a Sword and Shield - Slash and Bash ruthless efficiency. He has blended element’s of Duma’s graceful skill and Perun’s ferocity. He will frequently use his skills of deception to trick his opponents into lowering their guard.
Training: Before becoming a mercenary, Donovan had been a trouper well versed in stage combat. This training gave him the basics of combat, but he was prone to over exaggerating his attacks for most of his days as a caravan guard because of this.
After meeting Perun, he received informal strength training from the Giant, resulting in the mercenary adapting a pure strength approach to his combat that had a tendency to leave him relatively open to counter attacks. He still travels with Perun and they have been on the road with each other for more or less half a year.
His latest training was from Duma, focusing on speed and efficiency. During his time traveling with the sword master, Donovan learned how to control his strength and speed and closed up many of his once glaring defensive holes. He trained with Duma for at least 2 months (arc incomplete).
Battle Experience: Donovan has gotten into a number of fights and killed a number of men. He started out getting into bar brawls (Which are still occasional occurrences for the lad), but has elevated himself to bigger prey in his time with Perun - the two becoming bounty hunters then body guards for the perpetually assaulted priest, Remus. After finishing that journey, they went on to take government jobs rooting out banditry and the like in the Lycian area.
The mercenary is skilled with single combat, with an equal opponent, but really excels when paired with Perun, as they often know each others moves before they are even made. The mercenary has been involved in many bandit raids, but has not yet fought in a true war. Formality and structure in battle is still an area Donovan is terrible in.
While a very competent fighter, he tends to let allies like Perun and Duma take on the stronger opponents. His intelligence, however, leads him to be rather proficient at strategy when on the field making him a natural leader — though long term campaigns are an area he is completely untested in.
Monster Experience: Donovan learned quite a bit when he nearly died whilst being attacked by a horde of the undead. It was here that he began to see the value of his shield in combat. The mercenary has also taken on a pack of Doogs lead by a Gwyllgi, killing one of the hounds, and assisting in the death of the alpha.
