Personality
Appius isn't the funnest person to be around. While he is communal in that Appius does not hesitate to ask anything of anyone due to his past as a nomad, his same calculated and impatient attitude is consistent. Often times, if someone won't listen to what it is he tells them to do or what he believes would be most efficient or practical, Appius will grow frustrated or even right out furious at the perpetrator. However, Appius can be very respectful as well, especially to any who can prove their worth in combat. Having been of common birth himself, he can understand the struggles of those lesser than him and will seek to correct them with a motherly attitude. Appius also has ideals of prime efficiency and practicality, as previously stated, making him rather stern and official all around. After all, when the mere climate of your homeland can kill you, there is no room for error. Overall, Appius is resourceful and respectful, just make sure not to set off his short fuse.
Battle Scenarios
NPC
PC: Appius drew forth his iron scimitar from its black scabbard which lay to the left of his hip, aiming its tip at the brigand which stood opposite him before lowering himself into a short right guard, the sword's curved wooden pommel at the forefront of his abdomen.
NPC: The axe-wielding bandit lunged forth at Appius, swinging down vertically, dead center, at Appius skull from his lunge.
PC Appius, knowing he would be unable to match the fighter's strength, stammered back rather awkwardly and in doing so threq himself off balance but only momentarily.
NPC: The brigand, taking advantage of this fumble, drew his axe back into both hands and now stepped forth with his left foot to chop at the mercenary's side.
PC: Unable to recover in time, Appius is struck in his left side, his cuirass taking the majority of the damage however. But Appius, while not having been sliced, was knocked to the floor from sheer brute force.
NPC: The bandit re-positioned himself over Appius, now aiming a final blow at the mercenary's breast.
PC: Though he knew it would be utterly painful, Appius managed to place both of his palms upon the broad end of his curved blade to block the oncoming axe. And if succesful, going to hook the sword underneath the axe's head.
NPC: Appius succeeded, being able to block the bandit's blow, but there was only a moment before the brigand rose his steel axe again abover his head to land the killing blow.
PC: Taking advantage of his position, Appius thrust forward his right boot to kick the brigand in his nether regions.
NPC: Appius' tactic succeeded, albeit dishonorable, causing the brigand to drop his axe behind him with a yelp of pain.
PC: Appius now afixed his sword so that its end aimed at the brigand's abdomen whilst in the man's right hand, thrusting it into the bandit's if successful in doing so.
NPC: The bandit's abdomen was nearly cut halfway through, causing him to drop to his knees and cry out in agony.
PC: Appius scrambled back to avoid being crushed by the fighter's mass, looking on as the bandit writhed in pain.
PC
Appius: Appius went to slash at the left side of his opponent's torso with his scimitar in one hand and his wooden buckler in the other, leaving his back completely open to the attacker's left as the mercenary attempted to land a blow on his cuirass.
PC: He shifted his sword to the right, going to clash against Appius' blade with the broad side of his own. He saw the opening, but didn't want to risk being sliced through for a single hit on Appius.
History
Appius was born to only his mother, Poia Ravilla, out in the sands of Nabata. He had no siblings, living the simple life of a nomad alongside his mother in their dire years without a tribe or clan. While Appius would grow practicing alongside his mother, Poia knowing the importance of combat due to their lifestyle, Appius had great fear instilled in him of her due to having witnessed the majority of her battles. However, how she did so only to protect what heir she had made Appius aspire to be like his mother as well.
By the time Appius turned 11, he and his mother had joined the nomadic tribe of Droe with Poia's marriage to a traveling merchant by the name of Raadi. While it was not for romance, she knew that her son and herself could not survive any longer out in the sands without a clan to support them. At the age of 17, Appius would finally be granted his own sword by his mother, despite the protests of his step-father. While Raadi would complain, he dared not directly oppose the 6'1" muscular mass that was his wife.
Now, when Appius had finally turned 24, he was forced to flee Droe by will of his mother after a blood feud erupted between Their tribe and the neighboring clans of Fashim and Kalem over a well between the three. With Poia supplying him with a mount and blade, the tribesman took off into the sands in search of a new life. Initially, he had no aim, panicked by thoughts of his mother's possible death, but soon coming to realize that he would need to disregard those thoughts in favor of mere survival. To this day, Appius is unaware of whether his family is alive or not, and avoids the Nabata region as to avoid any confrontation of such as well.
