Name:Vexelle "Vex" Blanche
Class:Soldier
Age:21
Born in:Eburacum, Western Isles
Appearance:Vex stands at roughly 5'8 feet tall, built with lean athletic features and fair skin riddled with the scars of mining duty, one such across the bridge of her nose. She sports light blonde hair cut down to chin length and accesses the world with icy blue eyes. Vex comes clad with a chestplate and pauldrons tinted a brilliant silver, girding her limbs with black leather gauntlets and traveling boots.
Personality:Vex is a dutiful soldier, taking on any and every mission with frightening ferocity. Ill-tempered, she seeks completion by any means necessary, often overlooking smaller, sometimes crucial details in her efforts. She holds herself to brutal standards of perfection to improve herself as a warrior, though never expecting as much from others. Despite this, Vex is not completely without reason and will avoid bloodshed if it is unnecessary.
History:Vexelle hails from a small village near the mining mountains of Eburacum, where one's life revolved around uncertainty and risk. At a young age, she and her younger sibling Rile struggled to come to terms with the death of their mother who suffered from an unknown illness, and their father who worked in the mines and grieved until the day the very mines themselves took his life, leaving the two children to fend for themselves. Naturally protective of her only remaining flesh and blood, Vex worked at the mines in place of her father to make end's meet. Even at a young age, she forced herself to endure grueling, nightmarish conditions for the sake of her brother.
Vex soon realized that, despite her works, life would never get better for them this way. Rile had dreams of becoming a scholar and learning trades of the magical arts, a dream that was all but stagnated where they were. Things only seemed to get worse when a small band of Etrurian soldiers visited their village from the nearby naval headquarters. The captain, a cavalier by the name of Horas, took notice of the pitiful village, mainly the two children who lived all on their own. Where most would find only pity, Vex and Rile's tenacity sparked an interest in the strange man, and collected them to make a better lives for themselves--as soldiers of the Etrurian army.
Rile's dream lead him to be sent to the capital of Etruria to be trained in the magic academy, while Vex found herself as a recruit to the army, taking up the way of the spear and loyalty to the crown. With great appreciation for this new life came great effort and progression, steadily improving her talents at an impressive rate with the sheer tenacity and willpower she had developed back home. In time, she became a proper soldier for the army. Though she lacks a cause within the army itself, fighting through tribulation is all she knows, and so long as she has something to protect, she will continue to fight until her last breath.
NPC fight: Vex hadn't expected to have a skirmish with a bandit during her patrol. She received orders to investigate an abandoned stronghold, during which she and her fellow men found themselves crossing blades with cutthroat brutes claiming the vacant lot as their own. She stood firm, spear poised towards one particular brigand much larger than she was. A swing of his iron ax could bring her demise in an instant.
With a yell, he takes the first swing, only narrowly missing the pleasure of lapping the young soldier's head clean off as Vex ducks under the horizontal slash if his ax. She quickly moves to attack with her lance, but where she was expecting blood came only the clash of metal when the brute brings his weapon back the opposite way, deflecting her blow entirely and forcing her to raise her shield for the next. The blade connects and rips open her shield open, only to be lodged into the twisted gash. Taking this as her chance, Vex cries out and stabs twice at her opponent. The spearhead plunges once into the bandit's chest earning a roar of pain from him, then buries itself higher into his skull, silencing him immediately. She pulls her spear back and lets the limp body collapse into a heap as she sighs a breath. That was much closer than she would've liked it to be. Moreover, now she has to replace this busted shield. She'll be internally scolding herself for the better part of an hour for this.
PC fight: Today, Vex had the privilege of sparring with a well-renowned mercenary hired into Etrurian military. She was confident she could win with her weapon advantage alone, but this opponent She waited for the swordsman to make his move, bracing herself to defend against whatever he'd throw her way before attempting a counterattack with a thrust of her spear, aimed for his side to cause deterrence if she proved to be quicker than the other nimble warrior.
